A parabolic.trough solar c.llec.or(PTSc.c.nverts solar radiation into thermal ***,low thermal effic.enc. of PTSc.poses a hindranc. to the deployment of solar thermal power *** performanc. of PTSc.is enhanc.d in this study by inc.rporating magnetic.nanopartic.es into the working *** c.rc.lar rec.iver pipe,with dimensions of 66 mm diameter,2 mm thic.ness,and 24 m length,is exposed to uniform temperature and veloc.ty *** working fluid,Therminol-66,is supplemented with Fe3O4 magnetic.nanopartic.es at c.nc.ntrations ranging from 1%to 4%.The findings demonstrate that the inc.usion of nanopartic.es inc.eases the c.nvec.ive heat transfer c.effic.ent(HTc.of the PTSc.with higher nanopartic.e volume frac.ions leading to greater heat transfer but inc.eased pressure *** thermal enhanc.ment fac.or(TEF)of the PTSc.is positively affec.ed by the volume frac.ion of nanopartic.es,both with and without a magnetic.***,the sc.nario with a 4%nanopartic.e volume frac.ion and a magnetic.field strength of 250 G exhibits the highest TEF,indic.ting superior thermal *** findings offer potential avenues for improving the effic.enc. of PTSc. in solar thermal plants by introduc.ng magnetic.nanopartic.es into the working fluid.

Epilepsy is c.nsidered as a c.mmon and diverse set of c.ronic.neurologic.l disorders and its symptoms c.n be c.ntrolled by antiepileptic.drugs(AEDs). The presenc. of p-glyc.protein and multi-drug resistanc. transporters in the blood-brain barrier c.uld prevent the entry of AEDs into the brain, c.using drug resistant epilepsy. To overc.me this problem, we propose using c.rboxymethyl c.itosan nanopartic.es as a c.rrier to deliver c.rbamazepine(c.Z) intranasally with the purpose to bypass the blood-brain barrier thus to enhanc. the brain drug c.nc.ntration and the treatment effic.c.. Results so far indic.te that the developed c.ZNPs have small partic.e size(218.76 ± 2.41 nm) with high drug loading(around 35%) and high entrapment effic.enc.(around 80%). The in vitro release profiles of c.Z from the NPs are in ac.ordanc. with the Korsmeyer-peppas model. The in vivo results show that both enc.psulation of c.Z in nanopartic.es and the nasal route determined the enhanc.ment of the drug bioavailability and brain targeting c.arac.eristic..

For the purpose of overc.ming the lac. of durability problems assoc.ated with superhydrophobic.surfac.s whic. hitherto has limited their use;we prepared multi-stimuli wettability response c.atings using a mixture of fluoroc.rbon resin and urea-formaldehyde mic.oc.psules filled with fluorosilane via interfac.al polymerization *** mic.oc.psules are of good thermal stability and c.n be triggered to release their c.re c.ntent on exposure to atmospheric.c.nditions resulting in the inc.ease in the water c.ntac. angle from 97°to 151°.The prepared c.atings gave good adhesion strength,and also showed an inc.ease in the hydrophobic.property after undergoing sc.atc.,solvent and UV ac.elerated aging *** addition,they offered good self-healing of the hydrophobic.property after an initial loss due to alkaline immersion and oxygen plasma *** elec.roc.emic.l measurements revealed a remarkable impedanc. rec.very and suppression of c.rrosion ac.ivities,suggesting them to be a potential c.ndidate material for c.rrosion protec.ion.

AIM To study the innate immune func.ion in ulc.rative c.litis(Uc. patients who fail to respond to anti-tumor nec.osis fac.or(TNF) *** Effec.s of anti-TNF therapy, inflammation and medic.tions on innate immune func.ion were assessed by measuring peripheral blood mononuc.ear c.ll(PBMc. c.tokine expression from 18 inflammatory bowel disease patients pre- and 3 mo post-anti-TNF therapy. Toll-like rec.ptor(TLR) expression and c.tokine produc.ion post TLR stimulation was assessed in Uc."responders"(n = 12) and "non-responders"(n = 12) and c.mpared to healthy c.ntrols(n = 12). Erythroc.te sedimentation rate(ESR) and c.reac.ive protein(c.P) levels were measured in blood to assess disease severity/ac.ivity and inflammation. Pro-inflammatory(TNF, IL-1β, IL-6), immuno-regulatory(IL-10), Th1(IL-12, IFNγ) and Th2(IL-9, IL-13, IL-17A) c.tokine expression was measured with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay while TLR c.llular c.mposition and intrac.llular signalling was assessed with *** Prior to anti-TNF therapy, responders and nonresponders had similar level of disease severity and ac.ivity. PBMc.s ability to respond to TLR stimulation was not affec.ed by TNF therapy, patient's severity of the disease and inflammation or their medic.tion use. At baseline, non-responders had elevated innate but not adaptive immune responses c.mpared to responders(P c.nsistently reduc.d innate c.tokine responses to all TLRs c.mpared to healthy c.ntrols(P c.ion c.mpared to responders. Environmental warming plac.s physiologic.l c.nstraints on organisms, whic. may be mitigated by their feeding behavior. Theory predic.s that c.nsumers should inc.ease their feeding selec.ivity for more energetic.lly valuable resourc.s in warmer environments to offset the disproportionate inc.ease in metabolic.demand relative to ingestion rate. This may also result in a c.ange in feeding strategy or a shift towards a more spec.alist diet. This study used a natural warming experiment to investigate temperature effec.s on the feeding selec.ivity of three freshwater invertebrate grazers： the snail Radix balthic., the blac.fly larva Simulium aureum, and the midgefly larva Eukiefferiella minor. c.esson＇s Selec.ivity Index was used to c.mpare the proportional abundanc. of diatom spec.es in the guts of eac. invertebrate spec.es with c.rresponding roc. biofilms sampled from streams of different tem- perature. The snails bec.me more selec.ive in warmer streams, c.oosing high profile epilithic.diatoms over other guilds and feeding on a lower diversity of diatom spec.es. The blac.fly larvae appeared to switc. from ac.ive c.llec.or gathering of sessile high profile diatoms to more passive filter feeding of motile diatoms in warmer streams. No c.anges in selec.ivity were observed for the midgefly larvae, whose diet was representative of resourc. availability in the environment. These results suggest that key primary c.nsumers in freshwater streams, whic. c.nstitute a major portion of invertebrate biomass, c.n c.ange their feeding behavior in warmer waters in a range of different ways. These patterns c.uld potentially lead to fundamental c.anges in the flow of energy through freshwater food webs.
