The alternating direction method of multipliers(ADMM)is one of the most successful and powerful methods for separable minimization optimization.Based on the idea of symmetric ADMM in two-block optimization,we add an updating formula for the Lagrange multiplier without restricting its position for multiblock one.Then,combining with the Bregman distance,in this work,a Bregman-style partially symmetric ADMM is presented for nonconvex multi-block optimization with linear constraints,and the Lagrange multiplier is updated twice with different relaxation factors in the iteration scheme.Under the suitable conditions,the global convergence,strong convergence and convergence rate of the presented method are analyzed and obtained.Finally,some preliminary numerical results are reported to support the correctness of the theoretical assertions,and these show that the presented method is numerically effective.

This work is about a splitting method for solving a nonconvex nonseparable optimization problem with linear constraints,where the objective function consists of two separable functions and a coupled term.First,based on the ideas from Bregman distance and Peaceman–Rachford splitting method,the Bregman Peaceman–Rachford splitting method with different relaxation factors for the multiplier is proposed.Second,the global and strong convergence of the proposed algorithm are proved under general conditions including the region of the two relaxation factors as well as the crucial Kurdyka–Łojasiewicz property.Third,when the associated Kurdyka–Łojasiewicz property function has a special structure,the sublinear and linear convergence rates of the proposed algorithm are guaranteed.Furthermore,some preliminary numerical results are shown to indicate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Carbon nanofiber(CNF)is considered a promising material due to its excellent physical and chemical properties.This paper proposes a novel way to transform CO_(2) into heteroatom-doped CNFs,with the introduction of Fe,Co,and Ni as catalysts.When the electrolyte containing Ni O,Co2O3,and Fe_(2)O_(3) was employed,sulfur-doped CNFs in various diameters were obtained.With the introduction of Fe catalyst,the obtained sulfur-doped CNFs showed the smallest and tightest diameter distributions.The obtained sulfur-doped CNFs had high gravimetric capacitance(achieved by SDG-Fe)that could reach 348.5 F/g at 0.5 A/g,excellent cycling stability,and good rate performance.For comparison purposes,both Fe and nickel cathodes were tested,where the active metal atom at their surface could act as catalyst.In these two situations,sulfur-doped graphite sheet and sulfur-doped graphite quasi-sphere were the main products.

Photo-stimuli responsive materials show great potential in the fields of information encryption and storage due to their distinctive spatial or temporal color changes.However,the conventional single or multi-color static outputs by light stimulus difficulty meet practical requirements for high-security optical storage technologies.Here,a novel dynamic irradiation-responsive phosphor of Na_(2)Ba_(2)Si_(2)O_(7):Eu is demonstrated,exhibiting high storage stability and convenient readout behaviors.The inherent Eu^(2+)luminescence can be dynamically tuned,instantly read out,and conveniently erased by controlling irradiation duration of a portable diode laser(365 nm).The modulation mechanism is unraveled by optically induced oxidation reactions of Eu^(2+)→Eu^(3+)and defects as killer centers.The excellent luminescence modulation degree(ΔRt=89.5%)and the accompanying larger color contrast enable the creation of invisible optical codes with multi-level encryption in bright or dark field.These results indicate potential applications of Na_(2)Ba_(2)Si_(2)O_(7):-based materials in information encryption and invisible optical storage,and are expected to expand more investigations on optically induced PL modulation behaviors based on mixed valences and defects.

The helium bubbles induced by 14 MeV neutron irradiation can cause intergranular fractures in reduced activation ferritic martensitic steel,which is a candidate structural material for fusion reactors.In order to elucidate the susceptibility of different grain boundaries(GBs)to helium-induced embrittlement,the tensile fracture processes of 10 types of GBs with and without helium bubbles in body-centered cubic(bcc)iron at the relevant service temperature of 600 K were investigated via molecular dynamics methods.The results indicate that in the absence of helium bubbles,the GBs studied here can be classified into two distinct categories:brittle GBs and ductile GBs.The atomic scale analysis shows that the plastic deformation of ductile GB at high temperatures originates from complex plastic deformation mechanisms,including the Bain/Burgers path phase transition and deformation twinning,in which the Bain path phase transition is the most dominant plastic deformation mechanism.However,the presence of helium bubbles severely inhibits the plastic deformation channels of the GBs,resulting in a significant decrease in elongation at fractures.For bubble-decorated GBs,the ultimate tensile strength increases with the increase in the misorientation angle.Interestingly,the coherent twin boundary∑3{112}was found to maintain relatively high fracture strength and maximum failure strain under the influence of helium bubbles.

Digital assets have boomed over the past few years with the emergence of Non-fungible Tokens(NFTs).To be specific,the total trading volume of digital assets reached an astounding$55.5 billion in 2022.Nevertheless,numerous security concerns have been raised by the rapid expansion of the NFT ecosystem.NFT holders are exposed to a plethora of scams and traps,putting their digital assets at risk of being lost.However,academic research on NFT security is scarce,and the security issues have aroused rare attention.In this study,the NFT ecological process is comprehensively explored.This process falls into five different stages encompassing the entire lifecycle of NFTs.Subsequently,the security issues regarding the respective stage are elaborated and analyzed in depth.A matrix model is proposed as a novel contribution to the categorization of NFT security issues.Diverse data are collected from social networks,the Ethereum blockchain,and NFT markets to substantiate our claims regarding the severity of security concerns in the NFT ecosystem.From this comprehensive dataset,nine key NFT security issues are identified from the matrix model and then subjected to qualitative and quantitative analysis.This study aims to shed light on the severity of NFT ecosystem security issues.The findings stress the need for increased attention and proactive measures to safeguard the NFT ecosystem.

Glioma is a common tumor originating in the brain that has a high mortality rate.Temozolomide(TMZ)is the first-line treatment for high-grade gliomas.However,a large pro-portion of gliomas are resistant to TMZ,posing a great challenge to their treatment.In the study,the specific functions and mechanism(s)by which cortistatin(CORT)regulates TMZ resis-tance and glioma progression were evaluated.The decreased expression of CoRT was detected in glioma tissues,and highly expressed CORT was associated with a better survival rate in pa-tients with glioma.CORT overexpression notably decreased the capacity of glioma cells to pro-liferate and migrate in vitro and to form tumors in vivo.CORT overexpression also markedly suppressed the viability and enhanced the apoptosis of TMZ-resistant U251 cells by regulating MGMT,p21,and Puma expression.Importantly,CORT overexpression reduced the resistance of gliomas to TMZ in vivo.CORT expression Was negatively correlated with MGMT expression in both glioma tissues and cells,and it was found that CORT inhibited NF-kB pathway activation in glioma cells,thereby inhibiting MGMT expression.In conclusion,CORT regulates glioma cell growth,migration,apoptosis,and TMZ resistance by weakening the activity of NF-kB/p65 and thereby regulating MGMT expression.The CORT/NF-kB/MGMT axis might be regarded as a molecular mechanism contributing to the resistance of glioma to TMZ.Our data also suggest that CORT regulates the viability and metastatic potential of glioma cells,independent of its effects on TMZ resistance,providing evidence of novel therapeutic targets for glioma that should be evaluated infurther studies.

The limited infiltration and persistence of chimeric antigen receptor(CAR)-T cells is primarily responsible for their treatment deficits in solid tumors. Here, we present a three-dimensional scaffold, inspired by the physiological process of T-cell proliferation in lymph nodes. This scaffold gathers the function of loading,delivery, activation and expansion for CAR-T cells to enhance their therapeutic effects on solid tumors. This porous device is made from poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) by a microfluidic technique with the modification of T-cell stimulatory signals, including anti-CD3, anti-CD28 antibodies, as well as cytokines. This scaffold fosters a 50-fold CAR-T cell expansion in vitro and a 15-fold cell expansion in vivo. Particularly, it maintains long-lasting expansion of CAR-T cells for up to 30 days in a cervical tumor model and significantly inhibits the tumor growth. This biomimetic delivery strategy provides a versatile platform of cell delivery and activation for CAR-T cells in treating solid tumors.

Assessment of cheese sign and its association with vascular risk factors: Data from PUMCH dementia cohort

Background: In the clinic, practitioners encounter many patients with an abnormal pattern of dense punctate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) signal in the basal ganglia, a phenomenon known as "cheese sign". This sign is reported as common in cerebrovascular diseases, dementia, and old age. Recently, cheese sign has been speculated to consist of dense perivascular space (PVS). This study aimed to assess the lesion types of cheese sign and analyze the correlation between this sign and vascular disease risk factors.Methods: A total of 812 patients from Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) dementia cohort were enrolled. We analyzed the relationship between cheese sign and vascular risk. For assessing cheese sign and defining its degree, the abnormal punctate signals were classified into basal ganglia hyperintensity (BGH), PVS, lacunae/infarctions and microbleeds, and counted separately. Each type of lesion was rated on a four-level scale, and then the sum was calculated; this total was defined as the cheese sign score. Fazekas and Age-Related White Matter Changes (ARWMC) scores were used to evaluate the paraventricular, deep, and subcortical gray/white matter hyperintensities.Results: A total of 118 patients (14.5%) in this dementia cohort were found to have cheese sign. Age (odds ratio [OR]: 1.090, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.064-1.120,P <0.001), hypertension (OR: 1.828, 95% CI: 1.123-2.983,P = 0.014), and stroke (OR: 1.901, 95% CI: 1.092-3.259,P = 0.025) were risk factors for cheese sign. There was no significant relationship between diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and cheese sign. The main components of cheese sign were BGH, PVS, and lacunae/infarction. The proportion of PVS increased with cheese sign severity.Conclusions: The risk factors for cheese sign were hypertension, age, and stroke. Cheese sign consists of BGH, PVS, and lacunae/infarction.

Evaluation of water management on arsenic methylation and volatilization in arsenic-contaminated soils strengthened by bioaugmentation and biostimulation

Arsenic(As) fate in paddy fields has been one of the most significant current issues due to the strong As accumulation potential of rice plants under fooded conditions. However,no attempt was done to explore As methylation and volatilization under non-fooded conditions. Herein, we investigated the effects of water management on As methylation and volatilization in three arsenic-contaminated soils enhanced by biostimulation with strawderived organic matter and bioaugmentation with genetic engineered Pseudomonas putida KT2440(GE P. putida). Under fooded conditions, the application of biochar(BC), rice straw(RS)and their combination(BC+RS) increased total As in porewater. However, these effects were greatly attenuated under non-fooded conditions. Compared with RS amendment alone, the combination of GE P. putida and RS further promoted the As methylation and volatilization,and the promotion percentage under non-fooded conditions were significantly higher than that under fooded conditions. The combined GE P. putida and RS showed the highest efficiency in As methylation(88 μg/L) and volatilization(415.4 μg/(kg·year)) in the non-fooded soil with moderate As contamination. Finally, stepwise multiple linear regression analysis presented that methylated As, DOC and p H in porewater were the most important factors contributing to As volatilization. Overall, our findings suggest that combination of bioaugmentation with GE P. putida and biostimulation with RS/BC+RS is a potential strategy for bioremediation of arsenic-contaminated soils by enhancing As methylation and volatilization under non-fooded conditions.
