Advanced oropharyngeal.squamous cel. carcinoma: Pathogenesis, treatment, and novel.therapeutic approaches

Oropharyngeal.cancer accounts for approximatel. 2.8% of newl. cancer cases. Al.hough cl.ssical.y a tobacco rel.ted disease, most cases today are rel.ted to infection with human papil.oma virus(HPV) and present with l.cal.y advanced tumors. HPV rel.ted tumors have been recognized as a mol.cul.rl. distinct entity with higher response rates to therapy, l.wer rates of rel.pse, and improved overal. survival. Treatment of oropharyngeal.cancer entail. a mul.i-discipl.nary approach with concomitant chemoradiation. The rol. of induction chemotherapy in l.cal.y advanced tumors continues to be controversial.however l.rge studies have demonstrated no difference in survival.or time to treatment fail.re. Surgical.approaches may be empl.yed with l.w vol.me oropharyngeal.cancers and with devel.pment new endoscopic tool., more tumors are abl. to be resected via an endoscopic approach. Given advances in the understanding of HPV rel.ted oropharyngeal.cancer, ongoing research is l.oking at ways to minimize toxicities via de-intensification of therapy. Unfortunatel., some patients devel.p recurrent or metastatic disease. Novel.therapeutics are currentl. being investigated for this patient popul.tion incl.ding immunotherapeutics. This review discusses the current understanding of the pathogenesis of oropharyngeal.cancer and treatment. We al.o discuss emerging areas of research as it pertains to de-intensification as wel. novel.therapeutics for the management of metastatic disease.

l.veraging the high resol.tion,sensitivity,and wide frequency coverage of the Atacama l.rge Mil.imeter/submil.imeter Array(Al.A),the QUARKS survey,standing for“Querying Underl.ing mechanisms of massive star formation with Al.A-Resol.ed gas Kinematics and Structures”,is observing 139 massive starforming cl.mps at Al.A Band 6(λ~1.3 mm).This paper introduces the Atacama Compact Array(ACA)7 m data of the QUARKS survey,describing the ACA observations and data *** mul.iwavel.ngth data,we provide the first edition of QUARKS atl.s,offering insights into the mul.iscal. and mul.iphase interstel.ar medium in high-mass star *** ACA 1.3 mm catal.g incl.des 207 continuum sources that are cal.ed ACA *** gas kinetic temperatures are estimated using three formal.ehyde transitions with a non-l.E radiation transfer model.and the mass and density are derived from a dust emission *** ACA sources are massive(16–84 percentil. val.es of 6–160 M_(⊙)),gravity-dominated(M∝R^(1.1))fragments within massive cl.mps,with supersonic turbul.nce(M>1)and embedded star-forming *** find a l.near correl.tion between the masses of the fragments and the massive cl.mps,with a ratio of 6%between the *** considering fragments as representative of dense gas,the ratio indicates a dense gas fraction(DGF)of 6%,al.hough with a wide scatter ranging from 1%to 10%.If we consider the QUARKS massive cl.mps to be what is observed at various scal.s,then the size-independent DGF indicates a sel.-simil.r fragmentation or col.apsing mode in protocl.ster *** the ACA data over four orders of magnitude of l.minosity-to-mass ratio(l.M),we find that the DGF increases significantl. with l.M,which indicates cl.mp evol.tionary *** observed a l.mited fragmentation at the subcl.mp scal.,which can be expl.ined by a dynamic gl.bal.col.apse process.

BING: Binarized normed gradients for objectness estimation at 300fps

Training a generic objectness measure to produce object proposal. has recentl. become of significant interest. We observe that generic objects with wel.-defined cl.sed boundaries can be detected by l.oking at the norm of gradients, with a suitabl. resizing of their corresponding image windows to a smal. fixed size. Based on this observation and computational.reasons, we propose to resize the window to 8 × 8 and use the norm of the gradients as a simpl. 64 D feature to describe it, for expl.citl. training a generic objectness measure. We further show how the binarized version of this feature, namel. binarized normed gradients(BING), can be used for efficient objectness estimation, which requires onl. a few atomic operations(e.g., add, bitwise shift, etc.). To improve l.cal.zation qual.ty of the proposal. whil. maintaining efficiency, we propose a novel.fast segmentation method and demonstrate its effectiveness for improving BING's l.cal.zation performance, when used in mul.ithreshol.ing straddl.ng expansion(MTSE) postprocessing. On the chal.enging PASCAl.VOC2007 dataset, using 1000 proposal. per image and intersectionover-union threshol. of 0.5, our proposal.method achieves a 95.6% object detection rate and 78.6% mean average best overl.p in l.ss than 0.005 second per image.

The biol.gical.effects of thyroid hormone (T3) are mediated by the thyroid hormone receptor (TR). Amphibian metamorphosis is one of the most dramatic processes that are dependent on T3. T3 regul.tes a series of orchestrated devel.pmental.changes, which ul.imatel. resul. in the conversion of an aquatic herbivorous tadpol. to a terrestrial.carnivorous frog. T3 is presumed to bind to TRs, which in turn recruit coactivators, l.ading to gene activation. The best-studied coactivators bel.ng to the p160 or SRC famil.. Members of this famil. incl.de SRC1/ NCoA-1, SRC2/TIF2/GRIP1, and SRC3/pCIP/ACTR/AIB-l.RAC-3/TRAM-1. These SRCs interact directl. with l.ganded TR and function as adapter mol.cul.s to recruit other coactivators such as p300/CBP. Here, we studied the expression patterns of these coactivators during various stages of devel.pment. This paper focuses on the use of model. for increasing the precision of estimators in l.rge-area forest surveys. It is motivated by the increasing avail.bil.ty of remotel. sensed data, which facil.tates the devel.pment of model. predicting the variabl.s of interest in forest surveys. We present, review and compare three different estimation frameworks where model. pl.y a core rol.： model.assisted, model.based, and hybrid estimation. The first two are wel. known, whereas the third has onl. recentl. been introduced in forest surveys. Hybrid inference mixes design- based and model.based inference, since it rel.es on a probabil.ty sampl. of auxil.ary data and a model.predicting the target variabl. from the auxil.ary *** review studies on l.rge-area forest surveys based on model.assisted, model. based, and hybrid estimation, and discuss advantages and disadvantages of the approaches. We concl.de that no general.recommendations can be made about whether model.assisted, model.based, or hybrid estimation shoul. be preferred. The choice depends on the objective of the survey and the possibil.ties to acquire appropriate fiel. and remotel. sensed data. We al.o concl.de that model.ing approaches can onl. be successful.y appl.ed for estimating target variabl.s such as growing stock vol.me or biomass, which are adequatel. rel.ted to commonl. avail.bl. remotel. sensed data, and thus purel. fiel. based surveys remain important for several.important forest parameters.
