The detrimental“shuttle effect”of lithium polysulfides(LiPSs)together with sluggish multi-order reaction kinetics are the main drawbacks hindering lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries from commercial ***,we first propose the implementability of layered rare-earth hydroxides(LREHs)in Li-S batteries to optimize electrochemical *** this work,a two-dimensional(2D)rare-earth-based composite constructed by the layered gadolinium hydroxy chloride[Gd_(2)(OH)_(5)(H_(2)O)_(n)]Cl nanoplates(LGdH NPs)and graphene oxide(GO)was designed as a sulfur immobilizer for Li-S *** the experimental results and density functional theory(DFT)calculations,it is revealed that the LGdH@GO composite not only provides a strong anchoring of the intermediates during cycling,but also acts as an effective catalyst to accelerate the liquid-solid conversion of *** Li-S batteries assembled by LGdH@GO modified separators delivered a superior rate performance with a specific capacity of 605.34 mAh/g at 5 C,as well as excellent cycle stability with a decay rate of 0.087%over 500 cycles at 2 *** study provided a deep understanding of the mechanism to suppress the“shuttle effect”by the LREHs,and a guide to design effective functional interlayers for high-performance Li-S batteries with excellent electrocatalytic activity.

The Wnt signaling pathway plays a critical role in bone homeostasis,and the related protein therapy strategies have been reported to have great potential in osseointegration;however,they face formidable challenges such as complex external environments and unavoidable protein *** this work,we report a novel approach combining the synthesis of metal–organic frameworks(MOFs)and protein encapsulation in a one-pot process based on zeolitic imidazolate framework-8(ZIF-8)and Wnt3a protein,with improved biomechanical behavior and enhanced protein biological *** combination was designed to enhance the Wnt3a protein function through the improved chemical stability provided by the ZIF-8 ***,the zinc ions contained in the ZIF-8 crystals induced bone homeostasis,further favoring the *** results showed that the Wnt3a protein-loaded ZIF-8 crystals served as efficient drug delivery vehicles to promote osteogenesis,preventing protein *** particular,Wnt3a-loaded ZIF-8 nanoparticles(Wnt3a@ZIF-8 NPs)had higher efficacy on bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs)than ZIF-8 NPs or Wnt3a proteins,contributing to the osteogenesis through ZIF-8 crystals and intracellular Wnt3a proteins released from Wnt3a@ZIF-8 ***,polymerase chain reaction(PCR)analysis showed that the osteogenic pathways were ***,the present one-pot process can open up new avenues to develop signaling protein-delivery systems for applications in protein therapy strategies.

Efficient and stable PtFe alloy catalyst for electrocatalytic methanol oxidation with high resistance to CO

Direct methanol fuel cells(DMFC) are widely considered to be an ideal green energy conversion device but their widespread applications are limited by the high price of the Pt-based catalysts and the instability in terms of surface CO toxicity in long-term ***,the PtFe alloy nanoparticles(NPs) with small particle size(~4.12 nm) supported on carbon black catalysts with different Pt/Fe atomic ratios(Pt_(1)Fe_(2)/C,Pt_(3)Fe_(4)/C,Pt_(1)Fe_(1)/C,and Pt_(2)Fe_(1)/C) are successfully prepared for enhanced anti-CO poisoning during methanol oxidation reaction(MOR).The optimal atomic ratio of Pt/Fe for the MOR is 1:2,and the mass activity of Pt_(1)Fe_(2)/C(5.40 A mg_(Pt)^(-1)) is 13.5 times higher than that of conventional commercial Pt/C(Pt/C-JM)(0.40 A mg_(Pt)^(-1)).The introduction of Fe into the Pt lattice forms the PtFe alloy phase,and the electron density of Pt is reduced after forming the PtFe ***-situ Fourier transform infrared results indicate that the addition of oxyphilic metal Fe has reduced the adsorption of reactant molecules on Pt during the *** doping of Fe atoms helps to desorb toxic intermediates and regenerate Pt active sites,promoting the cleavage of C-O bonds with good selectivity of CO_(2)(58.1%).Moreover,the Pt_(1)Fe_(2)/C catalyst exhibits higher CO tolerance,methanol electrooxidation activity,and long-term stability than other Pt_(x)Fe_(y)/C catalysts.

Unraveling the mechanism of potassium metal capacitor for highly efficient charge storage

Although hybrid metal ion capacitors(MICs) are highly desired to achieve both high power density of supercapacitors and high energy density of rechargeable batteries, the mismatch problem of electrochemical kinetics of negative and positive electrodes in MICs hampers the realization of this goal. Here, a new hybrid capacitor concept-potassium metal capacitor(PMC) is proposed for the first time, where potassium metal and commercial activated carbon(AC) without any modification are applied as negative and positive electrodes, respectively, and the electrolyte is the same as that of non-aqueous potassium ion batteries. The simplest PMC prototype exhibits a good combination of high energy density(184.9 Wh kg^(-1)) and power density(12.4 kW kg^(-1)), which benefits from the synergistic effect of potassium metal and AC electrode. The former experiences fast potassium plating/striping during charging and discharging, and the later possesses complex multiple charge behaviors driven by low potential of potassium metal. Specifically, below open-circuit voltage, transportation of solvated cations in AC pores plays an important role;beyond this voltage, synergy actions of cations and anions, including adsorption/desorption of solvated cations and anions, and ions exchange between them, dominate the capacitance contribution. This work enriches the types of MICs, and deepens the understanding of the energy storage mechanism of non-aqueous hybrid metal capacitors.

Reliability-BasedModel for Incomplete Preventive ReplacementMaintenance of Photovoltaic Power Systems

At present,the operation and maintenance of photovoltaic power generation systems mainly comprise regular maintenance,breakdown maintenance,and condition-based maintenance,which is very likely to lead to over-or under-repair of ***,a preventive maintenance and replacement strategy for PV power generation systems based on reliability as a constraint is ***,a hybrid failure function with a decreasing service age factor and an increasing failure rate factor is introduced to describe the deterioration of PV power generation equipment,and the equipment is replaced when its reliability drops to the replacement threshold in the last ***,based on the reliability as a constraint,the average maintenance cost and availability of the equipment are considered,and the non-periodic incomplete maintenance model of the PV power generation system is established to obtain the optimal number of repairs,each maintenance cycle and the replacement cycle of the PV power generation system ***,the inverter of a PV power plant is used as a research *** model in this paper is compared and analyzed with the equal cycle maintenance model without considering reliability and the maintenance model without considering the equipment replacement threshold,Through model comparison,when the optimal maintenance strategy is(0.80,4),the average maintenance cost of this paper’s model are decreased by 20.3%and 5.54%and the availability is increased by 0.2395% and 0.0337%,respectively,compared with the equal-cycle maintenance model without considering the reliability constraint and the maintenance model without considering the equipment replacement ***,this maintenance model can ensure the high reliability of PV plant operation while increasing the equipment availability to improve the system economy.

A Stable Copper-based Metal-Azolate Framework for Efficient Electroreduction of CO_(2)to C_(2+)Products

Driven by renewable or excess electrical energy,electrochemical CO_(2)reduction reaction(eCO_(2)RR)represents a promising carbon-neutral approach to generating valuable low-carbon fuels by consuming CO_(2)and H_(2)O.C_(2+)products are one of the most economically valuable products among the reduction species of eCO_(2)RR,but there are still some challenges,such as low selectivity or low current *** this work,we showed that a copper-based metal-azolate framework(MAF),denoted as MAF-203,exhibits the high performance of eCO_(2)RR to yield C_(2+)products with the Faradaic efficiency(C_(2+))of 52.5%and a current density of 660 mA/cm^(2)at-1.2 V *** in a flow cell device under alkaline *** experiment,in situ infrared spectroscopy and the density functional theory(DFT)calculations showed that the electron donating effect of methyl substituents on organic ligands of the copper-based MAF could enhance the ligand field and activation of key intermediates(*CO and*CHO species),thus promoting the coupling of*CO and*CHO for yielding C_(2+)products.

Background:Information on the association between physical activity(PA)and the risk of chronic kidney disease(CKD)is *** aimed to explore the associations of total,domain-specific,and intensity-specific PA with CKD and its subtypes in ***:The study included 475,376 adults from the China Kadoorie Biobank aged 30-79 years during 2004-2008 at *** interviewer-administered questionnaire was used to collect the information about PA,which was quantified as metabolic equivalent of task hours per day(MET-h/day)and categorized into 4 groups based on *** regression was used to analyze the association between PA and CKD ***:During a median follow-up of 12.1 years,5415 incident CKD cases were documented,including 1159 incident diabetic kidney disease(DKD)cases and 362 incident hypertensive nephropathy(HTN)*** PA was inversely associated with CKD risk,with an adjusted hazard ratio(HR,95%confidence interval(95%CI))of 0.83(0.75-0.92)for incident CKD in the highest quartile of total PA as compared with participants in the lowest *** results were observed for risk of DKD and HTN,and the corresponding HRs(95%CIs)were 0.75(0.58-0.97)for DKD risk and 0.56(0.37-0.85)for HTN *** nonoccupational PA,low-intensity PA,and moderate-to-vigorous-intensity PA were significantly associated with a decreased risk of CKD,with HRs(95%CIs)of 0.80(0.73-0.88),0.85(0.77-0.94),and 0.85(0.76-0.95)in the highest quartile,***:PA,including nonoccupational PA,low-intensity PA,and moderate-to-vigorous-intensity PA,was inversely associated with the risk of CKD,including DKD,HTN,and other CKD,and such associations were dose dependent.

Predicting Credit Bond Default with Deep Learning: Evidence from China

China’s credit bond market has rapidly expanded in recent ***,since 2014,the number of credit bond defaults has been increasing rapidly,posing enormous potential risks to the stability of the financial *** study proposed a deep learning approach to predict credit bond defaults in the Chinese market.A convolutional neural network(CNN)was selected as the classification model and to reduce the extreme imbalance between defaulted and non-defaulted bonds,and a generative adversarial network(GAN)was used as the oversampling *** on 31 financial and 20 non-financial indicators,we collected Wind data on all credit bonds issued and matured or defaulted from 2014 to *** experimental results showed that our GAN+CNN approach had superior predictive performance with an area under the curve(AUC)of 0.9157 and precision of 0.8871 compared to previous research and other commonly used classification models-including the logistic regression,support vector machine,and fully connected neural network models-and oversampling techniques-including the synthetic minority oversampling technique(SMOTE)and Borderline SMOTE *** one-year predictions,indicators of solvency,capital structure,and fundamental properties of bonds are proved to be the most important indicators.
