A new definition of the dual descriptor,namely,thethermodynamic dual descriptor,is developed within the grand canonicalpotential *** new definition is formulated to describe the same △f_r(r)=β/2C[f^+(r)-f^-(r)](C>0) physical phenomenon as the original definition proposed by Morell,Grand,and Toro-labbé(***.A2005,109,205),which is characterized by a second-order response of the electron density towards an electron *** formulate the new definition,we performed two successive partial derivatives of the average electron density,one with respect to the average number of electrons,and the other with respect to the chemical potential of the electron *** the derivative is expressed in terms of the three-state ensemble model,in the regime of low temperatures up to temperatures of chemical interest,one finds that the thermodynamic dual descriptor can be expressed as?f_T(r)=(β/2)C[f^+(r)-f^-(r)],whereβ=1/k_BT,Cis a global quantity that depends on the temperature and global electronic properties of the molecule(the first ionization potential and the electron affinity),C=1 for systems with zero fractional charge,and C=C_ω>0(albeit very close to zero)for systems with nonzero fractional charge,,and f^+(r)and f^-(r)are the nucleophilic and electrophilic Fukui functions,*** quantity within the square brackets is the original definition of the dual *** the local terms(the ones containing regioselectivity information)are equal to those of the dual descriptor,?f_T(r)has the same regioselectivity information,multiplied by the global quantity(β/2)*** implies that the regioselectivity information contained in the original dual descriptor is preserved at all temperatures different from zero,and for any value of C>*** of the most important features of this new definition is that it avoidsthe undesired Dirac delta behavior observed when the second order partial derivative of the average density is taken with respect to the average

Hybrid Ni_(2)P/CoP Nanosheets as Efficient and robust Electrocatalysts for Domestic Wastewater Splitting

The development of low-cost,robust and efficient non-noble metal electrocatalysts is still a pursuit for the hydrogen evolution reaction(HEr).Herein,a self-standing electrocatalyst,Ni_(2)P/CoP nanosheet,was fabricated directly on three-dimensional Ni foams by two facile steps,which illustrated both high activity and stability for HEr in different *** from the porous structures of nanosheets with large specific surface area and the hybrid Ni_(2)P/CoP,the as-prepared electrocatalyst presented remarkable HEr with overpotentials of 65.2 and 87.8 mV to reach a current density of-10 mA cm^(-2)in neutral and alkaline media,*** function theory calculations revealed a lower activation energy of water dissociation and efficient HEr steps of hybrid Ni_(2)P/CoP nanosheets compared with mono *** self-standing electrocatalyst maintained excellent chemical ***,the HEr process in domestic wastewater was realized with more impressive performance by using Ni_(2)P/CoP nanosheets compared with commercial Pt/*** was continuously generated for 20 h in mildly alkaline dishwashing *** work provides a feasible way to fabricate non-noble metal and self-standing hybrid bimetallic phosphides for HEr in neutral and alkaline media,showing great potential for efficient hydrogen production by re-utilizing wastewater resources.

Background:Adenosine triphosphatase inhibitory factor 1(IF1)is a key protein involved in energy ***1 has been linked to various agerelated diseases,although its relationship with physical activity(PA)remains ***,the apolipoprotein A-I(apoA-I),a PA-modulated lipoprotein,could play a role in this relationship because it shares a binding site with IF1 on the cell-surface ATP *** examined here the associations between chronic PA and plasma IF1 concentrations among older adults,and we investigated whether apoA-I mediated these ***:In the present work,1096 healthy adults(63.8%females)aged 70 years and over who were involved in the Multidomain Alzheimer Prevention Trial study were ***1 plasma concentrations(square root of ng/ml)were measured at the 1-year visit of the Multidomain Alzheimer Prevention Trial,while PA levels(square root of metabolic equivalent task min/week)were assessed using questionnaires administered each year from baseline to the 3-year *** linear regressions were performed to investigate the associations between the first-year mean PA levels and IF1 *** analyses were conducted to examine whether apoA-I mediated these *** linear regressions were carried out to investigate whether the 1-year visit IF1 concentrations predicted subsequent changes in ***:Multiple linear regressions indicated that first-year mean PA levels were positively associated with IF1 concentrations(B=0.021;SE=0.010;p=0.043).Mediation analyses revealed that about 37.7%of this relationship was mediated by apoA-I(B_(ab)=0.008;SE=0.004;p=0.023).longitudinal investigations demonstrated that higher concentrations of IF1 at the 1-year visit predicted a faster decline in PA levels over the subsequent 2 years(time×IF1:B=0.148;SE=0.066;p=0.025).Conclusion:This study demonstrates that regular PA is associated with plasma IF1 concentrations,and it suggests that apoA-I partly med

Pazopanib is the first and only tyrosine kinase inhibitor currently approved for the treatment of multiple histological subtypes of soft tissue sarcoma(STS).Initially developed as a small molecule inhibitor of vascular endothelial growth factor receptors,preclinical work indicates that pazopanib exerts an anticancer effect through the inhibition of both angiogenic and oncogenic signaling *** the establishment of optimal dosing and safety profiles in early phase studies and approval for the treatment of advanced renal cell carcinoma,pazopanib was investigated in STS.A landmark phase III randomized study demonstrated improved progression-free survival with pazopanib compared to that with placebo in pretreated patients with STS of various *** efficacy of pazopanib in specific STS subtypes has been further described in real-world-based case series in both mixed and subtype-specific STS *** present,there are no clinically validated predictive biomarkers for use in selecting patients with advanced STS for pazopanib therapy,limiting the clinical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of the *** this review,we summarize the preclinical and clinical data for pazopanib,outline the evidence base for its effect in STS and explore reported studies that have investigated putative biomarkers.

Geochemistry and zircon SHrIMP U-Pb dating of granitoids from the west segment of the North Qaidam

Granitoid intrusives such as Saishitenshan, Tuanyushan, Aolaohe and Sanchagou occur widely in the western segment of North Qaidam. All these bodies trend NW, roughly parallel to the regional structure. Zircon SHrIMP dating for these granites show that they range in age from Ordovician to Permian; 465.4±3.5 Ma for Saishitenshan, 469.7±4.6 Ma and 443.5±3.6 Ma for Tuanyushan, 372.1±2.6 Ma for Aolaohe, and 271.2±1.5 Ma and 259.9±1.2 Ma for Sanchagou. Both the Tuanyshan and Aolaohe plutons record two distinct intrusive events. Geochemically, the early Paleozoic granites have an island arc or active continental margin affinity, and their protolith may have been Mesoproterozoic oceanic crust derived from depleted mantle. The protolith of the late Paleozoic granites may have been Mesoproterozoic lower crust from the root of an island arc with the magmas reflecting a mixture of mantle and crustal material.

Battery state-of-charge estimation using machine learning analysis of ultrasonic signatures

The potential of acoustic signatures to be used for State-of-Charge(SoC)estimation is demonstrated using artificial neural network regression *** approach represents a streamlined method of processing the entire acoustic waveform instead of performing manual,and often arbitrary,waveform peak *** applications where computational economy is prioritised,simple metrics of statistical significance are used to formally identify the most informative waveform *** alone can be exploited for SoC *** is further shown that signal portions representing both early and late interfacial reflections can correlate highly with the SoC and be of predictive value,challenging the more common peak selection methods which focus on the *** later echoes represent greater through-thickness coverage,and are intuitively more information-rich,their presence is not *** waveform treatment offers a more robust approach to correlating acoustic signatures to electrochemical *** is further demonstrated that transformation into the frequency domain can reduce the dimensionality of the problem significantly,while also improving the estimation *** importantly,it is shown that acoustic signatures can be used as sole model inputs to produce highly accurate SoC estimates,without any complementary voltage *** makes the method suitable for applications where redundancy and diversification of SoC estimation approaches is *** is obtained experimentally from a 210 mAh liCoO2/graphite pouch *** estimation errors as low as 0.75%are achieved on a SoC scale of 0-100%.

Electrospinning has been proven as a highly versatile fabrication method for producing nano-structured fibres with controllable morphology,of both the fibres themselves and the void structure of the ***,it is possible to use heteroatom doped polymers or to include catalytic precursors in the electrospinning solution to control the surface properties of the *** factors make it an ideal method for the production of electrodes and flow media for a variety of electrochemical devices,enabling reduction in mass transport and activation overpotentials and therefore increasing ***,the use of biomass as a polymer source has recently gained attention for the ability to embed sustainable principles in the materials of electrochemical devices,complementing their ability to allow an increase in the use of renewable electricity via their *** this review,the historical and recent developments of electrospun materials for application in redox flow batteries,fuel cells,metal air batteries and supercapacitors are thoroughly reviewed,including an overview of the electrospinning process and a guide to best ***,we provide an outlook for the emerging use of this process in the field of electrochemical energy devices with the hope that the combination of tailored microstructure,surface functionality and computer modelling will herald a new era of bespoke functional materials that can significantly improve the performance of the devices in which they are used.

Promoting recovery from severe mental illness: Implications from research on metacognition and metacognitive reflection and insight therapy

research indicates that individuals with schizophrenia recover. recovery, however means different things to different individuals and regardless of what kind of experiences define recovery, the individual diagnosed with the serious mental illness must feel ownership of their recovery. This raises the issue of how mental health services should systematically promote recovery. This paper explores the practical implications for research on metacognition in schizophrenia for this issue. First, we present the integrated model of metacognition, which defines metacognition as the spectrum of activities which allow individual to have available to themselves an integrated sense of self and others as they appraise and respond to the unique challenges they face. Second, we present research suggesting that many with schizophrenia experience deficits in metacognition and that those deficits compromise individuals' abilities to manage their lives and mental health challenges. Third, we discuss a form of psychotherapy inspired by this research, Metacognitive reflection and Insight Therapy which assists individuals to recapture the ability to form integrated ideas about themselves and others and so direct their own recovery. The need for recovery oriented interventions to focus on process and on patient's purposes, assess metacognition and consider the intersubjective contexts in which this occurres is discussed.

Assessment of BrrI Whole Feed Combine Harvester (Model BrrI WCH2021) for Mechanized rice Harvesting in Bangladesh

Agricultural mechanization plays a pivotal role in the transition from subsistence to commercial agriculture, with a particular focus on labour-intensive activities like harvesting. This study assesses the operational characteristics of the BrrI Whole Feed Combine Harvester (Model BrrI WCH2021) at the field level. Developed under the SFMrA project, the harvester’s technical performance and loss assessment were conducted during the Boro 2022 and Aman 2022 seasons in farmer fields in Bangladesh’s rangpur region. The field efficiency of the harvester was determined to be 62.5% and 57.9% in the Boro and Aman seasons, respectively. Fuel consumption rates were recorded at 2.77 l/ha and 2.31 l/ha for the Boro and Aman seasons. The total harvesting losses, encompassing cutter bar, shatter, cylinder, and separation loss, averaged 0.56% and 0.48% in the Boro and Aman seasons, respectively. Mechanized harvesting with the BrrI Whole Feed Combine Harvester significantly reduced paddy losses by 5.81% compared to manual methods. The field evaluation results indicate the combine harvester’s satisfactory performance, highlighting its potential to alleviate labour demands during peak harvesting. The development of the BrrI WCH offers a sustainable solution for rice harvesting mechanization among progressive farmers. It paves the way for the broader adoption of advanced agricultural technology in Bangladesh.
