Seafloor irregularities influence rupture behavior along the subducting slab and in the overriding plate,thus affecting earthquake *** seafloor irregularities increase the likelihood of large earthquakes in a subduction zone remains contested,partially due to focus put either on fault development or on rupture ***,we simulate a subducting slab with a seafloor irregularity and the resulting deformation pattern of the overriding plate using the discrete element *** simulations illustrate the rupture along three major fault systems:megathrust,splay and backthrust *** results show different rupture dimensions of earthquake events varying from tens to ca.140 *** results suggest that the recurrence interval of megathrust events with rupture length of ca.100 km is ca.140 years,which is overall comparable to the paleoseismic records at the Mentawai area of the Sumatran *** further propose the coseismic slip amounts decrease and interseismic slip amounts increase from the surface downwards *** conclude that the presence of seafloor irregularities significantly affects rupture events along the slab as well as fault patterns in the overriding plate.

AIM:To investigate all patients referred to our center with non-responsive celiac disease (NRCd),to establish a cause for their continued ***:We assessed all patients referred to our center with non-responsive celiac disease over an 18-mo *** individuals were investigated to establish the eitiology of their continued *** patients were first seen in clinic where a thorough history and examination were performed with routine blood work including tissue transglutaminase antibody *** were also referred to a specialist gastroenterology dietician to try to identift any lapses in the diet and sources of hidden gluten ingestion.A repeat small intestinal biopsy was also performed and compared to biopsies from the referring hospital where ***,lactulose hydrogen breath testing,pancreolauryl testing and computed tomography scan of the abdomen were undertaken if the symptoms *** clinical progress was followed over a minimum of 2 ***:One hundred and twelve consecutive patients were referred with *** were found not to have celiac disease (Cd).Of the remaining 100 patients,45% were not adequately adhering to a strict gluten-free diet,with 24 (53%) found to be inadvertently ingesting gluten,and 21 (47%) admitting *** colitis was diagnosed in 12% and small bowel bacterial overgrowth in 9%.Refractory Cd was diagnosed in 9%.Three of these were diagnosed with intestinal *** 2 years,78 patients remained well,eight had continuing symptoms,and four had ***:In individuals with NRCd,a remediable cause can be found in 90%:with continued gluten ingestion as the leading *** propose an algorithm for investigation.

Hyperthermia is a promising method to enhance chemo and radiation therapy of breast cancer. In the process of hyperthermia, temperature monitoring is of great importance to assure the effectiveness of treatment. The transmission speed of ultrasound in biomedical tissue changes with temperature. However, when mapping the speed of sound directly to temperature in each pixel as desired for using all speeds of ultrasound data, temperature bipolar edge enhancement artifacts occur near the boundary of two tissues with different speeds of ultrasound. After the analysis of the reasons for causing these artifacts, an optimized method is introduced to rebuild the temperature field image by using the continuity constraint as the judgment criterion. The significant smoothness of the rebuilding image in the transitional area shows that our proposed method can build a more precise temperature image for controlling the medical thermal treatment.

Video capsule endoscopy (VCE) has evolved to become an important tool for the non-invasive examination of the small bowel, which hitherto had been relatively inaccessible to direct visualisation. VCE has been shown to play a role in monitoring the activity of small bowel Crohn’s disease and can be used to assess the response to anti-inflammatory treatment in Crohn’s disease. For those patients with Crohn’s disease who have undergone an intestinal resection, VCE has been assessed as a tool to detect post-operative recurrence. VCE may also aid in the reclassification of patients with a diagnosis of Inflammatory Bowel disease Unclassified to Crohn’s disease. The evolution of colon capsule endoscopy (CCE) has expanded the application of this technology further. The use of CCE to assess the activity of ulcerative colitis has been described. This advance in capsule technology has also fuelled interest in its potential role as a minimally invasive tool to assess the whole of GI tract opening the possibility of its use for the panenteric assessment of Crohn’s disease. VCE is a safe procedure. However, the risk of a retained capsule is higher in patients with suspected or confirmed Crohn’s disease compared with patients having VCE examination for other indications. A retained video capsule is rare after successful passage of a patency capsule which may be utilised to pre-screen patients undergoing VCE. This paper describes the use of VCE in the assessment of inflammatory bowel disease.

Morphological,anatomical,chemical and molecular data suggest that a relatively common lichenicolous coelomycete on Lecanora conizaeoides is conspecific with Phoma cytospora,previously known only from parmelioid lichens,and that further populations on Cladonia and Pertusaria belong to the same *** species is distinguished from Phoma by several taxonomically important characters and obviously represents a previously unrecognized genus,for which the name Briancoppinsia is *** analyses using nuLSU and mtSSU sequences of isolates obtained in pure culture suggest that the new genus belongs to the Arthoniaceae(Arthoniales).This is the first obligate lichenicolous,non-lichenized anamorph confirmed to belong to the Arthoniales based on molecular data.
