Influence of recycled polyethylene terephthalate fibres on plastic shrinkage and mechanical properties of concrete

Polyethylene terephthalate bottles production has drastically increased year after year due to high versatility of polyethylene terephthalate plastics and considerable consumption of *** tandem with that increase,the major concern of society has been the improper disposal of this non-biodegradable material to the *** deal with this concern,recycled polyethylene terephthalate bottles were incorporated in concrete as fibre reinforcements in this *** objective of this research is to evaluate the mechanical properties of recycled polyethylene terephthalate fibre reinforced concrete(rPFrC)in comparison with control concrete without *** terephthalate fibres with three different diameters(0.45,0.65,and 1.0 mm)and two lengths(20 and 30 mm)were added at various proportions(0.5%,1.0%,1.5%and 2.0%)by volume of concrete in order to determine the effect of fibres initially on compressive,flexural and splitting tensile strengths of *** results revealed that none of the fibres have detrimental effects up to 1%volume fraction,however further addition caused slight reductions on mechanical properties in some *** shrinkage resistance and impact resistance tests were also performed according to related *** terephthalate fibres were observed to have marked improvements on those *** a good performance could be attributed primarily to the bridging effect of fibres.

The present study examined the effects of Tremella fuciformis(TF) on the learning and memory function and the neural activity in rats with TMT-induced memory *** rats were administered saline or TF(TF 25,50,100mg/kg,p.o.) daily for 21 *** cognitive improving efficacy of TF on the amnesic rats, which was induced by TMT,was investigated by assessing the Morris water maze test and by performing acetylchoine transferase(ChAT) and cAMP responsive element binding protein(CrEB) immunohistochemistry. In order to confirm the underlying mechanisms of the memory enhancing effects of TF,we assessed the neurite outgrowth of PC12 *** also administered 18F-Fluorodeoxyglucose and performed a pet/CT scan of the frontal lobe. The rats with TMT injection showed impaired learning and memory of the tasks and treatment with TF produced a significant improvement of the escape latency to find the platform in the Morris water maze at the 2 day compared to that of the control group(after the 2 day,pretention test,the TF50 group showed increased time spent around the platform compared to that of the control group(pral data,TF50 mg/kg significantly alleviated the loss of ChAT-ir neurons in the hippocampus compared to that of the control group(preatment with TF significantly increased the CrEB positive neurons in the hippocampal CA1 area as compared to that of the control *** addition,TF treatment(50mg/kg) increased the glucose uptake approximately sevenfold in the frontal lobe(promoted neurite outgrowth of the PC 12 cells(pred to that of the controls. These results suggest that TF may be useful for improving the cognitive function via regulation of cholinergic marker enzyme activity and neural activity.
