The distributions of two ubiquitous fouling cheilostome bryozoans,Cryptosula pallasiana(Moll,1803)and W atersipora sp.,on a ship moored for almost six years in Qingdao Bay show diff erences with respect to illumination,C ryptosula being dominant on the side of the ship which was exposed to the sun and Watersipora dominating on the other side which was in shadow for most of the *** interactions for substrate space were nearly always won by Watersipora,which succeeded in overgrowing the edges of C ryptosula colonies regardless of the side of the *** for the superiority of W atersipora in spatial competition with Cryptosula could include faster growth rate and the stronger feeding currents created by the larger lophophores of Watersipora.

Several advances in genetics, diagnosis and palliation of pancreatic cancer (PC) have occurred in the last decades. A multidisciplinary approach to this disease is therefore recommended. PC is relatively common as it is the fourth leading cause of cancer related mortality. Most patients present with obstructive jaundice, epigastric or back pain, weight loss and anorexia. despite improvements in diagnostic modalities, the majority of cases are still detected in advanced stages. The only curative treatment for PC remains surgical resection. No more than 20% of patients are candidates for surgery at the time of diagnosis and survival remains quite poor as adjuvant therapies are not very effective. A small percentage of patients with borderline non-resectable PC might benefit from neo-adjuvant chemoradiation therapy enabling them to undergo resection; however, randomized controlled studies are needed to prove the benefits of this strategy. Patients with unresectable PC benefit from palliative interventions such as biliary decompression and celiac plexus block. Further clinical trials to evaluate new chemo and radiation protocols as well as identification of genetic markers for PC are needed to improve the overall survival of patients affected by PC, as the current overall 5-year survival rate of patients affected by PC is still less than 5%. The aim of this article is to review the most recent high quality literature on this topic.

Polysaccharide-rich plant cell walls are important biomaterials that underpin plant growth, are major repositories for photosynthetically accumulated carbon, and, in addition, impact greatly on the human use of plants. Land plant cell walls contain in the region of a dozen major polysaccharide structures that are mostly encompassed by cellulose, hemicelluloses, and pectic polysaccharides. during the evolution of land plants, polysaccharide diversification appears to have largely involved structural elaboration and diversification within these polysaccharide groups. Cell wall chemistry is well advanced and a current phase of cell wall science is aimed at placing the complex polysaccharide chemistry in cellular contexts and developing a detailed understanding of cell wall biology. Imaging cell wall glycomes is a challenging area but recent developments in the establishment of cell wall molecular probe panels and their use in high throughput procedures are leading to rapid advances in the molecular understanding of the spatial heterogeneity of individual cell walls and also cell wall differences at taxonomic levels. The challenge now is to integrate this knowledge of cell wall heterogeneity with an understanding of the molecular and physiological mechanisms that underpin cell wall properties and functions.

This study evaluated the hydrodynamic forces produced by whole panels of hand-made(geometrically different)rope meshes typically found in midwater *** treatments included both knotted and knotless meshes constructed of helix composite ropes,conventional braided nylon(PA)ropes,and twisted polyethylene(PE)*** measurement of lift(L)and drag(d)forces were conducted using controlled flume tank experiments on panels oriented at 21°relative to the *** knotted netting,our results showed that the hydrodynamic forces(L and d)were statistically higher for helix ropes compared to conventional ropes of the same *** knotless netting constructed of helix ropes,our primary finding is that the arrangement of helix ropes(S and Z lay)in individual meshes significantly affects the resulting d and Cd of whole netting *** the mesh bars in the S-Z-S-Z lay pattern exhibited 29%and 32%lower drag(d)compared to S–S–S–S and S–S-Z-Z lay meshes,*** also use computational fluid dynamics(CFd)to characterize the finescale flow-field around helix and conventional *** resulting streamlines and pressure contours provide a functional explanation for the empirical measurements collected in the flume *** results can be useful in informing the design of midwater trawls.

This study explores how zirconia additive interacts with MgH_(2)to improve its hydrogen storage *** it is confirmed that the zirconia added MgH_(2)powder releases hydrogen at a temperature of about 50℃below that of the additive free MgH_(2).Subsequent tests by X ray diffraction(XRd)and infrared(IR)spectroscopy techniques reveal that the ZrO_(2) mixed MgH_(2)powder contains ZrHx(21.5)and MgO secondary *** observation is supported by the negative Gibbs free energy values obtained for the formation of ZrH_(2)/MgO from ZrO_(2)/MgH_(2)powder *** X ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)study reveals that apart from Zr^(4+)cations,Zr^(2+) and zero valent Zr exist in the *** force microscopy(AFM)study reveals that the average grain size is 20 nm and the elemental line scan profiles further proves the existence of oxygen deficient Zr bearing phase(s).This study strengthens the belief that functional metal oxide additives in fact chemically interact with MgH_(2)to make active in-situ catalysts in the MgH_(2)system.

In this paper,a grid voltage sensorless model predictive control is proposed and verified by simulation and experimental tests for a PWM *** presented method is simple and cost effective due to no need of modulator and voltage *** developed sliding mode voltage observer(SMVO)can theoretically track the grid voltage accurately without phase lag and magnitude *** on the proposed SMVO,the finite control set-model predictive control(FCS-MPC)is incorporated for power *** active power and reactive power are calculated and predicted using the measured current and the estimated grid voltage from the *** the predicated power for one-step delay compensation,the best voltage vector minimizing the tracking error is selected by *** whole algorithm is implemented in stationary frame without using Park's *** the simulation and experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

A viable option for increasing nitrogen (N) use efficiency and mitigation of negative impacts of N on the environment is to capitalize on multi-element interactions through implementation of nutrient management programs that provide balanced nutrition. Numerous studies have demonstrated the immediate efficacy of this approach in the developing regions like China and India as well as developed countries in North America. Based on 241 site-years of experiments in these countries, the first-year N recovery efficiency (RE) for the conventional or check treatments averaged 21% while the balanced treatments averaged 54% RE, for an average increase of 33% in RE due to balanced nutrition. Effective policies to promote adoption are most likely those that enable site-specific approaches to nutrient management decisions rather than sweeping, nation-wide incentives supporting one nutrient over another. Local farmers, advisers and officials need to be empowered with tools and information to help them define necessary changes in practices to create more balanced nutrient management.

Because of its importance as a food source, Nemipterus japonicus （Bloch, 1791）（Nemipteridae） or Japanese threadfin bream is the best studied of these taxa, and numerous investigations have examined its fisheries, its biology and biochemistry. de- spite such intensive work, the taxonomic status of N. japonicus has never been seriously questioned and it is regarded as a common species, widely distributed throughout the Indo-Westem Pacific Ocean. In fact, Bloch＇s description of the type specimen of ***- ponicus has ambiguous collection data and lacks a designation for the type locality, though it is probably Java. In this paper, dNA barcode results based on COl gene support the existence of two geographically separated lineages of the Japanese threadfin bream, both being an Indian Ocean and western Pacific lineage, with 2.7% sequence divergence, and the results indicate a possible existing of some cryptic species. The two lineages also possess a diagnostic difference in their belly color, with specimens in the South China Sea having a silver belly, while those from the Indian Ocean isolate specimen have a yellow coloration. Based upon new collections from the South China Sea, this species from the western Pacific is morphologically redescribed and its details of dNA barcode diver- sity are shown for the future investigations.

This experiment was designed to accommodate the diversified verbal,mathematical,and spatial skills of young adults,which have not yet to be collectively evaluated in research projects focused on acute exercise and creativity among college *** emerging research suggests that acute moderate-intensity exercise may influence human creativity,creativity during and after exercise has not been experimentally *** differences are plausible,as previous work demonstrates that memory can be differentially influenced based on whether the memory task occurs during or after ***,the purpose of this study was to examine the effects of acute moderate‐intensity treadmill walking,for 15 min,on verbal,mathematical,and spatial insight creativity performance while considering the timing of the exercise and creativity *** a sample of 20 undergraduate students,all completed three randomized laboratory visits in this within-subjects design:control condition,insight problem-solving following exercise,and insight problem-solving during *** also completed six insight creativity tasks(two verbal,two mathematical,and two spatial tasks)per visit,with the order of task-presentation randomized and counterbalanced across the three *** insight creativity scores were similar across the three exercise manipulations:That is,verbal insight[F(2,18)=0.689,P=0.51],mathematical insight[F(2,18)=0.033,P=0.97],and spatial insight[F(2,18)=1.0,P=0.38]performance were not statistically significant across the three ***,moderate-intensity acute exercise may not appreciably influence verbal,mathematical or spatial insight creativity.
