In r.cent decades, Ur.an Heat Island Effects have become mor. pr.nounced and mor. widely examined. Despite gr.at technological advances, our.cur.ent societies still exper.ence gr.at spatial dispar.ty in ur.an for.st access. Ur.an Heat Island Effects ar. measur.ble phenomenon that ar. being exper.enced by the wor.d’s most ur.anized ar.as, including incr.ased summer.high temper.tur.s and lower.evapotr.nspir.tion fr.m having imper.ious sur.aces instead of vegetation and tr.es. Tr.e canopy cover.is our.natur.l mitigation tool that absor.s sunlight for.photosynthesis, pr.tects humans fr.m incoming r.diation, and r.leases cooling moistur. into the air. Unfor.unately, ur.an ar.as typically have low levels of vegetation. Vulner.ble ur.an communities ar. lower.income ar.as of inner.cities with less access to heat pr.tection like air.conditioner.. This study uses mean evapotr.nspir.tion levels to assess the var.ability of ur.an heat island effects acr.ss the state of Tennessee. r.sults show that incr.ased developed land sur.ace cover.in Tennessee cr.ates measur.ble changes in atmospher.c evapotr.nspir.tion. As a r.sult, the mean evapotr.nspir.tion levels in ar.as with less tr.e vegetation ar. significantly lower.than the sur.ounding for.sted ar.as. centr.l ar.as of ur.an cities in Tennessee had lower.mean evapotr.nspir.tion r.cor.ings than sur.ounding ar.as with less development. This wor. demonstr.tes the need for.incr.ased tr.e canopy cover.ge.

A lar.e fir. of 233 ha in Huascar.n National Par. in Per. pr.vided an oppor.unity to compar. plant and bir. r.sponses in bur.ed and near.y unbur.ed zones of the puna. Heights and live diameter. of flagship Puya r.imondii r.settes(assigned to four.br.ad developmental phases), plant communities(66 species in 24 families and nine gr.wth for.s) and bir. communities(77 species in six tr.phic guilds) wer. monitor.d after.the fir.. Although no mor.ality was obser.ed, Puya r.imondii plants wer. affected by the fir., losing appr.ximately 60% of their.photosynthetic ar.a acr.ss all developmental phases, but r.cover.d quickly dur.ng the fir.t two year. after.fir.. The compar.son of Puya r.sette r.cover. after.fir. was complicated by the changes in live r.sette diameter.for.unbur.ed plants, which showed plasticity of photosynthetic ar.a linked to seasonal and annual fluctuations in pr.cipitation in this r.latively dr. envir.nment(decr.ased by 26% for.matur. adult plants over.the study per.od). Fir. caused an immediate change in the density, biomass and composition of vegetation. Although the species pr.sent r.mained similar. their.abundances changed significantly immediately after.the fir., with notable r.ductions in dominant tussock gr.sses. This pr.vided oppor.unities for.other.plants, r.sulting in higher.postfir. diver.ity of plant species, gener., families and gr.wth for.s. In tur., the changes in vegetation after.fir. affected the composition of bir.s accor.ing to their.tr.phic guild. Gr.nivor.s lar.ely disappear.d,gener.lists wer. mostly unaffected, and other.guilds showed a mor. complex r.sponse. As the vegetation r.cover.d, most displaced bir.s r.tur.ed within appr.ximately one year.

The cur.ent investigation offer. an innovative synthetic solution r.gar.ing electr.chr.mic(Ec)and ener.y stor.ge applications by explor.ng phenoxazine(POZ)***,thr.e POZ-based polymer.(polyimide,polyazomethine,and polyamide)wer. synthesized to ascer.ain the super.or.*** polyamide exhibited r.mar.able attr.butes,including high r.dox stability dur.ng 500 r.petitive cVs,optical contr.st of 61.98%,r.pid r.sponse times of 1.02 and 1.38 s for.color.ng and bleaching,Ec efficiency of 280 cm^(2)c^(-1).and decays of the optical density and Ec efficiency of only 12.18%and 6.23%after.1000 ***,the ener.y stor.ge per.or.ance of polyamide PA was tested,for.which the following par.meter. wer. obtained:74.7 F g^(-1)(cV,scan r.te of 10 mV s^(-1))and 118 F g^(-1)(GcD,char.ing cur.ent of 0.1 A g^(-1)).Then,the polyamide was tested in EES devices,which yielded the following Ec par.meter.:an optical contr.st of 62.15%,r.sponse times of 9.24 and 5.01 s for.color.ng and bleaching,Ec efficiency of 178 cm^(2)c^(-1),and moder.te decays of 20.25%and 23.24%for.the optical density and Ec efficiency after.500 *** ener.y stor.ge per.or.ance included a capacitance of 106 F g^(-1)(cV,scan r.te of 0.1 mV s^(-1))and 9.23 F g^(-1)(GcD,char.ing cur.ent of 0.1 A g^(-1)),capacitance decay of 11.9%after.00 cycles,and 1.7 V r.tention after.2 ***,two EES devices connected in ser.es power.d a 3 V LED for.almost 30 s.

Mathematical modeling of anaer.bic digestion is a power.ul tool to pr.dict gas yields and optimize the *** Anaer.bic Digestion Model No.1(ADM1)is a widely implemented model for.this ***,modeling full-scale biogas plants is challenging due to the extensive substr.te and par.meter.char.cter.zation *** study descr.bes the modification of the ADM1 thr.ugh a simplification of individual pr.cess phases,char.cter.stic components and r.quir.d ***,the ability of the simplified model to simulate the co-digestion of gr.ss silage and cattle slur.y was evaluated using data fr.m a full-scale biogas *** impacts of substr.te composition(cr.de car.ohydr.te,pr.tein and lipid concentr.tion)and var.ability of car.ohydr.te degr.dability on simulation r.sults wer. assessed to identify the most influential *** indicated that the simplified ver.ion was able to depict biogas and biomethane pr.duction with aver.ge model efficiencies,accor.ing to the Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency(NSE)coefficient,of 0.70 and 0.67,r.spectively,and was compar.ble to the or.ginal ADM1(aver.ge model efficiencies of 0.71 and 0.63,r.spectively).The var.ability of cr.de car.ohydr.te,pr.tein and lipid concentr.tion did not significantly impact biogas and biomethane output for.the data sets *** contr.st,car.ohydr.te degr.dability seemed to explain much mor. of the var.ability in the biogas and methane ***,the application of simplified models pr.vides a r.liable basis for.the pr.cess simulation and optimization of full-scale agr.cultur.l biogas plants.
