The paper analyzes power spectral density (PSD) of orthogonal pulse-based signals for time hopping ultra wideband (TH-UWB) systems. Our extensive studies show that the PSD of these signals not only depends on the time dithering code and the modulation schemes, but also on the energy spectral density (ESD) of orthogonal pulses. The different order orthogonal pulses provide different ESD which changes the shape of continuous spectral component with symbols. We show that orthogonal pulse-based signals reduce the dynamic range of amplitude of discrete spectral components. Further, we reduce the dynamic range by adopting longer TH code over orthogonal pulse-based signals. As a result, UWB system performance improves with average transmitted power. The theoretical analysis of PSD of orthogonal pulse-based TH-UWB signal is provided in details and verified through simulation results.

Using a low coherence interferometry （LCI） model, a comparison of broadband single-Gaussian and multi-Gaussian light sources has been undertaken. For single-Gaussian sources, the axial resolution improves with the source bandwidth, confirming the coherence length relation that the resolution for single Gaussian sources improves with increasing spectral bandwidth. However, narrow bandwidth light sources result in interferograms with overlapping strata peaks and the loss of individual strata information. For multiple-Gaussian sources with the same bandwidth, spectral side lobes increase, reducing A-scan reliability to show accurate layer information without eliminating the side lobes. The simulations show the conditions needed for the resolution of strata information for broadband light sources using both single and multiple Gaussian models. The potential to use the model to study optical coherence tomography （OCT） light sources including super luminescent diodes （SLDs）, as reviewed in this paper, as well as optical delay lines and sample structures could better characterize these LCI and OCT elements. Forecasting misinformation in the interferogram may allow preliminary corrections. With improvement to the LCI-OCT model, more applications are envisaged.

Background:Resistance exercise has numerous,well-documented benefits on the health and functional performance of older ***,little information exists on the affective responses to resistance exercise in this *** affective responses can predict continued exercise behavior,examining if and how they differ between resistance exercise intensities and frequencies in older adults may provide important data to improve resistance exercise ***:We monitored the affective responses of older adults when performing high-velocity,low-load(HVLL)or low-velocity,high-load(LVHL)resistance exercise once or twice weekly.A total of 40 moderately to highly active,but resistance-exercise naïve,older adults(60-79 years)completed 1 of 4 randomly assigned progressive resistance exercise conditions:HVLL once weekly(HVLL1:n=10),HVLL twice weekly(HVLL2:n=10),LVHL once weekly(LVHL1:n=10),or LVHL twice weekly(LVHL2:n=10).The Physical Activity Affect Scale,Felt Arousal Scale,Feeling Scale,rating of perceived exertion,Visual Analog Scale,and the Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale were used to assess enjoyment and affective ***:The results from Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale(out of 35)suggest that all exercise conditions were largely and similarly enjoyable to older adults(HVLL1:30.9±2.4;LVHL1:31.9±3.6;HVLL2:30.9±3.5;LVHL2:30.2±3.7)despite greater fatigue(p=0.033;ηp^2p=0.22)and perceived workload(p=0.042;ηp^2=0.20)in LVHL(results from Visual Analog Scale).Conclusion:Moderately to highly physically active older adults may tolerate higher intensities of resistance exercise performed once or twice weekly without experiencing a negative impact on ***,the role that supervision and social interaction played in shaping the participants’responses is unclear.

Monckton of Brenchley et al.(Sci Bull60:122–135, 2015)(hereafter called M15) use a simple energy balance model to estimate climate response. They select parameters for this model based on semantic arguments, leading to different results from those obtained in physics-based studies. M15 did not validate their model against observations, but instead created synthetic test data based on subjective assumptions. We show that M15 systematically underestimate warming: since 1990, most years were warmer than their modelled upper limit. During 2000–2010, RMS error and bias are approximately 150 % and 350 % larger than for the CMIP5 median, using either the Berkeley Earth or Cowtan and Way surface temperature data. We show that this poor performance can be explained by a logical flaw in theparameter selection and that selected parameters contradict observational estimates. M15 also conclude that climate has a near-instantaneous response to forcing, implying no net energy imbalance for the Earth. This contributes to their low estimates of future warming and is falsified by Argo float measurements that show continued ocean heating and therefore a sustained energy imbalance. M15's estimates of climate response and future global warming are not consistent with measurements and so cannot be considered credible.

Commercial manufacture of propylene oxide and epichlorohydrin（epi） by chlorination and hydration of propylene,results in the production of 1,2,3-trichloropropane（TCP）,an undesirable side product,hi order to recover halohydrin from TCP and recycle into the epi process,a Rhodococcus rhodochrous slrain was isolated by cblorocarbon-enrichrnent technique.A haloalkane dehalogenase was purified from this bacteria which catalyzed the hydrolytic dehalogenation of TCP to dichlorohalohydrin（DCH）.However,the activity of mis enzyme was too low for recovery of DCH from TCP（turnover of 0.15/second）.In addition,the enzyme was competitively inhibited by *** different Directed Evolution methods were applied to the dehalogenase gene in order to improve the *** resulted in obtaining a thermostable enzyme as well as a 15-fold improvement of catalytic ***,biopanning of DNA-libraries from 576 different environmental samples（from tropical jungles,arid deserts,agricultural fields,contaminated waste sites,sediments from lakes,rivers,streams and marine environments） yielded25-full length and 27 partial *** analysis of the sequences revealed relationship spread across all seven known *** of the newly discovered genes were shown to have different properties such as:（a） Improved catalytic activity *** relative to the wild type enzyme（b）Activity against different analogs of TCP（c） Much reduced feedback inhibition by DCH and（d） Different *** of biopanning and Directed Evolution is a powerful tool for rapid discovery new genes and improvement of enzyme functions for production of industrial products from various starting materials.

Invasive micropapillary carcinomas (IMPC) of the breast account for less than 2% of all breast cancers and have been recently described as luminal B carcinomas. CD24, CD44, ALDH1 and EZH2 are commonly used as stem-cell markers that display differential expression as a function of stage and molecular type, but their pattern of expression according to this rare histological type remains poorly defined and unknown for EZH2. We assessed expression of these markers in a series of 28 micropapillary breast carcinomas and compared the results with those obtained in a series of luminal A (27 cases) and B (34 cases) invasive carcinomas not otherwise specified (IC-NST). CD24 and CD44 were expressed in most cases. However, CD24 was expressed at the inverted apical membrane in 85% of invasive micropapillary carcinoma and at the apical pole of gland-forming cells in 45% of luminal A (p-val = 6.8 × 10-4) and 13% of luminal B cases (p-val = 1.1 × 10-7). ALDH1 was expressed in the stroma in most tumors, but in only 25%, 11% and 15% in epithelial cells of IMPC, luminal A and B IC-NST, respectively. Nuclear expression of EZH2 was not observed in luminal A tumors, and was detected in 35% (12/34) of luminal B carcinomas (p-val = 6.1 × 10-3) and only 4% (1/28) of invasive micropapillary carcinomas. This series shows that invasive micropapillary carcinomas harbor a CD24-positive inverted apical pole associated with weak EZH2 expression, phenotypical characteristics that distinguish this entity from other luminal carcinomas.
