Sea-Econet. as a part.of t.e Nat.onal Oceanic & At.ospheric Administ.at.on, MESO program, weat.er-sensor sit. on t.e Coast.l Carolina Universit. campus in Conway Sout. Carolina. Object.ves of t.is st.dy are t. est.blish specific values of winds, land and sea t.mperat.res, precipit.t.on and dew point. associat.d wit. t.e changes induced by passages of t.e Sea Breeze Front. and t. examine differences in t.e st.t.on-t.-st.t.on incarnat.on of t.e Sea Breeze circulat.on. Variabilit. from st.t.on t. st.t.on in t.e nat.re and t.ming of Sea Breeze Front.passage is found t. be a funct.on of relat.ve proximit. t. t.e coast.wit. Sea Breeze Front.passage occurring earliest.at.t.e Nort. Myrt.e Beach sit. (t.e st.t.on at.t.e coast., t.en at.Sumt.r (~100 km inland) and finally Aiken at.>100 km inland. Sat.llit. based est.mat.s of t.e percent.ges of onshore penet.at.on dist.nces from t.e coast.are depict.d. It.is a communit. wide belief t.at.t.e At.ant.c Mult.-decadal Oscillat.on (AMO) and t.e Accumulat.d Cyclone Energy (ACE) are st.ongly posit.vely correlat.d and in lock-st.p for t.e charact.rizat.on of a t.opical cyclone (t.)—hurricane season;including how many named t.s will form and how many will become hurricanes and major hurricanes [1]-[4]. In t.is paper, we decompose t.e AMO and ACE t.me series int. t.eir int.rnal modes of variabilit. using t.e Hilbert.Huang t.ansform REF _Ref386094582 \r \h [5] and t.e Ensemble Empirical Modal Decomposit.on (EEMD) REF _Ref386094585 \r \h [6], and look int. t.e relat.onships t.at.exist.bet.een t.e individual corresponding modes of t.e AMO and t.e ACE. We t.en evaluat. t.e degrees of frequency domain correlat.ons bet.een t.e int.rnal modes of variabilit. of t.e AMO and t.e ACE across t.e ent.re record lengt. t.me series. t.e 2013 Nort. At.ant.c Hurricane Season, which had been predict.d t. be “above normal”, wit. an ACE est.mat.d t. be bet.een 122 and 138 by t.e Nat.onal Oceanic & At.ospheric Administ.at.on (NOAA), t.rned out.t. be one of t.e quiet.st.on record. t.e act.al 2013 observed ACE was only 33 (unit. 104 kn2) or 29% of t.e 65 year (1948-2012) average of 103 (wit. a median of 89.5) and is t.e 5t. lowest.value since 1950. Following t.e visual correlat.ons bet.een t.e ACE and t.e AMO in t.e past. and assuming past.is prologue t. t.e fut.re, t.e “above normal” forecast.of t.e ACE led t. a t.opical cyclone communit. wide forecast.of a highly act.ve 2013 hurricane season. So why t.e bust.d 2013 forecast. t.is st.dy will address t.e possible reasons.

t.e report.d overall rise in global surface t.mperat.res since t.e lat.er 19t. Cent.ry is viewed largely as an at.ospheric phenomena. However, we show t.at.t.e global ocean is an import.nt.component.in det.rmining global surface t.mperat.res. Via an empirical, mat.emat.cal met.odology, we reveal t.e int.insic modes of variabilit. of planet.ry t.mperat.res over t.e past.160 years, and find periods of cooling and warming, wit. mult.ple modes of variabilit.;seasonal, int.r-annual, decadal, mult.-decadal and an overall warming t.end. Our calculat.d overall rat. of warming differs significant.y from t.e est.mat. of t.e Int.rgovernment.l Program on Climat. Change, as well as t.e Nongovernment.l Panel on Climat. Change. We also invest.gat. t.e modes of variabilit. of recognized climat. fact.rs, and find a previously unreport.d 140 year cycle in t.o climat. syst.m dat. set.. A relat.vely large amplit.de 60 - 70 year cycle mode appears in all of t.e climat. fact.rs, and may be relat.d t. t.e t.me scale of t.e oceanic Meridional Overt.rning Circulat.on. t.is and ot.er oceanic feat.res may modulat. global surface t.mperat.res. An empirical relat.onship bet.een fossil fuel burning and t.e global surface t.mperat.re anomaly t.me series overall t.end emerges from our reduct.on of t.e non-st.t.onary, non-linear dat..

Background: t.e opt.mal t.me t. closure of a newborn wit. a myelomeningocele has been t.e focus of a number of evaluat.ons. t.e t.ming of primary surgery has received significant.at.ent.on due t. it. relat.onship t. repair-sit. infect.on t.at.can lead t. increased morbidit. and prolonged hospit.l st.ys. It.is on t.is basis t.at.recommendat.ons have ut.lized 48 - 72 hours post.birt. as ideal t.me of closure. t.is is not.only prevent.infect.on at.t.e sit. but.also prevent.vent.iculit.s and neural st.uct.re damage. We t.erefore, hypot.esized an increase in wound infect.on rat.s in t.ose pat.ent. wit. delays in myelomeningocele repair. Met.ods: We ret.ospect.vely reviewed t.e records of 103 children wit. myelomeningocele t.eat.d bet.een 2016 and 2023. At.discharge t.e pat.ent. were followed up at.t.e post.operat.ve clinic visit.2 weeks lat.r. Children were assigned t. 1 of 2 groups, t.ose who underwent.primary neurosurgical repair wit.in 72 hours of delivery (Group 1) and t.ose undergoing repair aft.r 72 hours (Group 2). We compared t.e infect.on rat.s. Result.: 103 children who underwent.myelomeningocele repair were ident.fied, wit. a median t.me from birt. t. t.eat.ent.of 1 day. Eight.(7.8 %) pat.ent. were not.d t. have post.repair surgical sit. complicat.ons. t.ere was no significant.difference in rat.s of infect.on bet.een Group 1 and Group 2 repair t.mes. t.e presence of infect.on was associat.d increased lengt. of st.y when compared t. neonat.s wit.out.infect.on. Conclusion: In children wit. myelomeningocele, t.e t.ming of primary neurosurgical repair appears not.t. have a significant.impact.on surgical sit. infect.on. Closure of t.e spinal lesion wit.in t.e first.72 hours of life may be more favorable for neural damage prevent.on. t.ese result. suggest.t.at.early myelomeningocele repair may not.impart.significant.y on t.e rat. of wound-sit. infect.on.

Eight.marker-assist.d select.on (MAS) backcross-derived bush bean lines wit. red seed t.pes, alongside t.o checks, were evaluat.d in a randomized complet. block design replicat.d t.o t.mes in five locat.ons for t.ree consecut.ve crop-growing seasons in 2021 and 2022. t.e st.dy aimed t. ident.fy lines wit. bot. high st.ble yields and enhanced resist.nce t. ant.racnose disease for pot.nt.al release and ut.lizat.on in fut.re bean variet.l development.in Uganda. Agronomic t.ait., including days t. 50% flowering, days t. 90% physiological mat.rit., seed yield, seed yield component., and ant.racnose disease react.on under nat.ral infest.t.on were assessed. t.e response t. ant.racnose disease was furt.er assessed using six isolat.s of Collet.t.ichum lindemut.ianum represent.ng six different.races. Result. indicat.d t.at.t.e agronomic performances of t.e MAS backcross-derived bush bean lines were st.t.st.cally comparable t. t.e recurrent.parent.NABE14. Specifically, six lines exhibit.d st.t.st.cally equal t. or higher performance t.an NABE14 in t.rms of seed yield, t.t.l number of seeds and number of pods per plant. t.e combined analysis of variance for seed yield showed significant.(p Co-42 and Co-5 ant.racnose resist.nce genes in t.e derived line. In conclusion, UGKt.B157-4, ident.fied as t.e best.performing and st.ble genot.pe, demonst.at.s promise for release and use in fut.re bean variet.l development.in Uganda, offering a combinat.on of high yields and enhanced ant.racnose disease resist.nce. t.e st.dy provides valuable insight. int. t.e pot.nt.al of Marker-Assist.d Backcrossing in improving common bean variet.es in t.e region.
