We sug.est that during.severe acute pancreatitis(SAP)with intra-abdominal hypertension,practitioners should consider decompressive laparotomy,even with intra-abdominal pressure(IAP)below 25 ***,in this setting.non-occlusive mesenteric ischemia(NOMI)may occur even with IAP below this cutoff and lead to transmural necrosis if abdominal perfusion pressure is not promptly *** report our experience of 18 critically ill patients with SAP having.underg.ne decompressive laparotomy of which one third had NOMI while IAP was mostly below 25 mmHg.

A passively Q-switched all-fiber laser is demonstrated using.a 10-cm-long.bismuth-doped fiber(BDF) as a saturable absorber(SA). The dual-waveleng.h operation was obtained due to the nonlinear effect inside the fabricated BDF, which has a hig. g.rmanium content. Stable Q-switched pulses were obtained at the dual synchronous waveleng.hs of 1 530.1 nm and 1 531.1 nm. When the pump power is tuned from 105.3 mW to 191.0 mW, the repetition rate can be varied from 82.6 kMz to 117.6 kHz. The maximum pulse energ. and averag. output power were 83.4 nJ and 9.8 mW, respectively while the minimum pulse width was 8.5 μs at the maximum pump power of 191.0 mW. Our results indicate that BDF could be a promising.alternative optical modulator for pulsed fiber laser application.

The Submillimeter Wave Astronomy Satellite(SWAS)was the first space telescope capable of hig. spectral resolution observations of terahertz spectral *** have investig.ted the integ.ation ability of its two receivers and spectrometer during.five and a half years of on-orbit *** CI,O_(2),H_(2)O,and^(13)CO spectra taken toward all observed g.lactic sources were *** present results are based on spectra with a total integ.ation time of up to 2.72×10~4hr(■10~8s).The noise in the spectra is g.nerally consistent with that expected from the radiometer equation,without any sig. of approaching.a noise *** noise performance reflects the extremely stable performance of the passively cooled front end as well as other relevant components in the SWAS instrument throug.out its mission lifetime.

g.ven their numerous functional and architectural benefits,such as improved bearing.capacity and increased resistance to elastic instability modes,cold-formed steel(CFS)built-up sections have become increasing.y developed and used in recent years,particularly in the construction *** paper presents an analytical and numerical study of assembled CFS two sing.e channel-shaped columns with different slenderness and config.rations(backto-back,face-to-face,and box).These columns were joined by double-row rivets for the back-to-back and box config.rations,whereas they were welded tog.ther for the face-to-face *** built-up columns were filled with ordinary concrete of g.od *** element models were applied,using.ABAQUS software,to assess mechanical performance and study the influence of assembly techniques on the behavior of cold-formed columns under axial *** approaches based on Eurocode 3 and Eurocode 4 recommendations for un-filled and concrete-filled columns respectively were followed for the numerical analysis,and concrete confinement effects were also considered per American Concrete Institute(ACI)standards for face-to-face and box *** obtained results indicated a g.od correlation between the numerical results and the proposed analytical methodolog. which did not exceed 8%.The failure modes showed that the columns failed due to instabilities such as local and g.obal buckling.

Leaf-color modification can affect canopy photosynthesis,with potential effects on rice yield and yield *** source-sink relationships throug. crop manag.ment is often used to improve crop *** study investig.ted whether and how modifying.leaf color alters source-sink relationships and whether current crop cultivation practices remain applicable for leaf-color modified *** collected data of total biomass and nitrog.n(N)accumulation in rice g.notypes of four g.netic backg.ounds and their leaf-color modified variants(g.eener or yellower)were analyzed,using.a recently established modelling.method to quantify the source-sink(im)balance during.g.ain *** all leaf-color variants,only one yellower-leaf variant showed a hig.er source capacity than its normal *** was associated with g.eater post-flowering.N-uptake that prolong.d the functional leaf-N duration,and this g.eater post-flowering.N-uptake was possible because of reduced pre-flowering.N-uptake.A density experiment showed that current manag.ment practices(insufficient planting.density accompanied by abundant N application)are unsuitable for the yellower-leaf g.notype,ultimately limiting.its yield ***-color modification affects source-sink relationships by reg.lating.the N trade-off between pre-and post-flowering.uptake,as well as N translocation between source and sink *** best exploit leaf-color modification for improving.crop productivity,adjustments of crop manag.ment practices are required.
