We report on the bromatological profile,the preliminary phytochemical composition,the antioxidant capacity,and the in vitro neuroprotective effects of Blackberry Jam *** were the major macronutrients(20 g/100 g)in both pulp and seeds(36.5 g/100g),that also possess a low lipid content(0.1 g/100 g and 0.7 g/100,and 86 Kcal/100 g,respectively).Eleven compounds including a diterpenoid dimmer,a lactone,coumarins,sphingosines,and flavonoids have been identified for the first time in the pulp and seeds of *** by mass *** electrochemical index of the hydroalcoholic extract of the pulp(BJFp respectively)and an appreciable energy value(89 Kcal/100 g)was around 6.8μA/V and two reversible cathode peaks were observed up to 0.5 V,thus shedding light to its antioxidant capacity,which was also evidenced by the DPPH•and ABTS+radical scavenging assays(Ic50 of 3.30±0.23μg/mL and 18.17±1.21μg/mL,respectively).The BJFp protected against oxidative stress in vitro by significantly decreasing both the lipid peroxidation and contents of carbonyl proteins in a dose-dependent manner in murine brain cells treated with ***,the BJFp increased the superoxide dismutase(Ec50 of 11.99±0.35μg/mL)and catalase(Ec50 of 69.53±0.43μg/mL)*** BJFp markedly decreased both the in vitro acetylcholinesterase(Ic50 of 227.9±0.34μg/mL)and butyrylcholinesterase(Ic50 of 8.77±0.40μg/mL)***,besides being a great source of energy,this Amazon superfruit may be promising for enhancing the treatment outcomes of ailments related to oxidative stress,which require further in vivo investigation.

The dynamics of a symmetric coupling of three modified quadratic maps

We investigate the dynamical behavior of a symmetric linear coupling of three quadratic maps with exponential terms, and identify various interesting features as a function of two control parameters. In particular, we investigate the emergence of quasiperiodic states arising from Naimark-Sacker bifurcations of stable period-l, period-2, and period-3 orbits. We also investigate the multistability in the same coupling. Lyapunov exponents, parameter planes, phase space portraits, and bifurcation diagrams are used to investigate transitions from periodic to quasiperiodic states, from quasiperiodic to mode-locked states and to chaotic states, and from chaotic to hyperchaotic states.

Dynamics in the Parameter Space of a Neuron Model

Some two-dimensional parameter-space diagrams are numerically obtained by considering the largest Lyapunov exponent for a four-dimensional thirteen-parameter Hindmarsh-Rose neuron *** different parameter planes are considered,and it is shown that depending on the combination of parameters,a typical scenario can be preserved:for some choice of two parameters,the parameter plane presents a comb-shaped chaotic region embedded in a large periodic *** is also shown that there exist regions close to these comb-shaped chaotic regions,separated by the comb teeth,organizing themselves in period-adding bifurcation cascades.

We report some results indicating changes in the observed dynamics of the Rössler model under the influence of external sinusoidal *** varying the control parameters of the external sinusoidal forcing,namely the amplitude and the angular frequency,we show,through numerical simulations which include parameter planes and Lyapunov exponents,that the external forcing can produce both chaos-order and order-chaos *** also show that the sinusoidal forcing may generate hyperchaos.

OBJEcTIVE:To evaluate the sternocleidomastoid and the descending portion of the trapezius muscles in terms of electromyographic activity and pressure pain threshold in women with chronic cervical pain after acupuncture ***:Twenty-five women,aged 18-50 years[(31±3)years],with chronic neck and temporomandibular disorder participated in the *** electromyographic activity of the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the descending portion of the trapezius muscle were recorded at rest,during shoulder elevation,(left and right)rotation of the neck and crucifix *** voluntary contraction was used to normalize the electromyographic activity *** points used for acupuncture were Jiache(ST 6),Xiaguan(ST 7),Quanliao(SI 18),Tinggong(SI 19),Yifeng(TE-17),Fengchi(GB 20),Renzhong(GV 26),Yangbai(GB-14),and points of the lower and upper limbs:Tai chong(LV 3),Zusanli(ST 36),Sanyinjiao(SP 6),Kunlun(BL 60),He Gu(LI4)and Yanglingquan(GB 34).The treatment course was 10 sessions,30 min long per session,and twice a *** final electromyographic activity and pressure pain threshold data collection were performed 15 d after treatment ***:The normalized electromyographic activity and pressure pain threshold data were tabulated and submitted to statistical analysis using t-test(Pcant difference was observed during shoulder elevation for the left trapezius muscle,during neck rotation from the right side to the left,and pressure pain threshold for the trapezius and sternocleidomastoid muscles,bilaterally,after the acupuncture ***:The acupuncture treatment improved the neck muscles in terms of electromyographic activity and increased the tolerance to chronic pain in women.

A RANS-VoF Numerical Model to Analyze the Output Power of An OWc-WEc Equipped with Wells and Impulse Turbines in A Hypothetical Sea-State

Wave energy is a renewable source with significant amount in relation to the global demand. A good concept of a device applied to extract this type of energy is the onshore oscillating water column wave energy converter(OWc-WEc). This study shows a numerical analysis of the diameter determination of two types of turbines, Wells and Impulse, installed in an onshore OWc device subjected to a hypothetical sea state. commercial software FLUENT?,which is based on RANS-VoF(Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes equations and Volume of Fluid technique), is employed. A methodology that imposes air pressure on the chamber, considering the air compressibility effect, is used. The mathematical domain consists of a 10 m deep flume with a 10 m long and 10 m wide OWc chamber at its end(geometry is similar to that of the Pico's plant installed in Azores islands, Portugal). On the top of the chamber, a turbine works with air exhalation and inhalation induced by the water free surface which oscillates due to the incident wave. The hypothetical sea state, represented by a group of regular waves with periods from 6 to 12 s and heights from 1.00 to 2.00 m(each wave with an occurrence frequency), is considered to show the potential of the presented methodology. Maximum efficiency(relation between the average output and incident wave powers) of46% was obtained by using a Wells turbine with the diameter of 2.25 m, whereas the efficiency was 44% by an Impulse turbine with the diameter of 1.70 m.

In the present work,we used five different versions of the quark-meson coupling(QMc)model to compute astrophysical quantities related to the GW170817 event and the neutron star cooling *** of the models are based on the original bag potential structure and three versions consider a harmonic oscillator potential to confine *** bag-like models also incorporate the pasta phase used to describe the inner crust of neutron *** a simple method studied in the present work,we show that the pasta phase does not play a significant ***,the QMc model that satisfies the GW170817 constraints with the lowest slope of the symmetry energy exhibits a cooling profile compatible with observational data.
