The teracluster LSSC-II installed at the State Key Laboratory of Scientific and Engineering Computing, chinese Academy of Sciences is one of the most powerful PC clusters in china. It has a peek performance of 2Tflops. With a Unpack performance of 1.04.flops, it is ranked at the 4.rd place in the 20th TOP500 List (November 2002), 51st place in the 21st TOP500 List (June 2003), and the 82nd place in the 22nd TOP500 List (November 2003) with a new Linpack performance of 1.3Tflops. In this paper, we present some design principles of this cluster, as well as its applications in some large-scale numerical simulations.

The proton resonant properties in 18Ne, which determine the reaction rate of the key stellar 14.(α,p)17F reaction, have been studied by using a technique of proton resonant elastic scattering of 17F+p. A 4.22 MeV/nucleon 17F radioactive ion (RI) beam was produced via a projectile-fragmentation reaction, and separated by a Radioactive Ion Beam Line in Lanzhou (RIBLL). By bombarding a thick (CH2)n target, the energy spectra of the recoiled protons were measured by two ΔE-E silicon telescopes at the center-of-mass scattering angles of θc.m.≈175°±5°, θc.m.≈152°±8°, respectively. Several proton resonances in 18Ne were ob served clearly. A further R-matrix analysis of the experimental data is under way to determine the resonant parameters. The present work reports the preliminary results briefly.

The surface wave signals produced in natural seismic are “intact“ and complex, it is the key which eliminating the noise from that signals if we wanted to invert the structure of the earth using the true signal which the earth *** inter-station fundamental-mode surface wave attenuation coefficient was calculated combined the phase-match filter with frequency-domain Wiener filter. The first, we separated the fundamental-mode surface wave from different two original signal which recorded on two stations which are on one big-circle path using phase-matched filter, and then calculating the attenuation coefficient using frequency domain Wiener filter. It is avoided the negative attenuation coefficient that can't be explained. All of this are the base of inverting the inter structure of the earth.

Objective Alzheimer’s disease,the most common form of dementia,is characterized by the presence of excessive deposits of aggregated P-amyloid(Aβ) peptides,which are derived from the P-amyloid precursor protein(APP) following processing byβ-secretase andγ-*** environmental factors are involed in the pathogenesis of AD, including nutrition and metal *** content have been reported to decrease in AD brain ***, the exact role of mg on the neurodegenerative process in AD brain remains to be clearly *** In this study, we investigate the effects of various concentration of magnesium on APP cleavage,Aβformation and degradation. Results Here we show that varying[Mg]o induced both dose and time dependent effect on APP *** 24.h treatment,[Mg]o at high doses favored a-secretase pathway,increased CTFαlevel and sAPPαrelease,and promoted retention of APP on cell *** contrast,[Mg]o at low doses resulted in accumulation of amyloidogenic fragments(i. ***) increased secreted Aβin conditioned media,and reduced the distribution of APP on plasma *** levels of full length APP,insulin degrading enzyme and neprilysin were not changed under any ***,complete deficiency of magnesium in media for 24.h decreased total intracellular magnesium level,impaired cell viability and reduced neprilysin enzyme *** 24.h incubation with physical concentration of magnesium(i.e.0.8 mM),restored normal APP *** These findings demonstrate that APP processing can be modulated by magnesium, with[Mg]o at high doses promotingα-cleavage of APP and suggest that supplementation of this element might have a therapeutic potential in Alzheimer’s disease.
