Climate-driven variations in productivity reveal adaptive strategies in Iberian cork oak agroforestry systems

Background:The aim of this review is to summarize the optical quality results in patients following the implantation of the V4c implantable collamer lens with a central port(ICl,STAAR Surgical Inc.).Main text:A literature search in several databases was carried out to identify those publications,both prospective,retrospective and/or comparative with other refractive surgery procedures,reporting optical outcomes of patients who were implanted with the V4c ICl model.A total of 17 clinical studies published between 2012 and 2021 were included in this review.A detailed analysis of the available data was performed including number of eyes,follow-up and preoperative spherical ***,the review focused on several optical parameters including higher-order aberrations(HOAs),modulation transfer function(MTF)cut-off frequency and Strehl *** review encompassed a total of 817 eyes measured using different optical devices based on Hartmann-Shack,retinal image quality measurement and ray-tracing technologies at different ***:The outcomes found in this review lead us to conclude that the ICl V4c model provides good optical quality,by means of different metrics,when implanted.

Changes in balance ability,power output,and stretch-shortening cycle utilisation after two high-intensity intermittent training protocols in endurance runners

Purpose：This study aimed to describe the acute effects of 2 different high-intensity intermittent trainings（HIITs） on postural control,countermovement jump（CMJ）,squat jump（SJ）,and stretch-shortening cycle（SSC） utilisation,and to compare the changes induced by both protocols in those variables in endurance ***：Eighteen recreationally trained endurance runners participated in this study and were tested on 2 occasions：10 runs of 400 m with 90 s recovery between running bouts（10×400 m）,and 40 runs of 100 m with 30 s recovery between runs（40 × 100 m）.Heart rate was monitored during both HIITs;blood lactate accumulation and rate of perceived exertion were recorded after both *** jump ability（CMJ and SJ） and SSC together with postural control were also controlled during both ***：Repeated measures analysis revealed a significan improvement in CMJ and SJ during 10 × 400 m（p〈0.05）,whilst no significan changes were observed during 40×100 *** related to SSC did not experience significan changes during any of the *** for postural control,no significan changes were observed in the 40×100 m protocol,whilst significan impairments were observed during the 10×400 m protocol（p〈0.05）.Conclusion：A protocol with a higher number of shorter runs（40×100 m） induced different changes in those neuromuscular parameters than those with fewer and longer runs（10×400 m）.Whereas the 40×100 m protocol did not cause any significan changes in vertical jump ability,postural control or SSC utilisation,the 10×400 m protocol impaired postural control and caused improvements in vertical jumping tests.

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infects more than three million new individuals worldwide each year. In a high percent age of patients, acute infections become chronic, eventually progressing to fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Given the lack of effective prophylactic or therapeutic vaccines, and the limited sustained virological response rates to current therapies, new approaches are needed to prevent, control, and clear HCV *** into the host cell, being the first step of the viral cycle, is a potential target for the design of new antiviral compounds. Despite the recent discovery of the tight junction-associated proteins claudin-1 and occludin as HCV co-receptors, which is an important step towards the understanding of HCV entry, the precise mechanisms are still largely unknown. In addition, increasing evidence indicates that tools that are broadly employed to study HCV infection do not accurately reflect the real process in terms of viral particle composition and host cell phenotype. Thus, systems that more closely mimic natural infection are urgently required to elucidate the mechanisms of HCV entry, which will in turn help to design antiviral strategies against this part of the infection process.

Sequential Analysis in the Identification of 3rd Order System Tract in the Abidjan Margin

The use of sequential stratigraphy concept, based on well logs, sedimentology, and biostratigraphy, has shed light on the complex mechanisms controlling sedimentary accumulations. Consequently, identifying these mechanisms allows us to predict the hydrocarbon generation potential of source rocks. In the Ivorian offshore sedimentary basin, certain studies have contributed to understanding and characterizing the petroleum system. However, these previous works did not integrate biostratigraphic data to highlight sedimentary facies. This study, conducted on two wells in the Abidjan margin, is crucial as it helps us comprehend the geometry of fossil sediments in relation to sea level variations. It will also aid in reconstructing the basin-filling history and predicting the distribution of rocks capable of trapping oil, determining lowstand systems tracts (reservoir rocks), transgressive systems tracts, and highstand systems tracts (cap rocks). lithological analysis revealed predominantly clayey sedimentation with sandy layers. Well log data facilitated the delineation of formation boundaries and highlighted reservoirs consisting of sands, sandstones, limestones, and occasionally intercalated shales. Integrating these analysis results with biostratigraphic interpretations based on foraminifera and palynomorphs revealed that the traversed formations were deposited in a transitional environment ranging from Coniacian to Maastrichtian ages. Applying sequential stratigraphy concept from well logging resolved dating issues encountered in microfossil-poor or microfossil-free zones. The results of the Coniacian-Maastrichtian age sequential subdivision were aligned with the chart.

Factors predicting poor prognosis in ischemic colitis

AIM： To determine the clinical, analytical and endoscopic factors related to ischemic colitis （IC） severity. METHODS： A total of 85 patients were enrolled in a retrospective study from January 1996 to May 2004. There were 53 females and 32 males （age 74.6 ± 9.4 years, range 45-89 years）. The patients were diagnosed as IC. The following variables were analyzed including age, sex, period of time from the appearance of symptoms to admission, medical history, medication, stool frequency, clinical symptoms and signs, blood tests （hemogram and basic biochemical profile）, and endoscopic findings. Patients were divided in mild IC group and severe IC group （surgery and/or death）. Qualitative variables were analyzed using chi-square test and parametric data were analyzed using Student＇s t test （P 〈 0.05）. RESUlTS： The mild IC group was consisted of 69 patients （42 females and 27 males, average age 74.7 ± 12.4 years）. The severe IC group was composed of 16 patients （11 females and 5 males, average age of 73.8 ± 12.4 years）. One patient died because of failure of medical treatment （no surgery）, 15 patients underwent surgery （6 after endoscopic diagnosis and 9 after peroperatory diagnosis）. Eight of 85 patients （9.6%） died and the others were followed up as out-patients for 9.6 ± 3.5 mo. Demographic data, medical history, medication and stool frequency were similar in both groups （P 〉 0.05）. Seriously ill patients had less hematochezia than slightly ill patients （37.5% vs 86.9%, P = 0.000）. More tachycardia （45.4% vs 10.1%, P = 0.011） and a higher prevalence of peritonism signs （75% vs 5.7%, P = 0.000） were observed in the severe IC group while the presence and intensity of abdominal pain were similar between two groups. Two patients with severe IC had shock when admitted. Regarding analytical data, more seriously ill patients were found to have anemia and hyponatremia than the mildly ill patients （37.5% vs 10.1%, P = 0.014 and 46.6% vs 14.9%, P = 0.012, respectively）. This study investigated changes in the complexity （magnitude and structure of variability） of the collective behaviours of association football teams during competitive performance. Raw positional data from an entire competitive match between two professional teams were obtained with the ProZone tracking system. Five compound positional variables were used to investigate the collective patterns of performance of each team including： surface and geometrical centre. Analyses involve the coefficient （ApEn）, as well as the linear association between both area, stretch index, team length, team width, of variation （%CV） and approximate entropy parameters. Collective measures successfully captured the idiosyncratic behaviours of each team and their variations across the six time periods of the match. Key events such as goals scored and game breaks （such as half time and full time） seemed to influence the collective patterns of performance. While ApEn values significantly decreased during each half, the %CV increased. Teams seem to become more regular and predictable, but with increased magnitudes of variation in their organisational shape over the natural course of a match.

A way to extend operators in spaces of continuous functions to spaces of continuous set_valued functions is proposed. This extension is developed through the Steiner selections of the set_valued functions. Their properties and characteristics of the convergence of sequences of operators of this class are studied. In Part Ⅱ of this series some applications to approximation theory will be shown.
