Catalytic oxidation of benzene over nanostructured porous Co_3O_4-CeO_2 composite catalysts

Mesostructured Co3O4-CeO2 composite was found to be an effective catalytic material for the complete oxidation of benzene. The Co3O4-CeO2 catalysts with different Co/Ce ratios （mol/mol） were prepared via the nanocasting method and the mesostructure was replicated from two-dimensional （2D） hexagonal SBA-15 and three-dimensional （3D） cubic KIT-6 silicas, respectively. All the obtained Co3O4-CeO2 catalysts exhibited the similar symmetry with the parent silicas and well ordered mesostructures. The Co3O4- CeO2 catalysts with 2D mesostructure showed lower catalytic activities than the corresponding 3D materials. The Co3O4-CeO2 catalyst nanocasted from KIT-6 and with the Co/Ce ratio of 16/1 possessed the best catalytic benzene oxidation activity due to larger quantities of surface hydroxyl groups and surface oxygenated species. The mesostructured Co3O4-CeO2 material thus shows great potential as a promising eco-environmental catalyst for benzene effective elimination.

In search of environmentally benign insecticides with high activity, low toxicity and low residue, a series of novel anthranilic diamide derivatives containing N-pyridylpyrazole was designed and synthesized. All the compounds were characterized by H NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The single crystal structure of com pound 8j was determined by X-ray diffraction. The insecticidal activities of the new compounds were evaluated. The results show that some compounds exhibited moderate insecticidal activities against Lepidoptera pests. Among this series of compounds, compounds 80 and 8p showed 100% larvicidal activity against Mythimna separate Walker, Plutella xylostella linnaeus and Laphygma exigua Hubner at a test concentration of 200 mg/kg, which is equal to the commercial chlorantraniliprole.

Cardioprotective effect of liposomal prostaglandin E1 on a porcine model of myocardial infarction reperfusion no-reflow

Objective： To evaluate whether liposomal prostaglandin E1 （lipo-PGE1） can decrease reperfusion no-reflow in a catheter-based porcine model of acute myocardial infarction （AMI）. Methods： Twenty-two male Chinese mini-swines were randomized into three groups： six in a sham-operation group, and eight each in the control and lipo-PGE1 groups. The distal part of the left anterior descending coronary artery （LAD） in the latter two groups was completely occluded for 2 h, and then reperfused for 3 h. lipo-PGE1 （1 pg/kg） was injected 10 min before LAD occlusion until reperfusion for 1 h in the lipo-PGE1 group. Hemodynamic data and proinflammatory cytokines were examined before AMI, 2 h after occlusion, and 1, 2, and 3 h after reperfusion. Myocardial contrast echocardiography （MCE） and double staining were performed to evaluate the myocardial no-reflow area （NRA）. Results： Left ventricular systolic pressure and end-diastolic pressure significantly improved in the lipo-PGE1 group after reperfusion compared with the control group and also 2 h after AMI （P〈0.05 for both）. MCE and double staining both showed that lipo-PGE1 decreased reperfusion NRA after AMI （P〈0.05, P〈0.01）. lipo-PGE1 decreased serum interleukin-6 （IL-6） and tumor necrosis factor-a （TNF-a） after myocardial infarction reperfusion （P〈0.05 for both）. Conclusions： lipo-PGE1 is cardioprotective in our porcine model of myocardial infarction reperfusion no-reflow, decreasing NRA and attenuating the inflammatory response.

The hot deformation behavior and microstructures of Al-7055 commercial alloy were investigated by axisymmetric hot compres- sion at temperatures ranging from 300℃ to 450℃ and strain rates from 10^-2 to 10 s^-1, respectively. Microstructures of deformed 7055 alloy were investigated by transmission electron microscopy （TEM）. The dependence of peak stress on deformation temperature and strain rate can be expressed by the hyperbolic-sine type equation. The hot deformation activation energy of the alloy is 146 kJ/mol. Moreover, the flow stress curves predicted by the modified constitutive equations are reasonably consistent with the experimental results, which confirms that the proposed deformation constitutive equations can provide evidence for the selection of hot forming parameters. TEM results indicate that dy- namic recovery is the main softening mechanism during hot deformation.

Though phase I clinical trial of immunotherapy for Alzheimer＇s disease（AD） with inoculated Aβ42 in humans had been proven to be effective,phase II immunotherapy trial was discontinued in 2002 because a few patients developed significant inflammatory reactions caused by C-terminal domain of Aβ*** aim of the study was to investigate the levels and the abilities of antibodies induced by C-terminal truncated Aβ species to inhibit Aβ42 aggregation and cytotoxity in vitro.46-week-old male BALB/c mice,Aβ42 and Aβ28/Aβ35/Aβ42 with a C-terminal eight-histidine tag（Aβ28H8,Aβ35H8,and Aβ42H8） were applied in the present *** mice were randomly divided into 5 groups（n=8）,control mice immunized with the normal saline,Aβ42-immunized mice and Aβ42H-/Aβ35H-/Aβ28H-immunized *** the serum antibodies were evaluated by measuring their abilities to inhibit Aβ42 aggregation and cytotoxity in *** mouse was vaccinated with purified Aβ peptide emulsified with Freund＇s adjuvant（volume ratio 1：1）.Titers,concentrations and isotypes of serum antibodies against Aβ42 were measured by indirect *** of serum antibodies on Aβ42 aggregation and disassembly of Aβ42 fibrils in vitro were observed by electron *** of serum antibodies on Aβ42 cytotoxicity were determined by MTT assay.Aβ42 or Aβ28 could induce higher anti-Aβ42 antibody titer（1：6400） than Aβ35（1：3200）.Significantly,Aβ28 induced more IgG1 and IgG2b isotype antibodies and less IgG2b isotype antibody than other Aβ species though all the induced serum antibodies could inhibit Aβ42 aggregation or fibrillogenesis,could induce the disassembly of Aβ42 aggregates,and neutralized or inhibited the cytotoxicity of Aβ42 in vitro.C-Terminal truncated Aβ28 could induce the same effective but safer serum antibodies against Aβ42 than full length Aβ42 by eliciting more Th2-type immune responses.

The mitogen-activated protein kinase （MAPK） cascade is one of the a pivotal role in the regulation of stress and developmental signals in plants. major and evolutionally conserved signaling pathways and plays Here, we identified one gene, GhMPK6, encoding an MAPK protein in cotton. GFP fluorescence assay demonstrated that GhMAPK6 is a cytoplasm localized protein. Quantitative RT-PCR analysis revealed that mRNA accumulation of GhMPK6 was significantly promoted by abscisic acid （ABA）. Overexpression of GhMPK6 gene in the T-DNA insertion mutant atmkkl （SALK_015914） conferred a wild-type phenotype to the transgenic plants in response to ABA. Under ABA treatment, cotyledon greening/expansion in GhMPK6 transgenic lines and wild type was significantly inhibited, whereas the atmkkl mutant showed a relatively high cotyledon greening/expansion ratio. Furthermore, CAT1 expression and H2O2 levels in leaves of GhMPK6 transgenic lines and wild type were remarkably higher than those of atmkkl mutant with ABA treatment. Collectively, our results suggested that GhMPK6 may play an important role in ABA-induced CAT1 expression and H2O2 production.

Analysis of Synonymous Codon Usage Bias in 09H1N1

A novel subtype of influenza A virus 09H1N1 has rapidly spread across the world. Evolutionary analyses of this virus have revealed that 09H1N1 is a triple reassortant of segments from swine, avian and human influenza viruses. In this study, we investigated factors shaping the codon usage bias of 09H1N1 and carried out cluster analysis of 60 strains of influenza A virus from different subtypes based on their codon usage bias. We discovered that more preferentially used codons of 09H1N1 are A-ended or U-ended, and the intra-genomic codon usage bias of 09H1N1 is quite low. Base composition constraint, dinucleotide biases and translational selection are the main factors influencing the codon usage bias of 09H1N1. At the genome level, we find that the codon usage bias of 09H1N1 is similar to H1N1 (A/swine/Kansas/77778/2007H1N1), H9N2 from Asia, H1N2 from Asia and North America and H3N2 from North America. Our results provide insight for understanding the processes governing evolution, regulation of gene expression, and revealing the evolution of 09H1N1.

Cloning and Preliminary Characterization of Three Receptor-like Kinase Genes in Soybean

Leaf senescence that occurs in the last stage of leaf development is a genetically programmed process. It is very significant to isolate the upstream components in the senescence signaling pathway and to elucidate the molecular mechanisms that control the initiation and progression of leaf senescence. In this study, full-length cDNAs of three receptor-like protein kinase genes, designated rlpkl, rlpk2 and rlpk3, were cloned from artificially-induced senescent soybean （Glycine max L.） primary leaves （GenBank accession AY687390, AY687391, AF338813）. The deduced amino acid sequences indicated that they belonged to a receptor-like kinase family. Each of rlpkl and rlpk2 encodes a leucine-rich repeat （LRR） receptor-like protein kinase. They both comprise a typical signal peptide, several LRR motifs, a single-pass transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic protein kinase domain. No typical extracellular domain of RLPK3 was predicted. Organ-specific expression pattern analysis by reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction （RT-PCR） revealed higher expression levels of the three genes in cotyledons, roots and flowers. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that RLPK1 and RLPK2 belonged to an independent branch, whereas RLPK3 shared common nodes with several known RLKs responding to ablotic and biotic stresses. The evident alternations of expression profiles of rlpkl and rlpk2 induced by the artificial senescence-inducing treatment implied involvements of these two RLKs in regulating soybean leaf senescence.

The fractional resonance absorption ε(0) in transmission Mossbauer spectroscopy is defined as a relative number of the absorbed γ-ray, and regarded as a measure of Mossbauer effect. The absorption linewidth Λ a , as it is usually suggested, is nearly equal to the emission linewidth, Λ s , and such an approximation leads to a extremely simplified expression ε(0), depending on neither Λ s nor Λ a . We consider the general case Λ s ≠Λ a , and obtain an exact expression for ε(0) which is given in the present paper. This expression ε(0), as a function oft a, Λ s , Λ a , is figured and discussed.
