Hypolipidemic and anti-atherosclerogenic effects of aqueous extract of Ipomoea batatas leaves in diet-induced hypercholesterolemic rats

Objective:Ipomoea batatas(L.)*** a food plant used in African traditional medicine to treat cardiovascular diseases and related *** assessed the hypolipidemic and anti-atherosclerogenic properties of the aqueous extract of *** leaves in a rat model of diet-induced ***:Hypercholesterolemia was induced in male Wistar rats by exclusive feeding with a cholesterolenriched(1%)standard diet for four ***,rats were treated once daily(per os)with *** extract at doses of 400,500 and 600 mg/kg or with atorvastatin(2 mg/kg),for four *** treatment,animals were observed for another four weeks and then *** were excised and processed for histopathological studies,and blood glucose level and lipid profile were ***:Hypercholesterolemic animals experienced a 21.5%faster increase in body weight,significant increases in blood glucose and blood lipids(148.94%triglycerides,196.97%high-density lipoprotein cholesterol,773.04%low-density lipoprotein cholesterol,148.93%very low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and 210.42%total cholesterol),and increases in aorta thickness and atherosclerotic plaque sizes compared to rats fed standard *** of hypercholesterolemic rats with the extract mitigated these alterations and restored blood glucose and blood lipid levels to normocholesterolemic ***:Our findings suggest that *** leaves have hypolipidemic and anti-atherosclerogenic properties and justify their use in traditional medicine.

Hatha yoga training improves standing balance but not gait in Parkinson's disease

Background and purpose:Complementary therapies,such as yoga,have been proposed to address gait and balance problems in Parkinson's disease(PD).However,the effects of yoga on gait and static balance have not been studied systematically in people with PD(PWP).Here we evaluated the effects of a 12-week long Hatha yoga intervention on biomechanical parameters of gait and posture in ***:We employed a pilot randomized controlled trial design with two groups of mild-to-moderate PWP(immediate treatment,waitlist control;N?10 each;Mean Hoehn and Yahr score=2 for each group).Baseline Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale(UPDRS)motor scores,and gait and postural kinematics including postural sway path length,cadence,walking speed,and turning time were *** immediate treatment group received a 60-min Hatha yoga training twice a week for 12 weeks,while the waitlisted control group received no *** 12 weeks,gait and postural kinematics were assessed(post-test for treatment group and second-baseline for waitlist group).Then,the waitlist group received the same yoga training and was evaluated ***:After Hatha yoga training,UPDRS motor scores improved with an 8-point mean decrease which is considered as a moderate clinically important change for mild-moderate *** path length during stance decreased significantly(mean reduction:-34.4%).No significant between-group differences or improvements in gait kinematics were ***:This study showed that a 12-week Hatha yoga training can improve static balance in *** found no evidence that it systematically improves gait performance in PWP.

详细评述了剪切带运动学和内部几何学研究的新进展。剪切带内的递进变形一般为三斜对称,单斜剪切带(包括简单剪切带)是特例情形。理论模拟表明,如同许多天然剪切带中所见到的,在三斜剪切带中,拉伸线理的方位可从近水平到平行于倾向连续变化。过去一般将拉伸线理的方向当作剪切运动方向的做法是以简单剪切模式为基础的,不适合于一般剪切带。在三斜剪切带中,拉伸线理和剪切方向之间不存在简单关系。然而,C面上的韧性滑动擦痕平行于剪切方向发育,是剪切方向的可靠标志。因此,在剪切带运动学解释中区分韧性滑动擦痕与拉伸线理非常重要。

CO_2 Capture by Vacuum Swing Adsorption Using f200 and Sorbead WS as Protective Pre-layers

In order to solve the water issues when 13X zeolite was applied to capture CO 2 from wet flue gas by vacuum swing adsorption process, multi-layered adsorption system was considered regarding activated alumina f200 and silica gel based Sorbead WS as pre-layer materials. LBET (extended Largmuir-BET) model and extended CMMS (cooperative multimolecular sorption) equation were simulated respectively to describe water loading on f200 and Sorbead WS. The two equations can be well added into our in-house simulator to simulate double-layered CO 2 -VSA (vacuum swing adsorption) process. Results indicated that water can be successfully stopped in pre-layers with a good CO 2 capture performance.

Background:The epidemiological data on post-burn growth,body composition and motor devel-opment is ambiguous and *** aim of this systematic review was therefore to summarize the current body of evidence on post-burn growth,body composition and motor development in ***:A literature search was conducted in PubMed,EMBASE and Web of Science up to March *** considered observational studies that reported(1)metrics on weight,height,body composition,bone mineral content,bone mineral density or motor development,in(2)paediatric burn patients and(3)published in a peer-reviewed ***:A total of 16 studies were *** of the included studies used quantitative methods,but with differing methodology:prospective cohort studies(n=8),retrospective chart reviews(n=3),case-control studies(n=2),cross sectional studies(n=2)and a retrospective cohort study(n=1).When combined,the included studies represented 2022 paediatric burn patients,with a mean age of 7.7(±3.2)*** average burn sizewas 52.8%(±12.7)of the total body surface *** outcome measures included weight(n=12),height(n=7),muscular strength(n=4),bone mineral content(n=5),bone mineral density(n=5),body mass index(n=3),fat mass(n=5),lean body mass(n=7)and fine and gross motor development(n=1).Conclusions:following an initial decline,patients’growth and motor development started to recover during the first or second year ***,burns may have a profound and prolonged effect on the paediatric burn patients’muscular strength,bone mineral content and lean body *** should be noted that the vast majority of studies included only patients with burns covering≥30%total body surface *** evidence presented in this review may thus not be representative of the whole paediatric burn population.

Preferences in stapes surgery among American otological society otologists

Muglad盆地是中非裂谷系在前寒武系结晶基底上发育的大型裂谷盆地,经历了早白垩世、晚白垩世和古近纪3期裂谷发育阶段。通过选取盆地北部不同构造位置3口探井不同层位的岩屑样品,开展磷灰石裂变径迹和镜质体反射率测试,进行构造-热演化历史分析。研究结果表明,盆地存在两期冷却事件,但不同构造单元的演化史有较大的差异。第1期冷却事件发生在晚白垩世早期,对应区域上的"圣通期挤压事件",主要在Tomat隆起表现明显;第2裂谷期末期是盆地区域冷却事件(古新世末期—始新世),造成Nugara坳陷中央凸起形成和Tomat隆起进一步发育,也控制了盆地内油气藏的形成和分布。盆地第1裂谷期和第2裂谷期的古地温梯度只有2.00~2.40℃/hm,第3裂谷期盆地深部地幔隆起发育、岩浆活动增强、地温梯度升高,指示了盆地由白垩纪期间的"被动裂谷"演变为古近纪的"主动裂谷"。第3裂谷期末期的剥蚀作用不明显,对油气的生成和聚集影响不大或没有影响。
