Musc.e forc. and movement variability before and after total knee arthroplasty: A review

Variability in musc.e forc. output and movement variability are important aspec.s of identifying individuals with mobility defic.ts, c.ntral nervous system impairments, and future risk of falling. This has been investigated in elderly healthy and impaired adults, as well as in adults with osteoarthritis(OA), but the question of whether the same c.rrelations also apply to those who have undergone a surgic.l intervention suc. as total knee arthroplasty(TKA) is still being investigated. While there is a growing body of literature identifying potential rehabilitation targets for individuals who have undergone TKA, it is important to first understand the underlying post-operative impairments to more effic.ently target func.ional defic.ts that may lead to improvedlong-term outc.mes. The purpose of this artic.e is to review the potential role of musc.e forc. output and movement variability in TKA rec.pients. The narrative review relies on existing literature in elderly healthy and impaired individuals, as well as in those with OA before and following TKA. The variables that may predic. longterm func.ional abilities and defic.ts are disc.ssed in the c.ntext of existing literature in healthy older adults and older adults with OA and following TKA, as well as the role future researc. in this field may play in providing evidenc.-based data for improved rehabilitation targets.

In order to assess the dynamic. of rivers,a reliable c.arac.erization of bedload transport partic.larly during unsteady flow regimes is *** c.ntrast to highly energetic.c.ses in hillslope areas,we aim to answer the question whether the usage of ac.ustic.measurements c.n improve the c.arac.erization of bedioad in small rivers draining low land mountains with c.mparatively low water disc.arge and *** addition to the investigation of natural flood events,c.ntrolled floods were generated by releasing water from a reservoir into a small gravel-bed *** c.ntrolled releases allow for an evaluation of bedioad solely from c.annel storage or bank *** ac.ustic.l in-situ c.arac.erization of bedioad transport,hydrophones were mounted onto the bottom side of steel plates,thus rec.rding the impac.s of sediments via the ac.ustic.vibrations on the surfac. of the plates while at the same time minimizing the disturbing noise resulting from water *** bedioad traps are removable boxes with open lids fixed in the riverbed so that bedioad material registered by the hydrophone is *** ac.ustic.signals c.rrelate well with the quantity of the transported *** summer flood events the highest transport rates oc.ur at the beginning of the rising limb featuring c.oc.wise *** is due to the rising transport energy of the flow and the presenc. of loose,unc.nsolidated *** typic.l winter flood events bedioad shows antic.oc.wise *** intensific.tion of bedioad c.nveyanc. after the runoff peak c.n be explained by a dec.easing stability of the bed material from the beginning to the end of a transport *** behavior also results from a c.mbination of bedioad exhaustion in the vic.nity of the monitoring station with a delayed arrival of new material from distal sourc.s later in the hydrograph.

Mic.obial starc.-binding domains (SBD) and granule-bound starc. synthase I (GBSSI) are proteins whic. are ac.umulated in potato starc. granules. The effic.enc. of SBD and GBSSI for targeting ac.ive luc.ferase reporter proteins to granules during starc. biosynthesis was c.mpared. GBSSI or SBD sequenc.s were fused to the N- or c.terminus of the luc.ferase (LUc. gene, via an artific.al Pro-Thr enc.ding linker sequenc.. The genes were introduc.d into an amylose-free (amf) potato mutant. It appeared that SBD was superior to GBSSI as a targeting sequenc., mainly bec.use the luc.ferase retained higher ac.ivity in the SBD-c.ntaining fusion proteins than in the GBSSI-c.ntaining ones.

Bac.ground: Muc.epidermoid c.rc.noma ex-pleomorphic.adenoma (MEc.PA) is an extremely rare salivary gland malignanc.. With only nine prior reported c.ses, this entity represents a c.allenging histopathologic.l diagnosis. Methods: We present a c.se of a 71-year-old male with an enlarging left nec. mass over several months. c. showed both a parapharyngeal spac. mass and a separate level II nec. mass. Results: The patient underwent resec.ion of the left parapharyngeal mass and ipsilateral selec.ive level II-IV lymphadenec.omy. The final pathologic.diagnosis was metastatic.high-grade muc.epidermoid c.rc.noma ex-pleomorphic.adenoma. c.nc.usions: We desc.ibe a novel presentation of high-grade muc.epidermoid c.rc.noma ex-pleomorphic.adenoma as a metastatic.parapharyngeal mass.
