Westward Migration of Tropical Cyclone Activity in the Western North Pacific during 1982–2020:Features and Possible Causes

The westward migration of tropical cyclone(TC)activity has been identified in the western North Pacific(WNP),but the related features and causes remain ***,based on the best track data from China,Japan,and the US,and the NCEP–NCAR reanalysis data in 1982–2020,we investigate characteristics of the westward migration of the WNP TC activity with various metrics,and reveal possible causes for the migration of TC tracks through analyzing its seasonality and dependence on environmental *** results show that the WNP TCs show significant westward migrations in a number of metrics,including location of tracks,genesis,the first track point at which TC reaches its lifetime-maximum intensity,and the last track point in the TC *** is found that TC tracks exhibit more significant westward migrations in the easterly steering flow than in the westerly steering ***,the TC longitude shift shows notable seasonal variations,for which the TCs in the easterlies move further west than those in the westerlies during July–September,vice versa during October–*** dependence of the westward migration of TC tracks on background steering flow is associated with the different environmental *** westward shift in the westerly steering is mainly due to the reduced vertical wind shear(VWS),while the weakened zonal easterly steering and reduced VWS are both closely related to the westward migration in the easterly *** results have important implications for understanding current and future variations in TC longitude shift.

Sulphur-template method for facile manufacturing porous silicon electrodes with enhanced electrochemical performance

Sulphur(S)-template method based on conventional slurry-casting method has been developed to pro-duce porous silicon(Si)*** facile fabrication technology is suitable for current production line and expected to be widely applied to various electrode materials under large volume change during ***,S particles as template agent are mixed with active material Si,carbon conductor and binder forming uniform *** casting and drying,the electrodes are immersed in carbon disul-fide solution to remove S particles rapidly,generating pores in-situ at the original position of S *** analysis shows that the pores inside electrodes are able to shorten lithium ion diffusion paths,reduce normal expansion rate and decrease formation of cracks in the Si electrode(2 mg_(Si)/cm^(2)),demonstrating a reversible capacity of 951 mAh/g at 0.5 A/g after 1.0 cycles(with a capacity retention of 99.5%)and a capacity of-826 mAh/g at 2 A/g.

Macrophages,a heterogeneous population of innate immune cells,exhibit remarkable plasticity and play pivotal roles in coordinating immune responses and maintaining tissue homeostasis within the context of metabolic *** activation of inflammatory macrophages in obese adipose tissue leads to detrimental effects,inducing insulin resistance through increased inflammation,impaired thermogenesis,and adipose tissue ***,adipose tissue macrophages also play a beneficial role in maintaining adipose tissue homeostasis by regulating angiogenesis,facilitating the clearance of dead adipocytes,and promoting mitochondrial *** the heterogeneity of macrophages in obese adipose tissue is crucial for unraveling the pathogenesis of obesity and holds significant potential for targeted therapeutic ***,the dual effects and some potential regulatory mechanisms of macrophages in adipose tissue have been elucidated using single-cell *** this review,we present a comprehensive overview of the intricate activation mechanisms and diverse functions of macrophages in adipose tissue during obesity,as well as explore the potential of drug delivery systems targeting macrophages,aiming to enhance the understanding of current regulatory mechanisms that may be potentially targeted for treating obesity or metabolic diseases.

In multicellular organisms,developmental history of cell divisions and functional annotation of terminal cells can be organized into a cell lineage tree(CLT).The reconstruction of the CLT has long been a major goal in developmental biology and other related *** technological advancements,especially those in editable genomic barcodes and single-cell high-throughput sequencing,have sparked a new wave of experimental methods for reconstructing *** we review the existing experimental approaches to the reconstruction of CLT,which are broadly categorized as either image-based or DNA barcode-based *** addition,we present a summary of the related literature based on the biological insight pro-vided by the obtained ***,we discuss the challenges that will arise as more and better CLT data become available in the near *** barcoding-based CLT reconstructions and analyses,due to their wide applicability and high scalability,offer the potential for novel biological discoveries,especially those related to general and systemic properties of the developmental process.

The conserved DNA damage repair complex,MMS21-SMC5/6(Methyl methane sulfonate 21-Structural maintenance of chromosomes 5/6),has been extensively studied in yeast,animals,and ***,its role in phytopathogenic fungi,particularly in the highly destructive rice blast fungus Magnaporthe oryzae,remains *** this study,we functionally characterized the homologues of this complex,MoMMS21 and MoSMC5,in *** first demonstrated the importance of DNA damage repair in *** by showing that the DNA damage inducer phleomycin inhibited vegetative growth,infection-related development and pathogenicity in this ***,we discovered that MoMMS21 and MoSMC5 interacted in the nuclei,suggesting that they also function as a complex in *** deletion experiments revealed that both MoMMS21 and MoSMC5 are required for infection-related development and pathogenicity in ***,while only MoMMS21 deletion affected growth and sensitivity to phleomycin,indicating its specific involvement in DNA damage ***,our results provide insights into the roles of MoMMS21 and MoSMC5 in ***,highlighting their functions beyond DNA damage repair.

Rapid Simultaneous Determination of Four Ganoderic Acids in Ganoderma(Chinese Name:Lingzhi)by Direct Infusion-Multiple Reaction Monitoring Cubed

Attributing to the rapid demand expansion for the edible medicinal materials in the market,the limited throughput of highperformance liquid chromatography-multiple reaction monitoring(HPLC-MRM)cannot fully address the measurement workload for a huge number of testing ***,it is urgent to pursue more efficient approaches for the quality *** of the greater selectivity of MRM cubed(MRM^(3))over MRM,there might be a chance to omit the time-intensive LC *** current study,we attempted to develop a direct infusion(DI)-MRM^(3) program,and the applicability was thereafter assessed through simultaneous determination of four ganoderic acids(GAs)in one of the most famous tonic herbal medicines namely Ganoderma(Chinese name:Lingzhi).Primary parameters such as Q1>Q3>QLIT ion transitions,collision energy(CE),and excitation energy were optimized by programming online energy-resolved mass spectrometry with authentic compounds.A single DI-MRM measurement merely costed four minutes,and in spite of the wide occurrences of isomers,satisfactory selectivity was *** validation assays demonstrated the method to be sensitive,precise,accurate,and *** quantitative results from DI-MRM^(3) were also justified by conducting LC-MRM measurements in *** differences occurred for the content patterns between the two original sources namely Ganoderma lucidum and ***,and,moreover,either cultivar or harvest time showed dramatical influence on the quantitative features of the four targeted *** importantly,DI-MRM3 is a meaningful analytical option for rapid quantitative analysis of herbal medicines,because of the comparable reliability,nonetheless,less consumptions of both measurement time and solvent,compared with LC-MRM.

Elevation response of above-ground net primary productivity for Picea crassifolia to climate change in Qilian Mountains of Northwest China based on tree rings

Current ecosystem models used to simulate global terrestrial carbon balance generally suggest that terrestrial landscapes are stable and mature,but terrestrial net primary productivity(NPP)data estimated without accounting for disturbances in species composition,environment,structure,and ecological characteristics will reduce the accuracy of the global carbon ***,the steady-state assumption and neglect of elevation-related changes in forest NPP is a *** Qilian Mountains are located in continental climate zone,and vegetation is highly sensitive to climate *** quantified aboveground biomass(AGB)and aboveground net primary productivity(ANPP)sequences at three elevations using field-collected tree rings of Picea crassifolia in Qilian Mountains of Northwest *** results showed that(1)There were significant differences between AGB and ANPP at the three elevations,and the growth rate of AGB was the highest at the low elevation(55.99 t ha^(–1)10a^(–1)).(2)There are differences in the response relationship between the ANPP and climate factors at the three elevations,and drought stress is the main climate signal affecting the change of ANPP.(3)Under the future climate scenario,drought stress intensifies,and the predicted decline trend of ANPP at the three elevations from mid-century to the end of this century is–0.025 t ha^(–1)10a^(–1),respectively;–0.022 t ha^(–1)10a^(–1);At–0.246 t ha^(–1)10a^(–1),the level of forest productivity was significantly *** results reveal the elevation gradient differences in forest productivity levels and provide key information for studying the carbon sink potential of boreal forests.

AHLNet:Adaptive Multihead Structure and Lightweight Feature Pyramid Network for Detection of Live Working in Substations

With the increasing demand for power in society,there is much live equipment in substations,and the safety and standardization of live working of workers are facing *** at these problems of scene complexity and object diversity in the real-time detection of the live working safety of substation workers,an adaptive multihead structure and lightweight feature pyramid-based network(AHLNet)is proposed in this study,which is based on ***,we take AH-Darknet53 as the backbone network of YOLOV3,which can introduce an adaptive multihead(AMH)structure,reduce the number of network parameters,and improve the feature extraction ability of the backbone ***,to reduce the number of convolution layers of the deeper feature map,a lightweight feature pyramid network(LFPN)is proposed,which can perform feature fusion in advance to alleviate the problem of feature imbalance and gradient ***,the proposed AHLNet is evaluated on the datasets of 16 categories of substation safety operation scenarios,and the average prediction accuracy MAP_(50)reaches 82.10%.Compared with YOLOV3,MAP_(50)is increased by 2.43%,and the number of parameters is 90 M,which is only 38%of the number of parameters of *** addition,the detection speed is basically the same as that of YOLOV3,which can meet the real-time and accurate detection requirements for the safe operation of substation staff.

Experimental and numerical study on atmospheric-pressure air dielectric barrier discharge via 50 Hz/5000 Hz dual-frequency excitation

A dual-frequency(DF)dielectric barrier discharge,excited by the superposition of a 50 Hz low frequency(LF)and a 5000 Hz intermediate frequency(IF),is proposed to enhance *** effect of the LF voltage component on the breakdown behaviour of the DF discharge during different periods has been studied both experimentally and *** number of high-current pulses rises as the LF voltage *** statistical analysis shows that the number of the current pulse amplitude above 80 mA in the DF discharge reaches nearly 6 times that in the IF ***,the total discharge energy in the DF discharge is significantly higher than that in the IF *** simulation re-produces the temporal variation of the breakdown behaviours in the DF *** simulated results reveal that the maximal electric field strength of the breakdown process is greater in the DF discharge compared to the IF discharge during a half-period of ***,the comparison between the IF and DF discharges exhibits that the LF voltage regulates the accumulation of residual charged species on the dielectric surface after the breakdown by modulating the residual voltage between the air gap.

Elucidating and manipulating pressure-induced water intrusion–extrusion in tunable hydrophobic Co/Zn bimetallic ZIFs:Roles of pore size and hydrogen bond

Porous heterogeneous lyophobic systems(HLSs)find potential applications in energy restoring,dissipating,and ***,the development of controllable HLSs still lacks rational structure design of nanoporous materials matching the molecular sizes of adopted *** that,thoroughly understanding the underlying transportation mechanism in the confined nano channels is greatly *** this work,a series of Co/Zn bimetallic zeolitic imidazolate frameworks(ZIFs)with tunable structures were synthesized via regulating the Co to Zn ratios and employed to investigate the intrusion–extrusion of liquid water in confined *** characterizations confirm the heterometallic coordination in the Co/Zn-doped *** intrusion–extrusion experiments unlock the relationship between the intrusion pressure and the nanopore size and realize the evolution of the HLSs between molecular spring and *** addition,cycling tests indicate the reversible structure change of Co/Zn ZIFs encountering pressure-induced water *** combination with molecular dynamics simulations,we present that the water multimers intrude into nanopores of ZIFs in chain-like forms along with dissociation of hydrogen bonds(HBs).Water molecules in the pre-intrusion state exhibit reduced HBs in response to the increase of pressure and linear structure with 1.6–3.0 HBs on *** transition to the post-intrusion situation,the associative configuration of water tends to exhibit the tetrahedral ***,we highlight the roles of pore size and HB in synergically dominating the pressure-induced intrusion–extrusion of liquid water in hydrophobic ***,the present work can also guide the development of functional guest–host systems based on porous architectures.
