Introduc.ion: Hepatoc.llular c.rc.noma is the most c.mmon primary neoplasm of the liver and a signific.nt c.use of mortality in patients with c.rrhosis. A retrospec.ive c.oss-sec.ional study was performed to analyze epidemiologic.l aspec.s related to risk fac.ors, diagnosis, staging and first-line treatment in a c.osed population. Methods: The medic.l rec.rds of patients seen between November 1998 and May 2011 were revisited. Results: Of the 272 patients inc.uded in this study, 229 (84.2%) were male and the average age was 57.1 years (standard deviation 10.9 years). The most c.mmon etiology was hepatitis c.virus infec.ion in 145 (55.1%) patients, with this being the single c.use in 88 (33.4%) patients. The largest masses ranged from 6 mm to 260 mm in diameter with a mean of 61.4 mm (standard deviation 41.5 mm). Only one mass was found in 145 (64.2%) c.ses, two masses in 26 (11.5%), three masses in 9 (4%) and 46 patients (20.3%) had multifoc.l disease. Early stage disease was diagnosed in 47 patients (22.0%), advanc.d stage in 65 (30.4%) and terminal stage in 32 (14.9%). Hepatoc.llular c.rc.noma was found by c.anc. in 11%. Diagnosis was by means of imaging in 175 (68.1%) c.ses. The level of alpha-fetoprotein was measured in 209 patients, with 29.2% having levels lower than 20 ng/mL and 34.9% having levels above 400 ng/mL. Spec.fic.treatment was administered in 236 patients (86.8%) with hepatic.c.emoembolization in 127 (46.7%) and liver transplantation in 72 (26.5%);of these 33 (45.8%) rec.ived hepatic.c.emoembolization as a bridge to transplantation. Thirty-four patients (12.5%) rec.ived only supportive therapy. c.nc.usions: Patients are c.iefly male and disease involvement generally oc.urs in the 5th dec.de of life. c.rrhosis was present in most patients and hepatitis c.virus infec.ion was the c.mmonest etiologic.agent. Only one imaging examination was required for diagnosis in most patients. The measurement of alpha-fetoprotein levels did not prove to be a good too

Bac.ground Treeline ec.tones of Mediterranean ec.regions have been affec.ed by the inc.easing intensity and severity of droughts. Even though the effec. of droughts on forest dynamic. has been widely doc.mented, knowledge is relatively sc.rc. of how extreme c.imate episodes affec. the hydraulic.struc.ure and, therefore, the phys-iology of woody plants. The Mediterranean Andes have experienc.d an uninterrupted period of drought sinc. 2010, inc.uding an extremely dry year in 2019 with approximately 80% rainfall defic.t. Here, we investigated shifts in wood anatomic.l and physiologic.l traits of Kagenec.ia angustifolia, an endemic.treeline spec.es, in response to this drought *** We evaluated the xylem plastic.ty of three K. angustifolia populations ac.oss their natural distribution(31–35° SL) based on anatomic.l(vessel struc.ure and distribution) and physiologic.l(intrinsic.water-use effic.enc.) variables in the tree rings. We foc.sed on the period 2000–2020 that c.rresponds to before the megadrought(2000–2007),(ii) megadrought(2008–2018) and(iii) hyperdrought(2019–2020). The variables were annualized and analyzed by linear mixed-effec.s *** Our results provide insights to the anatomic.l and physiologic.l mec.anisms underlying the resilienc. of treeline forests to persistent droughts in c.ntral c.ile. We found that the extreme drought in 2019–2020 triggered shifts in vessel size and frequenc. that inc.eased hydraulic.safety. These signific.nt shifts in vessel traits oc.urred in parallel with a dec.ease in pit aperture area and an inc.ease in water-use effic.enc., further inc.easing the resilienc. of K. angustifolia to extreme drought *** Our results revealed c.ordinated shifts in vessel size and frequenc. and water-use effic.enc. in response to the megadrought, thereby reduc.ng vulnerability to hydraulic.failure. Motivational and Methodologic.l Fac.ors Involved in the Helping Behavior Test in Laboratory Rodents

Empathy allows humans and other animals to share the emotional state of another, adopting that individual’s perspec.ive on a given situation. This ability is fundamental for spec.es living in groups. Helping behavior in laboratory animals has been used to study empathy. In this test, subjec.s are exposed to a c.nspec.fic.that is trapped and learn to open the c.ge to release the other animal. However, the interpretation of helping behavior as an emphatic.lly motivated ac.ion is still c.ntroversial. Here we review the studies that use the helping behavioral test proposed by Ben-Ami Bartal and c.lleagues in 2011 to better understand motivational fac.ors for this behavior. In addition, we c.mpare methodologic.l aspec.s of these studies. In c.nc.usion, helping behavior c.n be driven by empathy, but other fac.ors suc. as the desire for soc.al c.ntac. and learning c.mponents c.nnot be ruled out as motivators. In addition, studies foc.sed on evaluating neurobiologic.l mec.anisms underlying helping behavior in laboratory rodents c.n help eluc.date the fac.ors involved in releasing the trapped c.-spec.fic.

Previously,it was suggested that biologic.l maturation(BM)c.uld be linked to c.rdiac.autonomic.rec.very(c.R)in the pediatric.***,this influenc. hasn’t been c.nfirmed *** aim was to investigate the impac. of BM on c.R in female volleyball *** study with a sample of 38 volleyball players,c.mprising 20 girls(age:[11.62.1]years)and 18 women(age:[24.55.5]years),we analyzed BM,c.mparing maturing subjec.s(girls)with mature subjec.s(women).Additionally,we assessed peak height veloc.ty(PHV)in *** c.nduc.ed a training session involving repeated sprints(3 rounds of 6 sprints interspersed by 5 min[min]of passive rest).Using short-range radio telemetry,we analyzed c.R during(at the end of the 1st and 2nd rounds)and after(following the 3rd round)the training session of repeated sprints by applying the 60-s to 300-s heart rate rec.very index(HRR-Index).Girls exhibited superior c.R c.mpared to women(round 2:60-s,120-s,240-s,and 300-s,pc.ted that individuals in the Late-PHV stage demonstrated superior c.R c.mpared to those in the Early-PHV and During-PHV groups.(60-s to 300-s,η2p>0.4,pc.s in the During-PHV stage were superior to those in the Early-PHV stage(240-sa 300-s,η2 p>0.4,pc.nc.uded that biologic.l maturation has a signific.nt impac. on c.rdiac.autonomic.rec.very.

Applying a c.ntext-based Method to Build a Knowledge Graph for the Blue Amazon

Knowledge graphs are employed in several tasks,suc. as question answering and rec.mmendation systems,due to their ability to represent relationships between *** c.nstruc.ing suc. a graphs,however,remains an unresolved c.allenge within knowledge *** tac.le this c.allenge,we propose c.xKG,a method spec.fic.lly aimed at extrac.ing knowledge graphs in a c.ntext of limited resourc.s in whic. the only input is a set of unstruc.ured text *** is based on OpenIE(a relationship triple extrac.ion method)and BERT(a language model)and c.ntains four stages:the extrac.ion of relationship triples direc.ly from text;the identific.tion of synonyms ac.oss triples;the merging of similar entities;and the building of bridges between knowledge graphs of different *** method distinguishes itself from those in the c.rrent literature(i)through its use of the parse tree to avoid the overlapping entities produc.d by base implementations of OpenIE;and(ii)through its bridges,whic. c.eate a c.nnec.ed network of graphs,overc.ming a limitation similar methods have of one isolated graph per *** c.mpare our method to two others by generating graphs for movie artic.es from Wikipedia and c.ntrasting them with benc.mark graphs built from the OMDb movie *** results suggest that our method is able to improve multiple aspec.s of knowledge graph *** also highlight the c.itic.l role that triple identific.tion and named-entity rec.gnition have in improving the quality of automatic.lly generated graphs,suggesting future paths for ***,we apply c.xKG to build BlabKG,a knowledge graph for the Blue Amazon,and disc.ss possible improvements.

This work shows that despite a lattic. mismatc. of almost 20%, c.MnTe/c.Te/c.MnTe heterostruc.ures grown direc.ly on Si(111) have surprisingly good optic.l emission properties. The investigated struc.ures were grown by molec.lar beam epitaxy and c.arac.erized by sc.nning transmission elec.ron mic.osc.py, mac.o-and mic.o-photoluminesc.nc.. Low temperature mac.o-photoluminesc.nc. experiments indic.te three emission bands whic. depend on the c.Te layer thic.ness and have different c.nfinement c.arac.eristic.. Temperature measurements reveal that the lower energy emission band (at 1.48 eV)is assoc.ated to defec.s and bound exc.ton states, while the main emission at 1.61 eV has a weak 2D c.arac.er and the higher energy one at 1.71 eV has a well-defined (zero-dimensional, 0D) 0D nature. Mic.o-photoluminesc.nc. measurements show the existenc. of sharp and strongly c.rc.larly polarized (up to 40%) emission lines whic. c.n be related to the presenc. of Mn in the heterostruc.ure. This result opens the possibility of produc.ng photon sourc.s with the typic.l spin c.ntrol of the diluted magnetic.semic.nduc.ors using the low-c.st silic.n tec.nology.
