In th. last 20 years,th. built-up areas of Europe h.ve increased by 20%,wh.le th. population increased by 6% *** th. fact th.t urban sprawl occurs wh.n th. rate of land-use conversion exceeds th. rate of population growth.we can now talk about th. existence of urban sprawl in *** Bulgaria,during th. period 2004-2012,th. developers’interest in agricultural and forest lands located outside th. development zones of different settlements increased in parallel with.th. construction development of urban areas,mainly around larger towns,resort and h.liday *** low price of agricultural lands can be seen as one of th. main reasons in th.s *** issues of th. utilization of agricultural lands,th.ir conversion into urban(construction)lands,and zoning h.ve been defined by a number of national and local legal acts,wh.ch.were passed and subsequently renewed/modified in a more recent *** main act regulating th. spatial planning and construction on th. territory of th. Republic of Bulgaria is th. SPA(Spatial Planning Act).Th. h.lf-metallic ferromagnetism,mech.nical as well as th.rmoelectric properties for rare earth.based spinels Mgh._(2)Z_(4)(Z=S,Se)were investigated using density functional th.ory(DFT).Structural optimization was done with.Perdew-Burke-Eh.enzorf(PBE)sol-generalized gradient approximation(GGA)to calculate th. lattice constant of both.spinels comparable to experimental *** addition,Born stability criteria and negative formation energy sh.w th.t our studied spinels are also structurally and dynamically stable in th. cubic *** ferromagnetic(FM)state stability,we also calculated th. energy differences among FM,antiferromagnetic(AFM),and non-magnetic(NM)***,Curie temperatures of ferromagnetic ph.ses were also *** used Trans-Blah. improved BeckeJoh.son(TB-mBJ)potential functional for electronics as well as magnetic ch.racteristics,wh.ch.lead to th. consistent explanation of h.lf-metallic ferromagnetism,representing th. wh.le band-occupancy in material with.exact detail of density of states(DOS).Th. stable FM state was examined in spinels due to th. exch.nge splitting of h. cation consisting of p-d h.bridizations compatible with.th. result ach.eved for electronics band structure and ***,spin magnetic moment was explained in terms of anion,cation,and sh.ring ch.rge on studied *** addition,th. calculated th.rmoelectric properties clearly sh.w th.t operation range of th.se systems may be utilized by future experimental works for identifying th. potential applications of th.se systems.

Introduction: Computed tomograph. (CT) measurements of bone mineral attenuation may be a useful means to identify older women wh. sh.uld be prioritized for bone mineral density screening. Meth.ds: We compared bone mineral attenuation as measured in th. L1 vertebra of CT studies to th. results of dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) studies to determine wh.t CT attenuation th.esh.lds migh. yield a reasonable combination of sensitivity and specificity for th. detection of osteoporosis. Th. study was limited to women between th. ages of 65 and 75 years wh. h.d a DEXA study and a CT th.t included th. L1 or adjacent vertebra performed with.n 3 years of th. DEXA study. Results: Th.re were 1226 women in th.s study, of wh.m 452 (38%) h.d osteoporosis based on a T-score ≤ −2.5 by DEXA. Th.re were 830 CT studies performed with.contrast and 396 studies wh.ch.were performed with.ut contrast. Th.re was a statistically significant difference in th. mean h. of th.se studies performed with.ut contrast compared to th.se with.contrast (unenh.nced mean 103 h. versus 125 h., p h.esh.lds provided th. most appropriate combination of sensitivity and specificity for th. detection of osteoporosis wh.n comparing CT studies performed with.ut or with.IV contrast and wh.n all th. CT data were used in aggregate. Conclusion: Different th.esh.lds appear necessary wh.n using th. mean CT vertebral attenuation to identify older women for preferential referral for DEXA studies.

Background: Appropriate sample requesting, collecting and timely dispatch.to th. appropriate laboratory is essential in establish.ng diagnosis of path.logies with.lesions. Much.time and effort may be wasted if th.s is not done according to certain standards. We conducted th.s study to assess th. route of lymph.node samples from requests to reach.ng th. laboratories. Meth.ds: We conducted an audit over a period from 4th.June until 10th.Aug 2023. Data for all th. procedures performed over th.s period on lymph.node samples (was entered into and analysed using Excel. Results: A total of eigh.een samples for sixteen patients were obtained during th.s period. Median age of th. patients was 34 years (19 - 73) with.a M:F ratio of 5:11. Among th. IR samples, nine samples were from th. neck, th.ee from inguinal area and one from axilla. Seven samples (53.8%) were tru-cut biopsies, six samples (46.15%) were FNA. All samples were sent to th. path.logy laboratory fixed in formalin. Samples for TB were sent only for five cases (31.25%) and for only two cases (12.5%) were samples sent for bacterial culture. For th. OR samples, none were sent for eith.r bacterial culture or TB. Overall, eigh. patients (50%) were not investigated for any infectious etiologies like brucella, toxoplasmosis, CMV, EBV plus oth.r possible causes. Repeat sampling was required for 25% of patients (with.n and out of th. audit period). Conclusions: to avoid delays in making diagnoses, it is paramount to consider infectious etiologies as possible diagnosis for lymph.denopath. and request appropriate investigations. Th.s requires liaising with.infectious diseases/clinical microbiology experts to guide regarding types of samples, types of media and timely dispatch.to th. correct laboratory.
