Background Nursery pigs undergo stre.sors in the post-weaning period that result in production and welfare *** challenges disproportionately impact the offspring of primiparous sows compared to those of mul-tiparous *** is known regarding potential interactions between parity and feed additives in the post-weaning period and their effects on nursery pig ***,the objective of this study was to investigate the effects of maternal parity on sow and offspring microbiomes and the influence of sow parity on pig fecal microbi-ome and performance in response to a prebiotic *** weaning,pigle.s were allotted into three treat-ment groups:a standard nursery diet including pharmacological doses of Zn and Cu(Con),a group fed a commercial prebiotic only(Preb)based on an Aspergillus oryzae fermentation extract,and a group fed the.same prebiotic plus Zn and Cu(Preb+ZnCu).Results Although there were no differences in vaginal microbiome composition between primiparous and mul-tiparous sows,fecal microbiome composition was different(R^(2)=0.02,P=0.03).The fecal microbiomes of primiparous offspring displayed significantly higher bacterial dive.sity compared to multiparous offspring at d 0 and d 21 post-weaning(Perences in community composition observed at d 21(R^(2)=0.03,P=0.04).When analyzing the effects of maternal parity within each treatment,only the Preb diet triggered significant microbiome distinc-tions between primiparous and multiparous offspring(d 21:R^(2)=0.13,P=0.01;d 42:R^(2)=0.19,P=0.001).Composi-tional differences in pig fecal microbiomes between treatments were observed only at d 21(R^(2)=0.12,P=0.001).Pigs in the Con group gained significantly more weight throughout the nursery period when compared to those in the Preb+ZnCu *** Nursery pig gut microbiome composition was influenced by supplementation with an Aspergillus oryzae fermentation extract,with varying effects on performance

Direct volume rendering(DVR)is a technique that emphasizes structures of interest(sOIs)within a volume visually,while.simultaneously depicting adjacent regional information,e.g.,the.spatial location of a structure concerning its *** DVR,transfer function(TF)plays a key role by enabling accurate identification of sOIs interactively as well as e.suring appropriate visibility of *** generation typically involves non-intuitive trial-and-error optimization of rendering paramete.s,which is time-consuming and *** at mitigating this manual proce.s have led to approaches that make use of a knowledge database consisting of pre-designed TFs by domain *** these approaches,a user navigates the knowledge database to find the most suitable pre-designed TF for their input volume to visualize the *** these approaches potentially reduce the workload to generate the TFs,they,however,require manual TF navigation of the knowledge database,as well as the likely fine tuning of the.selected TF to suit the *** this work,we propose a TF design approach,CBR-TF,where we introduce a new content-based retrieval(CBR)method to automatically navigate the knowledge *** of pre-designed TFs,our knowledge database contains volumes with sOI *** an input volume,our CBR-TF approach retrieves relevant volumes(with sOI labe.s)from the knowledge database;the retrieved labe.s are then used to generate and optimize TFs of the *** approach largely reduces manual TF navigation and fine *** our CBR-TF approach,we introduce a novel volumetric image feature which includes both a local primitive inte.sity profile along the.sOIs and regional spatial semantics available from the co-planar images to the *** the regional spatial semantics,we adopt a convolutional neural network to obtain high-level image feature *** the inte.sity profile,we extend the dynamic time warping technique to addre.s subtle alignment

The problem considered in this short note is the limit load determination of a vertical rock *** classical limit theorem is employed with the use of adaptive finite elements and nonlinear programming to determine upper and lower bound limit loads of a Hoek-Brown vertical rock *** objective function of the mathematical programming problem is such as to optimize a boundary load,which is known as the limit load,resembling the ultimate bearing capacity of a strip *** focusing on the vertical slope,parametric studies are carried out for several dime.sionle.s ratios such as the dime.sionle.s footing distance ratio,the dime.sionle.s height ratio,and the dime.sionle.s rock strength ratio.A comprehe.sive.set of design charts is presented,and failure envelopes shown with the results explained in terms of three identified failure mechanisms,*** face,the toe,and the Prandtl-type *** novel results can be used with great confidence in design practice,in particularly noting that the current industry-based design procedures for the presented problem are rarely found.

Multi-azimuth walkaway vertical se.smic profiling is an established technique for the estimation of in situ slowne.s surfaces and inferring anisotropy ***,this technique requires the assumption of lateral homogeneity,which makes the horizontal slowne.s components at depths of downhole receive.s equal to those me.sured at the *** violations of this assumption,such as lateral heterogeneity or nonzero dip of intermediate interfaces,lead to distortions in reconstructed slowne.s surfaces and,consequently,to errors in estimated anisotropic *** this work,we relax the assumption of lateral homogeneity and discuss how to correct vertical se.smic profile data for weak lateral *** describe a procedure of downward continuation of recorded traveltimes that accounts for the presence of both vertical inhomogeneity and weak lateral heterogeneity,which produces correct slowne.s surfaces at depths of downhole receive.s,noticing that sufficiently de.se receiver coverage along a borehole is required to separate influences of vertical and lateral heterogeneity on me.sured traveltimes and obtain accurate estimates of the.slowne.s *** the.slowne.s surfaces are found and a desired type of anisotropic model to be inverted is selected,the corresponding anisotropic paramete.s,providing the best fit to the estimated slowne.ses,can be *** invert the.slowne.s surfaces of P-waves for paramete.s of the.simplest anisotropic model describing dipping fractures(transve.sely isotropic medium with a tilted symmetry axis).Five paramete.s of this model,namely,the P-wave velocity V0 in the direction of the.symmetry axis,Thomsen's anisotropic coefficients e and d,the tilt n,and the azimuth b of the.symmetry axis,can be estimated in a stable manner when maximum source offset is greater than half of receiver depth.
