A new hybrid approach to assessing soil quality using neutrosophic fuzzy-AHP and support vector machine algorithm in sub-humid ecosystem

Soil quality determination and estimation is an important issue not only for terrestrial ecosystems but also for sustainable management of *** this study,soil quality was determined by linear and nonlinear standard scoring function methods integrated with a neutrosophic fuzzy analytic hierarchy process in the micro *** addition,soil quality values were estimated using a support vector machine(SVM)in machine learning *** order to generate spatial distribution maps of soil quality indice values,different interpolation methods were evaluated to detect the most suitable semivariogram *** the soil quality index values obtained by the linear method were determined between 0.458-0.717,the soil quality index with the nonlinear method showed variability at the levels of *** was no statistical difference between the two methods,and they were determined to be *** the estimation of soil quality with SVM,the normalized root means square error(NRMSE)values obtained in the linear and nonlinear method estimation were determined as 0.057 and 0.047,*** spherical model of simple kriging was determined as the interpolation method with the lowest RMSE value in the actual and predicted values of the linear method while,in the nonlinear method,the lowest error in the distribution maps was determined with exponential of the simple kriging.

Morphometric analysis of facial and cochlear nerves in normal-hearing ears using 3D-CISS

Purpose:The aim of the current study was to establish a normative data set for the morphometric parameters of the facial nevre(FN)and cochlear nevre(CN)according to age and sex in the adult population,using 3-dimensional constructive interference in steady state(3D-CISS)sequence on magnetic resonance ***:We retrospectively analyzed 157 ears of 102 adults with no hearing impairment,facial palsy or Meniere's *** vertical(VD)and horizontal(HD)diameters as well as cross-sectional areas(CSAs)of the FNs and CNs were measured on the parasagittal oblique image created using the axial 3D-CISS sections passing through the internal acoustic *** related the measurement results with side,sex and ***:The mean VD,HD and CSA of the FNs were 1.09±0.18 mm,0.84±0.17 mm,and 0.75±0.27mm^2,respectively,whereas those of the CNs were 1.34±0.17 mm,1±0.15mm and 1.06±0.3mm^2,*** was no statistically significant difference between the morphometric parameters of both the nerves according to side or sex(P>0.05).However,except for the CSA of the FNs among males,we found a statistically significant decrease in all the morphometric parameters of both the nerves with ageing(P<0.05).Conclusion:The normative morphometric data obtained in this study can be beneficial in clinical applications for sensorineural hearing loss,facial palsy and Meniere's disease.

IMPACTS OF CONSTRUCTION RISKS ON COSTS IN LEED-CERTIFIED PROJECTS

Construction according to green principles rather than traditional methods poses a new set of risks to project *** risks should be appropriately identified and managed in order to prevent cost *** study aims to identify construction risks and their cost impacts in LEED-certified *** this purpose,thirteen risks were identified based on a literature survey and were categorized under four groups of issues:(i)consultant,contractor and subcon-tractor,(ii)material,product and process,(iii)legal,regulatory and contractual,and(iv)financial and economic.A survey was then administered to green build-ing design and construction practitioners in the *** assess the likelihood of occurrence of these risks and their respective impacts on project *** to the survey results,the risks associated with consultant,contractor and subcon-tractor issues have the highest expected impact on *** top five risk factors were determined as(1)contractors and subcontractors agreeing to standards that are not within their expertise and competence,(2)high cost of certification,(3)lack of expertise in new products/technologies,(4)doubts about the long-term viability and performance of new and untested products,materials and tech-nologies,and(5)inadequate definition of project parties’contractual roles and *** the cost impact of risks is of great value to owners and designers and *** the risks associated with LEED-certified projects and their cost impacts can be of benefit to all practitioners.

This paper is concerned with the detailed analysis of the behavior of a piezoceramic bi-morph torsion actuator using the d_(15)-*** bi-morph actuator is made of two oppositely polarized adjacent piezoceramic prismatic *** mathematical analysis is based on the Saint-Venant torsion theory;a formulation of the electromechanically coupled problem in terms of a stress function and of the electric potential is derived,which represents an exact solution of a specific three-dimensional problem;in particular,for the case when the axial stress and the axial component of the electric displacement vector are independent of the axial *** resulting boundary-value problem in the cross-section is solved using the method of finite *** for the actuated rate of twist are presented and compared to three-dimensional electromechanically coupled finite element solutions using ABAQUS®for the case of a cantilevered bi-morph actuator.A very good agreement is found.

Laser treatment in 341 patients with exudative agerelated macular degeneration

AIM:To document the prognosis of laser treatment in patients with exudative age-related macular degeneration(AMD).· METHODS:Efficacy of the intervention was evaluated using a before-after method.· RESULTS:A total of 392 eyes of 341 patients with exudative AMD were examined.77.6% had choroideal neovascularisation(CNV).Before the use of indocyanine green(ICG) angiography,occult CNV was detected in only 1.8% of the eyes,but after the use of ICG angiography,this increased to 19.5%(P<0.001).Of the 349 eyes which were followed up,visual acuity had remained stable in 68.2% of the *** was a statistically significant relationship between localisation of lesion and visual acuity changes on pre-and post-laser treatment(P<0.001).Also there was a statistically significant relationship between localisation of lesion and recurrence(P<0.05).The recurrence was less in subfoveal lesions than that in juxtafoveal and extrafoveal lesions.· CONCLUSION:ICG angiography is highly important in the treatment of occult CNV.

Effect of dorzolamide-timolol fixed combination prophylaxis on intraocular pressure spikes after intravitreal bevacizumab injection

AIM: To evaluate the effect of topical dorzolamide-timolol fixed combination prophylaxis on short term intraocular pressure(IOP) changes in patients who had intravitreal bevacizumab ***: One hundred and fifty one eyes of 151 patients which were followed up in retina clinic in Ulucanlar Eye Training and Research Hospital were evaluated in this study. Patients were divided into two groups. Group 1 consists of 75 patients who had topical dorzolamid-timolol medication two hours before injection;while Group 2 consists of 76 patients without prophylaxis. Demographic data, IOP measurements prior to the injection and one, thirty and sixty minutes and twenty-four hours after the injection were recorded. The data were analyzed using SPSS software version 15.0(SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA).RESULTS: There were no significant difference between two groups in age, gender distrubition and indications for injections. The mean IOPs in Groups 1 and 2 prior to the injection(T0) were 17.84±0.43 and 18.15±0.43 mm Hg,one minute after the injection(T1) were 29.75 ±1.6 and34.44 ±1.59 mm Hg, 30 minutes after the injection(T30)were 20.06 ±0.6 and 21.71 ±0.59 mm Hg respectively. The mean IOPs were 18.26 ±0.56 mm Hg in Group 1 and19.78 ±0.56 mm Hg in Group 2 sixty minutes after the injection(T60). All IOP values after the injection were compared between two groups, there was a significant difference between two groups only on T1; one minute after the injection(P =0.04). There were a statisciallysignificant difference between the baseline values and other recorded values; except on T60, in Groups 1 and 2(P <0.05).CONCLUSION: After intravitreal bevacizumab injection;we observe a transient IOP elevation which normalizes about one hour after intravitreal injection. In patients who had topical dorzolamid-timolol combination prophylaxis before injections, a significant decrease is seen in IOP spikes due to this injection. Effect of four different intraocular lenses on posterior capsule opacification

AIM: To evaluate the impact of 4 different intraocular lenses(IOLs) on posterior capsule opacification(PCO) by comparing the neodymium: yttrium-aluminum-garnet(Nd:YAG) laser capsulotomy ***: This retrospective study included 4970 eyes of 4013 cataract patients who underwent phacoemulsification and IOL implantation between January 2000 and January 2008 by the same surgeon at one clinic. Four different IOLs were assessed. The outcome parameter was the incidence of Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomies.· RESULTS: An Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy was performed in 153(3.07%) of the 4970 eyes. The mean follow-up time was 84 mo for all of the IOL groups. The percentage of eyes developing PCO was significantly greater for the acrylic hydrophilic IOLs than for the hydrophobic IOLs, although eyes with acrylic hydrophilic IOLs did not require Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy as soon as eyes with acrylic hydrophobic IOLs. There was no difference between the long-term PCO rates when 1-and 3-piece acrylic hydrophobic IOLs were compared or when IOLs made of the same material but with different haptic angles were compared.· CONCLUSION: In this study, eyes with acrylic hydrophilic IOLs were more likely to develop PCO than those with acrylic hydrophobic IOLs. The lens design(1-piece versus 3-piece and varying haptic angles) did not affect the PCO rate.

A 3D in vitro co-culture model for evaluating biomaterial-mediated modulation of foreign-body responses

The immune response after implantation of a biomaterial may shorten the functional life of the implant,depending on the degree of the *** this study,we used a polyacrylamide-alginate(PAAm-Alg)hydrogel,which has been previously characterized as a biocompatible material and shown to enhance regeneration of cartilage in vivo,along with a graphiteenhanced hydrogel(PAAm-Alg-G)as a non-biocompatible counterpart,to evaluate macrophage attachment and polarization to pro-or anti-inflammatory *** performance of each biomaterial in the presence of fibroblasts and chondrocytes was validated by an in vitro model which demonstrated modulation of the foreign-body response.A blend of 5%gelatin methacryloyl and 0.1%methacrylated hyaluronic acid was optimized to mimic the extracellular matrix(ECM)and support cell viability,proliferation,migration,and functionality at an initial concentration of 3.25×10^(5) cells/*** PAAm-Alg-G hydrogel localized in the simulated ECM showed cytotoxic and genotoxic effects for both fibroblasts and chondrocytes,while exhibiting a proliferative effect on macrophages with elevated immune *** M1/M2 ratio was 0.73 for PAAm-Alg hydrogel but 2.64 for PAAm-Alg-G,leading to significant M1 dominance(p0.05).The interleukin-6(IL-6)concentration secreted in the presence of PAAm-Alg hydrogel(4.58 pg/mL)significantly decreased(p<0.0001)on day 13,while the increase(p<0.0001)in interleukin-10(IL-10)concentration(120.73 pg/mL)confirmed the switch from a pro-inflammatory to an anti-inflammatory *** immune responses by developing a simplistic yet powerful three-dimensional in vitro model provides advantages in preparing for clinical use of biomaterials.

Tomato brown rugose fruit virus(ToBRFV)causes severe fruit loss in tomato(Solanum lycopersicum)and pepper(Capsicum annuum)*** is an emerging Tobamovirus that is spreading *** major challenge is to develop a reliable method for the detection of the virus,and to better characterize the symptoms it *** aims of this study,therefore,were to characterize the symptom development on tomato and pepper plants,and to establish a reliable detection method for the *** infection of the tomato and pepper plants with ToBRFV,the leaves turned chlorotic,mosaic or mottled,while the fruit became rugose,necrotic and marbled,and showed discoloration with yellow or brown *** electron microscopy(TEM)revealed single rod-like virus particles characteristic of the *** reverse transcription PCR(RT-PCR)and quantitative PCR(qPCR)with specific primers and probes confirmed that the virus is *** found that the resistance genes from tomato,Tm-2^(2),and pepper,L1,L2,L3 and L4,did not confer resistance to ***,we present a PCR-based method as a diagnostic test for detecting ToBRFV in infected *** method will help to prevent further spread of the virus in commercial seeds.

Comparison of total/active ghrelin levels in primary open angle glaucoma,pseudoexfoliation glaucoma and pseudoexfoliation syndrome

AIM：To investigate the levels of ghrelin（Gh）,acylated ghrelin（AGh） and AGh/Gh ratio in the humor aqueous（HA） of cases with pseudoexfoliation syndrome（PXS）,pseudoexfoliation glaucoma（PXG）,primary open angle glaucoma（POAG） and to compare these with control ***：A prospective examination was made of the total Gh,and AGh levels in HA of 67 patients undergoing cataract *** were divided into 4 *** samples were aspirated at the beginning of the surgery,stored at -70℃.Gh and AGh quantification was performed with ELISA kits and the AGh/total-Gh ratios were ***,Kruskal-Wallis,Chi-square and post-hoc tests were used for statistical ***：Total Gh levels in HA were 189.2±45.6 pg/mL in the control group,199.2±32.9 pg/mL in PXS,180.6±20.9 pg/mL in PXG and 176.8±21.4 pg/mL in POAG groups（P〉0.05）.AGh levels in HA were 23.09±5.01 pg/mL in the control group,24.13±5.22 pg/mL in PXS,22.29±1.55 pg/m L in PXG and 19.69±2.93 pg/mL in POAG groups（P〉0.05）.The ratio of AGh/Gh was 10.3%±2.34% in the control group,13.03%±2.58% in PXS,12.3%±1.54% in PXG and 11.79%±1.41% in POAG groups（P=0.044）.The difference between the PXS and control groups was significant（P=0.03）.CONCLUSION：In spite of statistically insignificant results,the HA total Gh levels were lower than those of the control subjects but not parallel with the AGh levels in glaucoma *** relative increase in the AGh/Gh ratio in glaucoma cases supports the view that proportional increases of AGh might play a role in the pathogenesis of glaucoma.
