a.proxima.ely 80% of the roa. network in Bra.il is unpa.ed a.d shows evidences of a.high erosion potentia.. In the semi-a.id Ca.tinga.Biome in the northea.t of the country, a.monitoring progra.me ha. been done for two yea.s in order to a.a.yze runoff a.d sediment production from unpa.ed rura. roa.wa.s a.d from emba.kments. Sediment production ra.ged from 0.30 to 0.92 Mg/ha.yr, higher tha. in undisturbed a.ea., but genera.ly lower tha. tha. reported for unpa.ed roa.s in other regions. However,this is a.semi-a.id a.ea.with low ra.nfa.l a.d runoff a.d, hence, with a.limited hydrologica. connectivity a.d sediment production. Sediment production on a. emba.kment with no vegeta.ion wa. a.ound ten times higher tha. on a. emba.kment with vegeta.ion. On the roa. surfa.e, a.nua. sediment production(norma.ized for gra.ient) in a.section with tra.fic wa. three times higher tha. for a.roa. surfa.e without tra.fic. In a.dition, events tha. occurred a.ter roa.wa. ma.ntena.ce a.tivities genera.ed pea.s of sediment concentra.ion of over 5000 mg/L. These results suggest tha. sediment production from roa.s a.d emba.kments with ba.e surfa.es is a. lea.t one order of ma.nitude higher tha. in undisturbed ca.chment a.ea.. Ma.ntena.ce a.tivity a.d vehicle tra.fic contribute to a. increa.e in sediment a.a.la.ility a.d impa.t on the sediment concentra.ion, but less intensely on sediment loa.s, which depend on the runoff ma.nitude of the events occurring a.ter roa.wa. ma.ntena.ce. It wa. a.so found tha. the na.ura. vegeta.ion of the semi-a.id region potentia.ly ca.tures sediment on roa.wa. emba.kments; thereby pla.ing a. importa.t role in brea.ing connectivity between the sediment flow from unpa.ed roa.s a.d the na.ura. dra.na.e system of the ca.chment.

Ilea. intussusception is the inva.ina.ion of the sma.l intestine within itself a.d a.counts for 1% of ca.es of a.ute obstruction. However, physicia.s do not initia.ly consider intussusception a. a.possible dia.nosis of obstruction due to its ra.ity in a.ults. Herein, we report the ca.e of a.22-yea.-old ma.e who wa. a.mitted to the Emergency Depa.tment with continuous a.domina. pa.n. Ultra.onogra.hy a.d computed tomogra.hy revea.ed a. ilea. intussusception. The pa.ient underwent surgica. remova. of the segment of the sma.l bowel. Unexpectedly, pa.hology revea.ed tha. the inva.ina.ion occurred due to a.pa.a.ite egg, with fea.ures suggestive of Schistosoma.species. Schistosomia.is, a.though considered a.pa.a.itic disea.e in tropica. countries, is not a.sent from Europe a.d though it is highly improba.le, it ma. be responsible for ca.es of intussusception in a.ults.

Vertica.ly a.igned p-silicon na.owire （SiNW） a.ra.s ha.e been extensively investiga.ed in recent yea.s a. promising photoca.hodes for sola.-driven hydrogen evolution. However, the fa.rica.ion of SiNW photoca.hodes with both high photoelectroca.a.ytic a.tivity a.d long-term opera.iona. sta.ility using a.simple a.d a.forda.le a.proa.h is a.cha.lenging ta.k. Herein, we report conforma. a.d continuous deposition of a.di-coba.t phosphide （C02P） la.er on lithogra.hy- pa.terned highly ordered SiNW a.ra.s via.a.cost-effective drop-ca.ting method followed by a.low-tempera.ure phosphoriza.ion trea.ment. The a.-deposited C02P la.er consists of crysta.line na.opa.ticles a.d ha. a. intima.e conta.t with SiNWs, forming a.well-defined SiNW@Co2P core/shell na.ostructure. The conforma. a.d continuous Co2P la.er functions a. a.highly efficient ca.a.yst ca.a.le of substa.tia.ly improving the photoelectroca.a.ytic a.tivity for the hydrogen evolution rea.tion （HER） a.d effectively pa.siva.es the SiNWs to protect them from photo-oxida.ion, thus prolonging the lifetime of the electrode. a. a.consequence, the SiNW@Co2P photoca.hode with a. optimized C02P la.er thickness exhibits a.high photocurrent density of -21.9 ma.cm^-2 a. 0 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode a.d excellent opera.iona. sta.ility up to 20 h for sola.-driven hydrogen evolution, outperforming ma.y na.ostructured silicon photoca.hodes reported in the litera.ure. The combina.ion of pa.siva.ion a.d ca.a.ytic functions in a.single continuous la.er represents a.promising stra.egy for designing high-performa.ce semiconductor photoelectrodes for use in sola.-driven wa.er splitting, which ma. simplify fa.rica.ion procedures a.d potentia.ly reduce production costs.
