Background: schizophrenia is a severe psychiatric disorder with a complex genetic factor determining its disease onset. Nevertheless, it is not clear in this mental disorder. Objective: To conduct a systematic review of articles regarding the genetic markers and mutations in schizophrenia. Methods: A systematic review of articles on genetic markers and mutations in schizophrenia, published from January 1, 2011, to september 7, 2015, on sCOPUs database was carried out. search terms were “Genetic markers”, “Mutation”, and “schizophrenia”. Results: Of the 527 retrieved studies, 31 met the eligibility criteria. Genetic polymorphism, Immune-associated genes, TCF4 and ZNF804A association with microRNA, Neuregulin gene, Chromosome 13q32 and 11p15.4, genes involved in glutamatergic via schizophrenia and brain structure, appeared to be associated with the origin of schizophrenia. Conclusion: some studies show genes involved in several pathways leading to the disease pathogenesis such as that one related with the dopaminergic and immune system, or rare alleles. some genes present no involvement in the etiology of this mental disorder. These findings clarify the genetic complexity of schizophrenia and affirm that together, the genes have an overall effect greater than the sum of the individual effect of each gene.

Circulating insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 3 as prognostic biomarker in liver cirrhosis

AIM: To investigate the prognostic significance of insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 3(IGFBP-3) in patients with ***: Prospective study that included two cohorts: outpatients with stable cirrhosis(n = 138) and patients hospitalized for acute decompensation(n = 189). Development of complications, mortality or liver transplantation was assessed by periodical phone calls and during outpatient visits. The cohort of stable cirrhosis also underwent clinical and laboratory evaluation yearly(2013 and 2014) in predefined study visits. In patients with stable cirrhosis, IGFBP-3 levels were measured at baseline(2012) and at second re-evaluation(2014). In hospitalized subjects, IGFBP-3 levels were measured in serum samples collected in the first and in the third day after admission and stored at-80 ℃. IGFBP-3 levels were measured by ***: IGFBP-3 levels were lower in hospitalized patients as compared to outpatients(0.94 mcg/mL vs 1.69 mcg/m L, P sed after liver transplantation(3.81 mcg/m L vs 1.33 mcg/mL, P = 0.008). During the follow-up of the stable cohort, 17 patients died and 11 received liver transplantation. Bivariate analysis showed that death or transplant was associated with lower IGFBP-3 levels(1.44 mcg/mL vs 1.74 mcg/m L, P = 0.027). The Kaplan-Meier transplant-free survival probability was 88.6% in patients with IGFBP-3 ≥ 1.67 mcg/mL and 72.1% for those with IGFBP3 spitalized cohort, 30-d mortality was 24.3% and was independently associated with creatinine, INR, spO_2/FiO_2 ratio and IGFBP-3 levels in the logistic regression. The 90-d transplant-free survival probability was 80.4% in patients with IGFBP-3 ≥ 0.86 mcg/mL and 56.1% for those with IGFBP3 sION: Lower IGFBP-3 levels were associated with worse outcomes in patients with cirrhosis, and might represent a promising prognostic tool that can be incorporated in clinical practice.

This study consists in the investigation of the application of ornamental rock tailings applied in remineralization in the Brazilian soil through the rocking *** to the Brazilian dependence on the importation of agricultural inputs,the use of the method aims beyond improving the physical and chemical properties of the soil,supplying the demand for such data,and in return to give an adequate end to pollutant *** tailings have chemical characteristics that are of great importance for soil *** methodology employed was divided into three stages,the first one was the physicochemical characterization of the rock dust,followed by the characterization of the soil experimented and the cultivation of the plant species Phaseolus *** results obtained so far showed favorable results since the characteristics obtained through the physicochemical analyses were compatible with those suitable for the soil,after the application of the powder,which had its high pH and which proved that the tailings corrected the soil acidity of the sample in question,placing it at an ideal level for the cultivation of new species.

Ergonovine stress echocardiography: Recent experience and safety in our centre

AIM:To study recent experience and safety of ergonovine stress echocardiography in our ***:In this study we collected the clinical variables of patients referred since 2002 for ergonovine stress echocardiography,in addition to indications,the results of this test,complications,blood pressure and heart rate values during the test and the number and results of tests requested before this ***:We performed 40 tests in 38 patients,2 tests were carried out to verify therapy *** prevalence of classic cardiovascular risk factors was low and the most frequent indication was chest pain (57.5%).Coronary angiography was performed in 32 patients,and showed normal coronary arteries in 27 patients and non-significant stenosis in 5 *** 16 patients,coronary angiography was carried out after a positive or inconclusive ischemia *** 6 patients had a normal stress test(5 exercise electrocardiography tests and 1 nuclear imaging test).Of the 40 ergonovine stress echocardiography tests,6 were positive(4 in the right coronary artery territory and 2 in the circumflex coronary artery territory),all of them by echocardiographic criteria,and by electrocardiographic criteria in only 3(50%).The presence of non-significant coronary artery stenosis was more frequent in patients with positive ergonovine stress echocardiography(50%vs 6%,P =0.038),and were related to ischemic *** the maximum stress stage,there was a higher systolic(130.26±19.17 mmHg vs 136.58±27.27 mmHg,95%CI:-12.77 to 0.14 mmHg,P=0.055)and diastolic blood pressure(77.89±13.49 mmHg vs 83.95± 15.73 mmHg,95%CI:-10.41 to-1.69 mmHg,P=0.008) than at the baseline stage,and the same was registered with heart rate(73±10.96 beats/minvs 79.79± 11.72 beats/min,95%CI:-9.46 to-4.11 beats/min,P ss,there were only 2 hypertensive reactions during the last stage,which did not force a premature end to the test,without sustained tachy or bradyarrhythmias,and the technique was

Neglected tropical diseases are a group of tropical diseases endemic in poor countries even though medical treatment and cures are available. They are considered a global health problem due to the severity of the physiological changes they induce in their hosts. Malaria is a disease caused by Plasmodium sp. that in its cerebral form may lead to acute or long-term neurological deficits, even with effective antimalarial therapy, causing vascular obstruction, reduced cerebral blood flow and many other changes. However, Plasmodium falciparum infection can also develop into a cerebral malaria(CM) disease that can produce neurological damage. This review will discuss the mechanisms involved in the neuropathology caused by CM, focusing on alterations in cognitive, behavior and neurological functions in human and experimental models.

In consideration of the poor results obtained with conventional treatments, a review of alternative treatments for elderly patients with glioblastoma was researched in this study. The proposal considers the elimination of human cytomegalovirus, modifying the immune response, arresting growths, blocking some signaling pathways, and modulating the effects of oxygen reactive species.

Aorto-right atrial fistula: Late complication of tricuspid valve infective endocarditis

Abnormal connections between the ascending aortaand the cardiac chambers are rare, especially in thecontext of right-sided infective endocarditis(IE). Trans-thoracic echocardiography(TTE) with color-flow Dop-pler, transesophageal echocardiography(TEE), or bothmay be required for diagnosis. We present the case ofa woman admitted with right-sided heart failure(HF)symptoms. she had a previous history of tricuspid valveIE 30 years ago. TTE and TEE revealed an aorto-rightatrium fistula located just under the non-coronary cuspinto the right atrium at the level of the previously af-fected tricuspid valve. The Patient refused surgery andwas discharged home on HF medications. she has beenstable for the last 3 years. The peculiarity of this caseis the late symptomatic presentation of the aorto-atrialfistula and the unusual association to tricuspid valve IE.

The residues generated by big industries are directly and gradually impacting the environment,and some of these have not been fully tapped in a proper ***,some researches and studies about minimalizing the residue’s disposal become *** biodiesel industries have been producing increasingly glycerin as the main *** on that,it is considered as a good option of the reutilization of this material,for example,the merging at the concrete’s *** this argument,the addition’s effects of glycerin were evaluated as well as the influence of its adding at the compressive *** proof-bodies were formulated according to the trace in proportion of 1:1:2(cement,sand and gravel,respectively)and 0.4 L of glycerin added at the final *** the bases of the survey results,it was verified that the proof-bodies without the addition of glycerin presented average mechanical resistance of 12.2±1.95 MPa after twenty eight(28)days of curing,and mechanical resistance of the proof-bodies with the addition achieved resistance of 26.2±1.62 MPa,suggesting influence on the hydration kinetics of the concrete.
