Toughening additive manufactured Zr-based bulk metallic glass composites by martensite phase transformation

Additive manufacturing technology based on laser powder bed fusion(LPBF)offers a novel approach for fabricating bulk metallic glass(BMG)products without restriction in size and ***,the BMGs prepared by LPBF usually suffered from less plasticity and poorer fracture toughness as compared to their cast counterparts due to partial crystallization in heat-affected zones(HAZs).Since crystallization in HAZs is hard to avoid completely in LPBF BMGs,it is desirable to design a suitable alloy system,in which only ductile crystalline phase,instead of brittle intermetallics,is formed in *** unique structure could effectively increase the toughness/plasticity of the LPBF *** achieve this goal,a quaternary BMG system with a composition of Zr_(47.5)Cu_(45.5)Al_(5)Co_(2)is adopted and subjected to *** is found that nearly a single phase of B_(2)-ZrCu is precipitated in HAZs,while a fully amorphous phase is formed in molten pools(MPs).This B_(2)phase reinforced BMG composite exhibits excellent mechanical properties with enhanced plasticity and ***,it is easy to modulate the mechanical properties by altering the amount of the B_(2)phase via adjusting the laser energy ***,the best combination of strength,plasticity,and notch toughness is obtained in the BMG composite containing 27.4%B_(2)phase and 72.6%amorphous phase,which exhibits yield strength(σ_(s))of 1423 MPa,plastic strain(ε_(p))of 4.65%,and notch toughness(K_(q))of 53.9 MPa m 1/***,a notable strain-hardening is also *** improvement of plasticity/toughness and appearance of strain-hardening behavior are mainly due to the martensite phase transformation from the B_(2)phase to the Cm phase during plastic deformation(i.e.,the phase transformation-induced plasticity effect).The current work provides a guide for making advanced BMGs and BMG composites by additive manufacturing.

Analyzing electrostatic modulation of signal transduction efficiency in MoS2 nanoelectromechanical resonators with interferometric readout

Optical interferometry is a highly sensitive method for detecting the miniscule resonant motion in two-dimensional(2D) nanoelectromechanical systems(NEMS). However, the technique to control the interferometry signal strength has not been fully understood. In this work, we present analytical modeling of an effective method for tuning motion-to-signal responsivity in interferometric detection of 2D molybdenum disulfide(MoS) NEMS resonators. We show that the responsivity can be tuned very efficiently, all the way from maximum to 0, by varying the vacuum gap underneath the 2D membrane electrostatically. We further show that the gate voltage corresponding to 0 responsivity, which means no motion signal can be detected,varies with the MoSthickness, diameter, pre-strain, and initial vacuum gap. Our findings provide an important guideline for optimizing measurement conditions when detecting motion in 2D NEMS structures using laser interferometry.

Model based verification of dynamically evolvable service oriented systems

Dynamic evolution is highly desirable for service oriented systems in open environments. For the evolution to be trusted, it is crucial to keep the process consistent with the specification. In this paper, we study two kinds of evolution scenarios and propose a novel verification approach based on hierarchical timed automata to model check the underlying consistency with the specification. It examines the procedures before, during and after the evolution process, respectively and can support the direct modeling of temporal aspects, as well as the hierarchical decomposition of software structures. Probabilities are introduced to model the uncertainty characterized in open environments and thus can support the verification of parameter-level evolution. We present a flattening algorithm to facilitate automated verification using the mainstream timed automata based model checker –UPPAAL(integrated with UPPAAL-SMC). We also provide a motivating example with performance evaluation that complements the discussion and demonstrates the feasibility of our approach.

Effect of Al2O3np on the Properties and Microstructure of B4Cp/Al Composites

Aluminum-matrix boron carbide (B4Cp/Al) is a kind of neutron absorbing material widely used in nuclear spent fuel storage. In order to improve the tensile property of B4Cp/Al composites, a new type of nano-Al2O3 particle (Al2O3np) reinforced B4Cp/Al + Al2O3np composites were prepared by powder metallurgy method. The Monte Carlo particle transport program (MCNP) was used to determine the influence of Al2O3np on the thermal neutron absorptivity of composites. The universal material testing machine and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used to study the mechanical properties, microstructure and fracture morphology of B4Cp/Al composites. The results indicated that the neutron absorption properties of B4Cp/Al composites were not affected by the addition of nano-Al2O3 particles in the range of 1 wt%-15 wt%. The addition of Al2O3np can obviously reduce the grain size of B4Cp/Al matrix metals thus improve the tensile strength of the composites. The addition threshold of Al2O3np is about 2.5 wt%. Both B4Cp and Al2O3np change the fracture characteristics of the composites from toughness to brittleness, and the latter is more important.

A Novel Approach for QoS Prediction Based on Bayesian Combinational Model

As an important factor in evaluating service,QoS(Quality of Service) has drawn more and more concerns with the rapid increasing of Web services. However,due to the great volatility of services in Mobile Internet environments,such as internet of vehicles,Web services often do not work as announced and thus cause unacceptable problems. QoS prediction can avoid failure before it takes place,which is considered a more effective way to assure quality. However,Current QoS prediction approaches neither consider the highly dynamic of Web services,nor maintain good prediction performance all the time. Consequently we propose a novel Bayesian combinational model to predict QoS by continuously adjusting credit values of the basic models so as to keep good prediction accuracy. QoS attributes such as response time,throughput and reliability are used to validate the proposed model. Experimental results show that the model can provide stable prediction results in Mobile Internet environments.

Polo-like kinase 1(PLK1)plays a crucial role in cell mitosis and has been associated with ***,the role of PLK1 and necroptosis in lung adenocarcinoma(LA)remains *** this study,we analyzed The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)and Genotype-Tissue Expression databases to evaluate the prognostic value and mechanistic role of PLK1 in ***1 was found to be highly expressed in LA and was positively associated with advanced disease staging and poor survival *** enrichment analysis showed that PLK1 was involved in cell mitosis,neurotransmitter transmission,and drug *** analysis using single-sample gene set enrichment analysis and ESTIMATE algorithm revealed a correlation between PLK1 expression and immune infiltration in *** of PLK1 using miRNA transfection in LA cells reduced cell proliferation and increased apoptosis,as well as upregulating the expression of necroptosis-related proteins,such as RIPK1,RIPK3,and ***,nude mouse transplantation tumor experiments demonstrated that silencing PLK1 reduced the growth capacity of LA *** findings suggest that PLK1 plays a critical role in LA progression by regulating necroptosis and immune infiltration,and may serve as a potential therapeutic target for ***,PLK1 expression can be used as a prognostic biomarker for LA patients.

Influence of Re-ions with different ionic radius in Ba_(12)ReNb_(9)O_(36) on crystal structure and microwave dielectric properties

The Ba_(12)ReNb_(9)O_(36)(Re=Yb,Ce,Tm,Er,Y,Ho,Dy,Gd)ceramics are synthesized by solid-phase reaction *** phase composition,crystal structure,microstructure,and microwave dielectric properties of the ceramics are investigated by X-ray diffraction,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,Scanning electron microscopy and Raman *** optimal microwave dielectric properties(ε_(r)=37.23,Q×f=36600 GHz,andτ_(f)=34 ppm/℃)are obtained for Ba_(12)YbNb_(9)O_(36) ceramic sintered at 1420℃for 6 *** this system,the variation of dielectric constant is dominated by *** Q×f is mainly affected by internal strain/fluctuation of *** variation of τ_(f) is related to the temperature coefficient of dielectric constant and the oxygen octahedron ***,the reduction of Ce^(4+) ions,the relative density,linear thermal expansion coefficient,and the second phase are also important factors affecting microwave dielectric properties.

Surface-regulated triangular borophene as Dirac-like materials from density functional calculation investigation

By applying the first principles calculations combined with density functional theory (DFT), this study explored the optical properties, electronic structure, and structure stability of triangular borophene decorated chemically, B3X (X=F, Cl) in a systematical manner. As revealed from the results of formation energy, phonon dispersion, and molecular dynamics simulation study, all the borophene decorated chemically were superior and able to be fabricated. In the present study, triangular borophene was reported to be converted into Dirac-like materials when functionalized by F and Cl exhibiting narrow direct band gaps as 0.19 eV and 0.17 eV, separately. Significant light absorption was assessed in the visible light and ultraviolet region. According the mentioned findings, these two-dimensional (2D) materials show large and wide promising applications for future nanoelectronics and optoelectronics.
