Barnyard millet global core collection evaluation in the submontane Himalayan region of India using multivariate analysis

Barnyard millet(Echinochloa spp.) is one of the most underresearched crops with respect to characterization of genetic resources and genetic enhancement. A total of 95 germplasm lines representing global collection were evaluated in two rainy seasons at Almora,Uttarakhand, India for qualitative and quantitative traits and the data were subjected to multivariate analysis. High variation was observed for days to maturity, five-ear grain weight, and yield components. The first three principal component axes explained 73% of the total multivariate variation. Three major groups were detected by projection of the accessions on the first two principal components. The separation of accessions was based mainly on trait morphology. Almost all Indian and origin-unknown accessions grouped together to form an Echinochloa frumentacea group. Japanese accessions grouped together except for a few outliers to form an Echinochloa esculenta group. The third group contained accessions from Russia, Japan, Cameroon, and Egypt. They formed a separate group on the scatterplot and represented accessions with lower values for all traits except basal tiller number. The interrelationships between the traits indicated that accessions with tall plants, long and broad leaves, longer inflorescences, and greater numbers of racemes should be given priority as donors or parents in varietal development initiatives. Cluster analysis identified two main clusters based on agro-morphological characters.

Data security is a very important part of data transmission over insecure channels connected through high-speed networks. Due to COVID-19, the use of data transmission over insecure channels has increased in an exponential manner. Hybrid cryptography provides a better solution than a single type of cryptographical technique. In this paper, nested levels of hybrid cryptographical techniques are investigated with the help of Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) and Paillier cryptographical techniques. In the first level, information will be encrypted by DNA and at the second level, the ciphertext of DNA will be encrypted by Paillier cryptography. At the decryption time, firstly Paillier cryptography will be processed, and then DAN cryptography will be processed to get the original text. The proposed algorithm follows the concept of Last Encryption First Decryption (LEFD) at the time of decryption. The computed results are depicted in terms of tables and graphs.

Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a pleiotropic cytokine which plays an important role in a num-ber of cellular processes including proliferation, survival, differentiation, migration and inva-sion. IL-6 mediates its downstream effects by activating a number of signaling cascades including JAK/STAT, PI3K/AKT and MAPK pathways. In addition to its effects on tumor cells, IL-6 also regulates tumor progression and tumor metastasis by modulating tumor angiogenesis and tumor lymphangiogenesis. A number of studies have shown that IL-6 levels are markedly upregulated in cancer patients. We and others have shown that high IL-6 expression indepen-dently predicts tumor recurrence, tumor metastasis and poor survival in head and neck cancer patients. Therefore targeting IL-6 signaling is a potential therapeutic strategy for the treat-ment of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). In this review, we discuss the cur-rent understanding of the role of IL-6 in HNSCC progression and potential therapeutic strategies to target IL-6 signaling for the treatment of head and neck cancer patients. Purification and Characterization of Thermostable Cellulase Free Xylanase from <i>Pseudomonas</i>Sp. XPB-6

Extracellular cellulase free xylanase from Pseudomonas sp. XPB-6 was purified to homogeneity with 2.15 fold of purity and 60.31% yield, respectively by ammonium sulfate precipitation and DEAE ion exchange chromatography. The protein was found to be a homotrimer consisting of three subunits of 41 kDa each and the native molecular weight of 123 kDa. The pH and temperature optimum for enzyme were 7.5 in 100 mM sodium phosphate buffer at 60°C and was stable to a high and broader range of pH and to a temperature up to 75°C. Kinetic experiments at 60°C gave Vmax and Km values of 144.92 U/mg and 0.60 mg·ml-1 respectively for birch wood xylan. The enzyme had no apparent requirement for cofactors, and its activity was strongly inhibited 1 mM Hg2+ and Cu2+ while it was slightly inactivated by 1 mM Mg2+ and Pb2+. Shelf life of xylanase of Pseudomonas sp. XPB-6 was studied both at room temperature and 4°C. The enzyme was stable both at room temperature and at 4°C for 90 and 28 days respectively. The half-life of the enzyme was approximately 40 days at room temperature.
