Effectiveness of rotavirus vaccines against rotavirus infection and hospitalization in Latin America: systematic review and metaanalysis

Background:rotavirus was the leading cause of childhood diarrhoea-related hospitalisations and death before the introduction of rotavirus ***:We describe the effectiveness of rotavirus vaccines to prevent rotavirus infections and hospitalizations and the main rotavirus strains circulating before and after vaccine introduction through a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies published between 1990 and 2014.203 studies were included to estimate the proportion of infections due to rotavirus and 10 to assess the impact of the vaccines.41 of 46 studies in the post-vaccination period were used for meta-analysis of genotypes,20 to calculate VE against infection,eight for VE against hospitalisation and seven for VE against severe ***:24.3%(95%CI 22.1–26.5)and 16.1%(95%CI 13.2–19.3)of cases of diarrhoea were due to rotavirus before and after vaccine introduction,*** most prevalent G types after vaccine introduction were G2(51.6%,95%CI 38–65),G9(14.5%,95%CI 7–23)and G1(14.2%,95%CI 7–23);while the most prevalent P types were P[4](54.1%,95%CI 41–67)and P[8](33%,95%CI 22–46).G2P[4]was the most frequent genotype combination after vaccine *** was 53%(95%CI 46–60)against infection,73%(95%CI,66–78)against hospitalisation and 74%(95%CI,68.0–78.0)against severe *** in hospitalisations and mortality due to diarrhoea were observed in countries that adopted universal rotavirus ***:rotavirus vaccines are effective in preventing rotavirus-diarrhoea in children in Latin *** vaccines were associated with changes in genotype distribution.

Axillary recurrence after intramammary sentinel lymph nodes metastases with capsular extravasation

Axillary recurrence is a rare event in patients treated with sentinel lymph node biopsy alone with the majority occurring in the first 5 years after surgery. Intramammary lymph node (IMLN) can be the primary sites of metastasis and sentinel lymph nodes, but the clinical significance, including prognosis and therapeutic approach is yet unclear, even more with capsular extravasation. IMLN metastases are strongly correlated with axillary lymph nodes involvement and therefore a guide for further surgical management of the axillary nodes.

Environmentally friendly energy sources alternatives to fossil fuels such as solar and wind are strategic for meeting the needs of an increasingly energy demanding society,despite their periodic/intermittent ***,urge the development of clean and renewable energy sources such as based on solar energy and water in a cyclic way,by photoinduced water-splitting and regeneration in fuel *** this context,energy storage devices such as hybrid supercapacitors become fundamental for realization of a sustainable *** this review,the early discovery and recent advances concerning synthetic strategies,hierarchical structures,and oxygen evolution reaction(OEr)/hydrogen evolution reactions(HEr) catalytic performances of nickel-vanadium double hydroxides(NiV-LDHs) based nanomaterials are summarized.A discussion about the role of vanadium ions in HEr/OEr was also included,highlighting the recent progress in theoretical calculations in this ***,some hybrid supercapacitor electrode materials based on NiV-LDHs are described,including the strategies to circumvent the parasitic oxygen evolution reaction during charge-discharge of those energy storage *** short,catalysts for HEr/OEr and hybrid supercapacitor electrode materials based on NiV-LDHs were reviewed considering their key multifunctional role in the way to a more sustainable society.

Xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis mimicking gallbladder cancer and causing obstructive cholestasis

BACKGrOUND: Xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis (XGC) is a destructive inflammatory disease of the gallbladder that can mimic gallbladder carcinoma. METHODs: We present the case of a 35-year-old Hispanic male complaining of right upper quadrant pain and jaundice for 2 months prior to admission. He denied a history of fever, nausea/ vomiting, and weight loss. The past medical history was relevant only for diabetes. He had no previous history of jaundice or previous operations. rEsULTs: CA19-9 was slightly elevated (52 U/mL). Abdominal ultrasonography showed an irregular thickening of the gallbladder wall and no gallstones were detected. CT scan also revealed an irregular thickening of the wall of the gallbladder body suggestive of malignancy. At laparotomy, the mass was adherent to the duodenum and colon, and although the frozen section biopsy was negative, the intraoperative findings were suggestive of malignancy, and the patient underwent left liver trisegmentectomy, resection of the common bile duct and roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy. Pathological examination unexpectedly revealed XGC without malignancy. CONCLUsIONs: Preoperative and intraoperative differential diagnosis of XGC from gallbladder carcinoma remains a challenge when it is associated with inflammatory involvement of surrounding tissues. since gallbladder carcinoma and XGC may coexist, radical resection is justified when malignancy cannot be completely ruled out.

Fracture Loci in sheet Metal Forming: A review

Fracture in sheet metal forming usually occurs as ductile fracture, rarely as brittle fracture, at the operating temperatures and rates of loading that are typical of real processes in two different modes：（1） tensile and（2） in-plane shear（respectively, the same as modes I and II of fracture mechanics）. The circumstances under which each mode will occur are identified in terms of plastic flow and ductile damage by means of an analytical approach to characterize fracture loci under plane stress conditions that takes anisotropy into consideration. Fracture loci was characterized by means of the fracture forming limit line and by the shear fracture forming limit line in the fracture forming limit diagram. Experiments were performed with single point incremental forming and double-notched test specimens loaded in tension, torsion and in-plane shear give support to the presentation and allow determining the fracture loci of AA1050-H111 aluminium sheets with1 mm thickness. The relation between fracture toughness and the fracture forming limits was also investigated by comparing experimental values of the strains at fracture obtained from a truncated conical part produced by single point incremental forming and from double-notched test specimens loaded in tension.

Continuous positive airway pressure acutely increases exercise duration in children with severe therapy-resistant asthma:a randomized crossover trial

Background Lower exercise tolerance is an important component of asthma and the possible effects of non-invasive ven-tilation on exercise capacity in individuals with severe therapy-resistant asthma(sTrA)are *** study aimed to evaluate the immediate effect of continuous positive airway pressure(CPAP)on exercise tolerance in children with *** We performed a controlled,randomized,crossover clinical trial including subjects aged 6 to 18 years old diagnosed with ***,anthropometric and lung function data were *** participants in the intervention group(IG)used CPAP(PEEP 10cmH2O and FiO20.21)for a period of 40 *** in the control group(CG)used CPAP with mini-mum PEEP at 1 cmH20 also for 40 ***,subjects from both groups underwent cardiopulmonary exercise testing(CPET).After a 15-day washout period,on a subsequent visit,subjects participated in the opposite group to the initial *** Thirteen subjects with a mean age of 12.30±1.7 years were *** variables of peak expiratory flow(PEF)and forced expiratory volume in the first second(FEV1)before using CPAP and after performing CPET did not show sig-nificant *** CPET results,there was no significant difference(P=0.59)between groups at peak exercise for oxygen consumption—VO2(CG:33.4±6.3 and IG:34.5±5.9,mL kg^(-1)min^(-1)).However,the IG(12.4±2.1)presented a total test time(min)significantly(P=0.01)longer than the CG(11.5±1.3).Conclusion The results suggest that the use of CPAP before physical exercise increases exercise duration in children and adolescents with sTrA.

In this editorial,we comment on the paper by Muthu et al published in the recent issue of the *** editorial review focusses on the use of adipose-derived stem cells(ADsCs)in knee osteoarthritis *** discuss the differences between the stromal vascular fraction and microfragmented adipose tissue and highlight the results of clinical studies comparing both treatments and the use of hyaluronic acid,platelet-rich plasma,and bone marrow aspirate *** use of expanded ADsCs is also discussed;moreover,concerns regarding treatment with ADsCs,particularly the heterogeneity of published studies and the need to standardize protocols to explore clinical potential is explored.

Improving sexual and reproductive health knowledge and practice in Mozambican families with media campaign and volunteer family health champions
