Structural ordering in the concentrated magnetic colloids containing 50×5 nm hard magnetic disc-like SrFe_(12)O_(19) nanoparticles was investigated by cryogenic scanning electron microscopy,optical microscopy,magnetic measurements,and small-angle X-ray *** was revealed that macroscopically homogeneous magnetic liquid consists of dynamic threads of stacked *** threads align into quasiperiodic arrays with the distances between individual threads of a few *** also can form pseudodomain structures with -90°domain boundaries realized through T-type thread *** effects of magnetic attraction and electrostatic repulsion on the equilibrium interplatelet distance in the threads were *** was demonstrated that this distance can be tuned by the control of the particles charge and electric double layer screening from Stern layer thickness(-1 nm)to tens of *** was shown that the permanent magnetic field is not able to cause any structural changes in the ordered magnetic liquid phase,while alternating field draws particles apart by their *** variation of interparticle distance up to 6%was achieved using an alternating magnetic field of low *** data were complemented by the theoretical models of screened electrostatic interactions between spherical and platelike magnetic *** last model provides good predictive power and correlates with the experimental *** stabilization energy of the condensed phase in the order of 1-10 kBT was derived from the *** approach allows controlling of an equilibrium interparticle distance and interparticle distance distribution by adjusting the magnetization and surface charge of the particles as well as the ionic strength of the solvent.

Recently,increasing attention has been devoted to mastering a new technique of optical delivery of micro-objects tractorbeam’1–*** beams have uniform intensity profiles along their propagation direction and can exert a negative force that,in contrast to the familiar pushing force associated with radiation pressure,pulls the scatterer toward the light *** was experimentally observed that under certain circumstances,the pulling force can be significantly enhanced6 if a non-spherical scatterer,for example,a linear chain of optically bound objects10–12,is optically *** we demonstrate that motion of two optically bound objects in a tractor beam strongly depends on theirs mutual distance and spatial *** configuration-dependent optical forces add extra flexibility to our ability to control matter with *** these interactions opens the door to new applications involving the formation,sorting or delivery of colloidal self-organized structures.

Electric Field of the Ocean Induced by Diffusion

The equations for gradient of electric field in seawater induced by gradients of salinity, temperature and pressure were developed by means of non-equilibrium thermodynamics. Extrathermodynamic assumptions and accepted chemical model of seawater permit to carry out numerical calculations of electric field caused by diffusion, thermodiffusion and barodiffusion for realistic hydrophysical structure of the ocean. It is shown that contribution of barodiffusion into electric field of the ocean is almost constant (about -3 × 10-7 v/M). This magnitude can be ignored in many cases because it is too small. However natural salinity and temperature gradients significantly impact into electric field of the ocean.

A numerical method that compensates image distortions caused by random fluctuations of the distance to an object in spectral-domain optical coherence tomography(SD OCT)has been proposed and verified *** proposed method is based on the analysis of the phase shifts between adjacent scans that are caused by micrometer-scale displacements and the subsequent compensation for the displacements through phase-frequency correction in the spectral *** efficiency of the method is demonstrated in model experiments with harmonic and random movements of a scattering object as well as during in vivo imaging of the retina of the human eye.

Description of the Nature Using the Models Developed in Euclidean Space

In elucidating the laws of matter motion, it is necessary also to take into account the subjective human possibilities to think and construct models. These possibilities are restricted to the framework of Euclidean space. No problems could arise during the development of the laws of classical science. However, it was established later on that in some areas it was rather difficult to describe the motion of the matter in terms of Euclidean models. In these cases, researchers either introduce a space of higher dimensionality, use complex numbers, or make some deformations of our habitual Euclidean space. Those were exactly the cases for which the pseudo-Euclidean, Hilbertian, reciprocal, micro-Euclidean and other spaces were proposed. Humans are able to think only in terms of Euclidean space. So, to provide a correct description of unusual motion of matter, the necessity arises to transform the information into the understandable Euclidean space. The operators suitable for these purposes are Lorentz transformations, Schrodinger equation, the integral transformations of Fourier and Weierstrass, etc. The features of information transformations between different spaces are illustrated with the examples from the areas of X-ray structural analysis and quantum physics.

BACKGROUND Aorto-esophageal fistula is an extremely rare cause of acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding(UGIB).CASE SUMMARY We present a case of an 80-year-old woman with esophageal cancer who was admitted to our department with hemorrhagic shock due to *** the diagnostic procedure,emergency computed tomography angiography was performed and confirmed aorto-esophageal *** radiologists inserted a stent graft into the aorta,successfully closing the ***,the patient later died of heart failure following irreversible hemorrhagic *** confirmed the aorto-esophageal fistula,which formed 1 cm below the distal edge of the stent previously inserted into the esophagus for a malignant *** There are very rare causes of *** clinical decisions are made during the diagnostic workup of these patients,we must be aware of the limitations of various therapeutic options,even the most contemporary.

Medium chromatic dispersion spectral-domain optical calculation and correction in coherence tomography

A method for determining and correcting distortions in spectral-domain optical coherence tomography images caused by medium dispersion was developed. The method is based on analysis of the phase distribution of the interference signal recorded by an optical coherence tomography device using an iterative approach to find and compensate for the effect of a medium＇s chromatic dispersion on point-spread function broadening in optical coherence tomography. This enables compensation of the impact of medium dispersion to an accuracy of a fraction of a radian （units of percent） while avoiding additional measurements and solution of the optimization problem. The robustness of the method was demonstrated experimentally using model and biological objects.
