Predictors of the outcomes of acute-on-chronic hepatitis B liver failure

AIM:To identify the risk factors in predicting the outcome of acute-on-chronic hepatitis B liver failure ***:We retrospectively divided 113 patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure-hepatitis B virus(ACLF-HBV) and without concurrent hepatitis C or D virus infection and hepatocellular carcinoma into two groups according to their outcomes after anti-HBV *** demographic,clinical,and biochemical data on the day of diagnosis and after the first week of treatment were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test,Fisher's exact test,and a multiple logistic regression ***:The study included 113 patients(87 men and 26 women) with a mean age of 49.84 *** patients survived,and 61 patients *** failure(85.2%),sepsis(34.4%),and multiple organ failure(39.3%) were the main causes of *** analyses showed that Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation(APACHE) Ⅱ scores ≥ 12 [odds ratio(OR) = 7.160,95% CI:2.834-18.092,P < 0.001] and positive blood culture(OR = 13.520,95% CI:2.740-66.721,P = 0.001) on the day of diagnosis and model for end-stage liver disease(MELD) scores ≥ 28(OR = 8.182,95% CI:1.884-35.527,P = 0.005) after the first week of treatment were independent predictors of ***:APACHE Ⅱ scores on the day of diagnosis and MELD scores after the first week of anti-HBV therapy are feasible predictors of outcome in ACLFHBV patients.

Hot cracking susceptibility of fillers 52 and 82 in 800H and 825 nickel-base superalloys was discussed using the Spot Varestraint *** fillers of 52 and 82 were added into nickel-base superalloys via a gas tungsten arc welding(GTAW).Experimental results showed that the hot cracking sensitivity of the nickel-base superalloys with filler at high temperature was lower than that without *** hot cracking sensitivity had a slight effect when the filler 82 was *** total length of crack was increased,the liquid-solid(L-S)two-phase range is higher so that the hot cracking susceptibility will be *** morphologies of cracks included the intergranular crack in the molten pool,molten pool of solidification cracking,heat-affected zone of intergranular cracks,and transgranular crack in the heat-affected zone.

Electromagnetophoresis of a Colloidal Sphere in a Spherical Cavity

The quasi-steady electromagnetophoretic motion of a spherical colloidal particle positioned at the center of a spherical cavity filled with a conducting fluid is analyzed at low Reynolds number. Under uniformly applied electric and magnetic fields, the electric current and magnetic flux density distributions are solved for the particle and fluid phases of arbitrary electric conductivities and magnetic permeabilities. Applying a generalized reciprocal theorem to the Stokes equations modified with the resulted Lorentz force density and considering the contribution of the magnetic Maxwell stress to the force exerted on the particle, which turns out to be important, we obtain a closed-form formula for the migration velocity of the particle valid for an arbitrary value of the particle-to-cavity radius ratio. The particle velocity in general decreases monotonically with an increase in this radius ratio, with an exception for the case of a particle with high electric conductivity and low magnetic permeability relative to the suspending fluid. The asymptotic behaviors of the boundary effect on the electromagnetophoretic force and mobility of the confined particle at small and large radius ratios are discussed.

Droplet microfluidic technology is becoming increasingly useful for high-throughput and high-sensitivity detection of biological and biochemical *** current droplet devices function by passively discretizing a single sample subject to a homogeneous or random reagent/reaction condition into tens of thousands of picoliter-volume droplets for *** their apparent advantages in speed and throughput,these droplet devices inherently lack the capability to customize the contents of droplets in order to test a single sample against multiple reagent conditions or multiple samples against multiple *** order to incorporate such combinatorial capability into droplet platforms,we have developed the fully Integrated Programmable Picodroplet *** platform is capable of generating customized picoliter-volume droplet groups from nanoliter-volume plugs which are assembled in situ on *** employing a combination of microvalves and flow-focusing-based discretization,our platform can be used to precisely control the content and volume of generated nanoliter-volume plugs,and thereafter the content and the effective dynamic range of picoliter-volume ***,we can use a single integrated device for continuously generating,incubating,and detecting multiple distinct droplet *** device successfully marries the precise control and on-demand capability of microvalve-based platforms with the sensitivity and throughput of picoliter droplet platforms in a fully automated monolithic *** device ultimately will find important applications in single-cell and single-molecule analyses.

In wearable electronics,significant research has gone into imparting stretchability and flexibility to otherwise rigid electronic components while maintaining their electrical *** far,this has been achieved through various geometric modifications of the rigid conductive components themselves,such as with microcracked,buckled,or planar meander ***,strategic placement of these resulting components within the overall devices,such as embedding them at the neutral plane,has been found to further enhance mechanical stability under ***,these strategies are still limited in performance,failing to achieve fully strain-insensitive electrical performance under biaxial stretching,twisting,and mixed strain ***,we developed a new platform for wearable,motion artifact-free sensors using a graphene-based multiaxially stretchable kirigami-patterned mesh *** normalized resistance change of the electrodes and graphene embedded in the structure is smaller than 0.5%and 0.23%under 180°torsion and 100%biaxial strain,***,the resistance change is limited to 5%under repeated stretching-releasing cycles from 0%to 100%biaxial *** addition,we investigated the deformation mechanisms of the structure with finite element *** on the simulation results,we derived a dimensionless geometric parameter that enables prediction of stretchability of the structure with high ***,as a proof-of-concept,we demonstrated a biaxially-stretchable graphene-based sensor array capable of monitoring of temperature and glucose level with minimized motion-artifacts.
