This paper reports on high-performance waveguide-integrated germanium photodiodes for optical communications applications.200 mm wafers and production tools were used to fabricate the *** over 97%were obtained for three different compact photodiodes(10×10μm and intrinsic region width of 0.5,0.7,and 1μm)within the same batch of three *** photodiodes exhibit low dark currents under reverse bias with median values of 74,62,and 61 nA for intrinsic widths of 0.5,0.7,and 1μm,respectively,over a full *** up to 0.78 A∕W at 1550 nm and zero bias were *** bias operation is possible for 25 and 40 Gbps with receiver sensitivity estimated to−13.9 and−12.3 dBm,respectively.

We propose and demonstrate a passively mode-locked fiber laser operating at 1951.8 nm using a commercial thulium-doped fiber （TDf） laser, a homemade double-clad thulium-ytterbium co-doped fiber （TYDf） as the gain media, and a multi-walled carbon nanotube （MWCNT） based saturable absorber （SA）. We prepare the MWCNT composite by mixing a homogeneous solution of MWCNTs with a diluted polyvinyl alcohol （PVA） polymer solution and then drying it at room temperature to form a film. The film is placed between two fiber connectors as a SA before it is integrated into a laser ring cavity. The cavity consists of a 2 m long TDf pumped by a 800 nm laser diode and a 15 m long homemade TYDf pumped by a 905 nm multimode laser diode. A stable mode-locking pulse with a repetition rate of 34.6 MHz and a pulse width of 10.79 ps is obtained when the 905 nm multimode pump power reaches 1.8-2.2 W, while the single-mode 800 nm pump power is fixed at 141.5 mW at all times. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported mode-locked fiber laser using a MWCNT-based SA.

The use of traditional breeding for improvement of avocado cultivars is time consuming, hence other methods such as genetic transformation by Agrobacterium is indispensable to adopt. The strain GV3850/pBI121gave best transformation outcome compared to five other binary vectors (AGL1/pCGP904;AGL1/pBI121;GV3850/pCGP904;LBA4404/pCG-P904 and LBA4404/pBI121) under different pH and acetosyringone concentrations. The optimal condition for reliable transformation was by using 200 μM acetosyringone and a pH of 5.2. Transformed embryonic shoots co-cultivated with GV3850/pBI121 were tested using the histochemical x-gluc assay. further analysis was conducted by polymerase chain reaction using specific primers for the reporter gene (GUS).

Tuberculosis(TB)is a severe infection that mostly affects the lungs and kills millions of people’s lives every *** can be diagnosed using chest X-rays(CXR)and data-driven deep learning(DL)*** of its better automated feature extraction capability,convolutional neural net-works(CNNs)trained on natural images are particularly effective in image cate-gorization.A combination of 3001 normal and 3001 TB CXR images was gathered for this study from different accessible public *** different deep CNNs(Resnet50,Resnet101,Resnet152,InceptionV3,VGG16,VGG19,DenseNet121,DenseNet169,DenseNet201,MobileNet)are trained and tested for identifying TB and normal *** study presents a deep CNN approach based on histogram matched CXR images that does not require object segmenta-tion of interest,and this coupled methodology of histogram matching with the CXRs improves the accuracy and detection performance of CNN models for TB ***,this research contains two separate experiments that used CXR images with and without histogram matching to classify TB and non-TB CXRs using deep *** was able to accurately detect TB from CXR images using pre-processing,data augmentation,and deep CNN *** histogram matching the best accuracy,sensitivity,specificity,precision and f1-score in the detection of TB using CXR images among ten models are 99.25%,99.48%,99.52%,99.48%and 99.22%*** histogram matching the best accuracy,sensitivity,specificity,precision and f1-score are 99.58%,99.82%,99.67%,99.65%and 99.56%*** proposed meth-odology,which has cutting-edge performance,will be useful in computer-assisted TB diagnosis and aids in minimizing irregularities in TB detection in developing countries.

Content-aware image resizing is a kind of new and effective approach for image resizing, which preserves image content well and does not cause obvious distortion when changing the aspect ratio of images. Recently, a seam based approach for content-aware image resizing was proposed by Avidan and Shamir. Their results are impressive, but because the method uses dynamic programming many times, it is slow. In this paper, we present a more efficient algorithm for seam based content-aware iraage resizing, which searches seams through establishing the matching relation between adjacent rows or columns. We give a linear algorithm to find the optimal matches within a weighted bipartite graph composed of the pixels in adjacent rows or columns. Therefore, our method is fast （e.g. our method needs only about 100 ms to reduce a 768x1024 Image＇s width to 1/3 while Avidan and Shamir＇s method needs 12 s）. This supports immediate image resizing whereas Avidan and Shamir＇s method requires a more costly pre-processing step to enable subsequent real-time processing. A fast method such as the one proposed will be also needed for future real-time video resizing applications.
