Introduction: Atrio-esoph.geal fistula is a rare but often fatal complication of radiofrequency ablation for atrial fibrillation. h.re we report a successful case in anesth.tic management of surgical repair of atrio-esoph.geal fistula. Case Report: Th. patient was a 56-year-old man status post radiofrequency ablation for atrial fibrillation one month.before presenting with.fever and symptoms and signs of cerebral emboli. h. was diagnosed as h.ving atrio-esoph.geal fistula, wh.ch.required emergent surgical repair. In th. operating room, rapid sequence induction was performed with.avoidance of positive pressure ventilation before securing airway. Double lumen tube was used for lung isolation for left th.racotomy. Upon exploration, a small fistula was identified. Both.atrial and esoph.geal defects were ligated and an intercostal muscle flap was placed. Th. patient’s h.art rh.th. was atrial flutter/atrial fibrillation with.marginal h.modynamics during th. procedure, but cardioversion was delayed until th. fistula was repaired and no remaining air, blood clot or gastric content in th. h.art was confirmed by epicardial ultrasound. Th. patient tolerated th. surgery and was transferred to ICU, intubated and ventilated. h. recovered from surgery and was transferred to a reh.bilitation h.spital with.residual expressive aph.sia. Conclusion: We h.d a successful case in anesth.tic management for surgical repair of atrio-esoph.geal fistula by preventing massive bleeding as well as multiple air embolization th.ough.th. fistula.

Estimation of th. plant-available water capacity(PAWC)of soils at a regional scale h.lps in adopting better land use planning,developing suitable irrigation sch.dules for crops,and optimizing th. use of scarce water *** th. current study,72 soil profiles were sampled from th. Math.matical modeling of anaerobic digestion is a powerful tool to predict gas yields and optimize th. *** Anaerobic Digestion Model No.1(ADM1)is a widely implemented model for th.s ***,modeling full-scale biogas plants is ch.llenging due to th. extensive substrate and parameter ch.racterization *** study describes th. modification of th. ADM1 th.ough.a simplification of individual process ph.ses,ch.racteristic components and required ***,th. ability of th. simplified model to simulate th. co-digestion of grass silage and cattle slurry was evaluated using data from a full-scale biogas *** impacts of substrate composition(crude carboh.drate,protein and lipid concentration)and variability of carboh.drate degradability on simulation results were assessed to identify th. most influential *** indicated th.t th. simplified version was able to depict biogas and biometh.ne production with.average model efficiencies,according to th. Nash.Sutcliffe efficiency(NSE)coefficient,of 0.70 and 0.67,respectively,and was comparable to th. original ADM1(average model efficiencies of 0.71 and 0.63,respectively).Th. variability of crude carboh.drate,protein and lipid concentration did not significantly impact biogas and biometh.ne output for th. data sets *** contrast,carboh.drate degradability seemed to explain much.more of th. variability in th. biogas and meth.ne ***,th. application of simplified models provides a reliable basis for th. process simulation and optimization of full-scale agricultural biogas plants.

Five common single plastics and nine different h.useh.ld,commercial and industrial waste plastics were processed using a th.ee-stage(i)pyrolysis,(ii)catalytic steam reforming and(iii)water gas sh.ft reaction system to produce *** of plastics produces a range of different h.drocarbon species wh.ch.are subsequently catalytically steam reformed to produce h.(2)and CO and th.n undergo water gas sh.ft reaction to produce furth.r h.(2).Th. process mimics th. commercial process for h.drogen production from natural *** of th. single polyalkene plastics(h.gh.density polyeth.lene(h.PE),low-density polyeth.lene(LDPE),and polypropylene(PP))produced similar h.(2)yields between 115 mmol and 120 mmol per gram *** th.ugh.PS produced an aromatic product slate from th. pyrolysis stage,furth.r stages of reforming and water gas sh.ft reaction produced a gas yield and composition similar to th.t of th. polyalkene plastics(115 mmol h.(2)per gram plastic).PET gave significantly lower h.(2)yield(41 mmol per gram plastic)due to th. formation of mainly CO,CO_(2)and organic acids from th. pyrolysis stage wh.ch.were not conducive to furth.r reforming and water gas sh.ft reaction.A mixture of th. single plastics typical of th.t found in municipal solid waste produced a h.(2)yield of 102 mmol per gram *** th. gas yields and composition from th. single plastics enabled an estimation of th. yields from a simulated waste plastic mixture and a‘real-world’waste plastic mixture to be *** different h.useh.ld,commercial and industrial waste plastic mixtures produced h.(2)yields between 70 mmol and 107 mmol per gram *** h.(2)yield and gas composition from th. single waste plastics gave an indication of th. type of plastics in th. mixed waste plastic samples.
