Background:Despite the availability of chemotherapy drugs such as 5-ﬂuorouracil(5-FU),the treatment of some cancers such as gastric cancer remains challenging due to drug resistance and side *** study aimed to investigate the effect of celastrol in combination with the chemotherapy drug 5-FU on proliferation and induction of apoptosis in human gastric cancer cell lines(AGS and EPG85-257).Materials and Methods:In this in vitro study,AGS and EPG85-257 cells were treated with different concentrations of celastrol,5-FU,and their *** proliferation was assessed using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide(MTT)*** synergistic effect of 5-FU and celastrol was studied using Compusyn *** DNA content at different phases of the cell cycle and apoptosis rate was measured usingﬂow ***:Co-treatment with low concentrations(10%inhibitory concentration(IC10))of celastrol and 5-FU signiﬁcantly reduced IC50(p<0.05)so that 48 h after treatment,IC50 was calculated at 3.77 and 6.9μM for celastrol,20.7 and 11.6μM for 5-FU,and 5.03 and 4.57μM for their combination for AGS and EPG85-257 cells,*** mean percentage of apoptosis for AGS cells treated with celastrol,5-FU,and their combination was obtained 23.9,41.2,and 61.9,and for EPG85-257 cells 5.65,46.9,and 55.7,*** addition,the 5-FU and celastrol-5-FU combination induced cell cycle arrest in the synthesis ***:Although celastrol could decrease the concentration of 5-ﬂuorouracil that sufﬁced to suppress gastric cancer cells,additional studies are required to arrive at conclusive evidence on the anticancer effects of celastrol.

Modeling dynamic systems with linear parametric models usually suffer limitation which affects forecasting performance and policy implications. This paper advances a non-parametric autoregressive distributed lag model that employs a Bayesian additive regression tree (BART). The performance of the BART model is compared with selection models like Lasso, Elastic Net, and Bayesian networks in simulation experiments with linear and non-linear data generating processes (DGP), and on US macroeconomic time series data. The results show that the BART model is quite competitive against the linear parametric methods when the DGP is linear, and outperforms the competing methods when the DGP is non-linear. The empirical results suggest that the BART estimators are generally more efficient than the traditional linear methods when modeling and forecasting macroeconomic time series.

Inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD) are chronic idiopathic inflammatory conditions characterized by relapsing and remitting episodes of inflammation which can affect several different regions of the gastrointestinal tract, but also shows extra-intestinal manifestations. IBD is most frequently diagnosed during peak female reproductive years, with 25% of women with IBD conceiving after their diagnosis. While IBD therapy has improved dramatically with enhanced surveillance and more abundant and powerful treatment options, IBD disease can have important effects on pregnancy and presents several challenges for maintaining optimal outcomes for mothers with IBD and the developing fetus/neonate. Women with IBD, the medical team treating them(both gastroenterologists and obstetricians/gynecologists) must often make highly complicated choices regarding conception, pregnancy, and post-natal care(particularly breastfeeding) related to their choice of treatment options at different phases of pregnancy as well as post-partum. This current review discusses current concerns and recommendations for pregnancy duringIBD and is intended for gastroenterologists, general practitioners and IBD patients intending to become,(or already) pregnant, and their families. We have addressed patterns of IBD inheritance, effects of IBD on fertility and conception(in both men and women), the effects of IBD disease activity on maintenance of pregnancy and outcomes, risks of diagnostic procedures during pregnancy and potential risks and complications associated with different classes of IBD therapeutics. We also have evaluated the clinical experience using "top-down" care with biologics, which is currently the standard care at our institution. Post-partum care and breastfeeding recommendations are also addressed.

We investigate the effect of dopant random fluctuation on threshold voltage and drain current variation in a two-gate nanoscale transistor. We used a quantum-corrected technology computer aided design simulation to run the simulation （10000 randomizations）. With this simulation, we could study the effects of varying the dimensions （length and width）, and thicknesses of oxide and dopant factors of a transistor on the threshold voltage and drain current in subthreshold region （off） and overthreshold （on）. It was found that in the subthreshold region the variability of the drain current and threshold voltage is relatively fixed while in the overthreshold region the variability of the threshold voltage and drain current decreases remarkably, despite the slight reduction of gate voltage diffusion （compared with that of the subthreshold）. These results have been interpreted by using previously reported models for threshold current variability, load displacement, and simple analytical calculations. Scaling analysis shows that the variability of the characteristics of this semiconductor increases as the effects of the short channel increases. Therefore, with a slight increase of length and a reduction of width, oxide thickness, and dopant factor, we could correct the effect of the short channel.

FeVO4/CeO2 was applied in the electro-Fenton(EF)degradation of Methyl Orange(MO)as a model of wastewater *** results of the characterization techniques indicate that FeVO4 with triclinic structure and face-centered cubic fluorite CeO2 maintained their structures during the nanocomposite *** effect of applied current intensity,initial pollutant concentration,initial pH,and catalyst weight was *** MO removal reached 96.31%and chemical oxygen demand(COD)removal 70%for 60 min of the *** presence of CeO2 in the nanocomposite plays a key role in H2O2 electro-generation as a significant factor in the electro-Fenton(EF)*** metal leaching from FeVO4/CeO2 was negligible(cerium 4.1%,iron 4.3%,and vanadium 1.7%),which indicates that the active species in the nanocomposite are strongly interacting with each other and are *** performance of the nanocatalyst in real wastewaters,salty,and binary systems was acceptable and the pollutions were removed *** synergistic effect between V,Fe,and Ce could be account as the reason for the respectable function of FeVO4/*** electron transfer proceeds via Haber-Weiss mechanism.A degradation pathway was proposed through by-products analysis using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC–MS)*** pseudo-first-order kinetic model described the obtained experimental results(R2=0.9906).The electro-Fenton system efficiency was improved by adding *** nanocomposite preserved almost its efficiency after six *** obtained results demonstrate that the synergistic catalyst(FeVO4/CeO2)has the capability to introduce as a promising replacement of conventional catalysts in the electro-Fenton processes with brilliant proficiency.

Extracting a seizure intensity index from one-channel EEG signal using bispectral and detrended fluctuation analysis

Epilepsy is a medical condition that produces seizures affecting a variety of mental and physical functions. Seizures can last from a few seconds to a few minutes. They can have many symptoms, from convulsions and loss of consciousness to blank staring, lip smacking, or jerking movements of arms and legs. If early warning signals of an upcoming seizure (diagnosis of preictal period) are detected, proper treatment can be applied to the patient to help prevent the seizure. In this research, an epileptic disorder has been divided into three subsets: Normal, Preictal (just before the seizure), and Ictal (during seizure). By using Detrended Fluctuation Analysis (DFA), Bispectral Analysis (BIS), and Standard Deviation (SD) three features from single-channel EEG signals have been derived in the foresaid groups. A fuzzy classifier is used to separate the three groups which can successfully separate them with a separation degree of 100% and further a fuzzy inference engine is used to extract a Seizure Intensity Index (SII) from the Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals of the three different states. One can apparently see the distinction of SII amounts between the three states. It is more important when one remembers that these results are just from single-channel EEG signal.

To enable the lithostratigraphic and biostratigraphie study of the Gurpi Formation, within the ＇Dezak＇ or Globigerina Marl, a stratigraphic section at Booraki, located to the NNW of Shiraz, SW Iran, through the late Cretaceous was examined. The formation consists of shale and greenish-gray marls interbedded with cream limestone, brown sandstones and siltstones with an exposed thickness of 160 m in the studied section. Samples were taken at regular intervals in all yielding 14 genera and 16 different species of benthic and planktic foraminifera that allowed determination of the age of the beds as Maastrichtian. To examine the paleoecology of the formation, some important ecological factors including water level, salinity, and oxygen regime change during the depositional courses of the formation were analyzed. The density of foraminiferans decreases from the base to top of the Gurpi Formation whereas the ratio of planktic to benthic Foraminifera （i.e., P/B） and proportion of shallow-water fauna increase. These foraminiferal changes indicate an increase and decrease in depth, temperature, salinity and oxygen, respectively, at the base and top of the Formation.

Deciphering important genes and pathways from incomplete gene expression data could facilitate a better understanding of cancer. Different imputation methods can be applied to estimate the missing values. In our study, we evaluated various imputation methods for their performance in preserving significant genes and pathways. In the first step, 5% genes are considered in random for two types of ignorable and non-ignorable missingness mechanisms with various missing rates. Next, 10 well-known imputation methods were applied to the complete datasets. The significance analysis of microarrays （SAM） method was applied to detect the significant genes in rectal and lung cancers to showcase the utility of imputation approaches in preserving significant genes. To determine the impact of different imputation methods on the identification of important genes, the chi-squared test was used to compare the proportions of overlaps between significant genes detected from original data and those detected from the imputed datasets. Additionally, the significant genes are tested for their enrichment in important pathways, using the ConsensusPathDB. Our results showed that almost all the significant genes and pathways of the original dataset can be detected in all imputed datasets, indicating that there is no significant difference in the performance of various imputation methods tested.
