Background The identification of modifiable bleeding risk factors may be of *** aim is to evaluate if aortic stenosis(AS)provides additional information to bleeding risk scores for predicting major bleeding(MB)in non-valvular atrial fibrillation(AF).Methods We designed a retrospective multi-center study including 2880 consecutive non-valvular AF patients initiating oral anticoagulation between January 2013 and December *** was defined as moderate or severe according to European echocardiography guidelines ***,ATRIA and ORBIT scores were used to evaluate the bleeding *** was defined according to the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasia criteria and registered at 18 months of *** 168(5.8%)patients had *** with AS had higher risk for MB compared to those without AS(HR=2.13,95%CI:1.40-3.23,P<0.001).Patients without AS and low-intermediate bleeding risk(0 points)showed the lowest MB rate,whereas the MB rate observed among patients with AS and high bleeding risk(2 points)was the highest *** and reclassification analyses showed that AS provided additional information to bleeding risk scores for predicting MB at 18 months of *** In this population,AS was associated with an increased risk for MB at midterm *** three scoring systems showed a moderate discriminatory ability for ***,the addition of AS was associated with a significant improvement in their predictive *** suggest that the presence of this valvulopathy should be taken into account for bleeding risk assessment.

Touristic urbanization and greening of coastal dune fields:A long-term assessment of a temperate sandy barrier of Argentina

Dune barrier systems represent highly sought-after coastal landscapes for tourism and urban development around the world. However, a century ago, they were considered hazardous environments due to their great dynamic nature. As a result, stabilization practices were considered necessary. The systematic introduction of fast-growing exotic trees helped stabilize the sand, making it easier for tourism urbanization to take place, but also leading to erosion processes. This paper aims to assess long-term changes in vegetation cover over a large temperate barrier in Argentina. This complex region includes urban resorts, afforestation zones, and protected areas. A GIS-based geospatial analysis was conducted using a large satellite database(> 350 images), and the future evolution of the vegetation was modeled. The results revealed two primary spatiotemporal patterns associated with a gradual expansion of vegetation cover, accompanied by a concurrent reduction in sandy areas. In 1986, the dune area comprised 75% more surface than vegetation, whereas in 2021, it represented 60% less than vegetation. Furthermore, the 2050 scenario suggests a potential 40% reduction of dunes in certain areas. It is necessary to enhance management actions aimed at maintaining dune mobility and ensuring local and regional sediment balance. Long-term management strategies must focus on restoring native plant communities and controlling invasive species, and avoiding new dune fixation initiatives based on the introduction of exotic species.

CAPTURING COMPLEX,NON-LINEAR TEAM BEHAVIOURS DURING COMPETITIVE FOOTBALL PERFORMANCE

This study investigated changes in the complexity （magnitude and structure of variability） of the collective behaviours of association football teams during competitive performance. Raw positional data from an entire competitive match between two professional teams were obtained with the ProZone tracking system. Five compound positional variables were used to investigate the collective patterns of performance of each team including： surface and geometrical centre. Analyses involve the coefficient （ApEn）, as well as the linear association between both area, stretch index, team length, team width, of variation （%CV） and approximate entropy parameters. Collective measures successfully captured the idiosyncratic behaviours of each team and their variations across the six time periods of the match. Key events such as goals scored and game breaks （such as half time and full time） seemed to influence the collective patterns of performance. While ApEn values significantly decreased during each half, the %CV increased. Teams seem to become more regular and predictable, but with increased magnitudes of variation in their organisational shape over the natural course of a match.

Pharmaceutical applications of spouted beds: A review on solid dosage forms

Spouted beds (SBs) have a long history of successful applications for preparation of solid dosage forms of pharmaceuticals. The well-known versatility of SBs, provided by different design and operational factors, and their efficient mixing of solids allow for engineering of technological characteristics of pharmaceutical solid forms. Particle properties like morphology, size, porosity, flowability, and dissolution rate can be improved by managing geometric and operational conditions for spouting. Drying is probably the most disseminated operation for pharmaceutical processing in SBs, and many studies have investigated drying of medicinal plant extracts such as achiote (Bixa orellana sp.), guarana (Paullinia cupana sp.), passion flower (Passiflora alata D.), and rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) with excellent pharmacotechnical and stability results. Another important application is coating of tablets and gelatin capsules, and previous studies have shown that SBs and spout–fluid beds may be advantageous over traditional pan coating, especially for polymeric film coating. Recently, an alternative process for improving drug bioavailability has involved preparation of β-cyclodextrin inclusion complexes in SBs. The first study to propose SBs for this pharmaceutical application explored the advantage of obtaining solid forms of inclusion complexes in just one step, and obtained expressive increases in drug solubility. The technique has been applied in subsequent studies on inclusion complexes of the medication carvedilol and uxi (Endopleura uchi L.) extracts.

Multi-terminal DC grids: challenges and prospects

A few multi-terminal direct current(MTDC)systems are in operation around the world today. However,MTDC grids overlaying their AC counterpart might a reality in a near future. The main drivers for constructing such direct current grids are the large-scale integration of remote renewable energy resources into the existing alternative current(AC) grids, and the promotion and development of international energy markets through the socalled supergrids. This paper presents the most critical challenges and prospects for such emerging MTDC grids,along with a foreseeable technology development roadmap,with a particular focus on crucial control and operational issues that are associated with MTDC systems and grids.
