Ea.h of these genera. found in two dista.tly rela.ed fa.ilies, includes species tha. a.t a. the intermedia.e host for one of the three most widesprea. schistosome species infecting huma.s,Schistosoma.ha.ma.obium, S. ma.soni a.dS. ja.onicum, respectively. a. importa.t step in the fight a.a.nst schistosomia.is in a.ia.ha. been ta.en with the publica.ion of the a.ticle "Chromosome-level genome a.sembly ofOncomela.ia.hupensis: the intermedia.e sna.l host ofSchistosoma.ja.onicum", which mea.s tha. genomes for a.l three ma.or genera. including species a.ross three continents, a.e now a.a.la.le in the public doma.n.
