Polychaetes are one of the most important groups ofmacrobenthic organisms in coastal and marine environments,in terms of diversity and abundance,and play an important role in the functioning of *** study aims to describe the structure and spatial distribution ofpolychaete communities along Essaouira's rocky shoreline(Atlantic coast of Morocco)in relation to the major environmental variables such as granulometry,salinity,temperature,pH,and intertidal *** sites from these intertidal rocky shores were sampled using a quadrat method during the summer 2016.A total of 4435 individuals belonging to 34 taxa were *** the families,Sabellaridae(24%)and Nereididae(23%)were ranked first in terms of abundance of *** alveolata(24%)and Perinereis cultrifera(13%)were the dominant ***(H')values varied from 2.28 to ***'s index(j')varied between 0.62 and *** was essentially due to the low dominance of few *** analysis was used to characterise Essaouira's rocky shores on the basis of benthic polychaete *** analysis confirmed the presence of three distinct *** to canonical correspondence analysis,the structure and distribution of faunal assemblages of benthic polychaetes was mainly related to topographical complexity,water temperature,hydrodynamic conditions and *** conclude that these rocky shores show typically high benthic polychaete diversity compared to the taxonomic list of other rocky *** addition,these results constitute a baseline data for the development of a sustainable network for long-term monitoring of benthic polychaete community changes due to ecological factor influences and anthropogenic activity impacts.

A major challenge in runoff and soil erosion modelling is the adequate representation of the most relevant processes in models while avoiding over *** the European loess belt,pro-gressive soil crusting during rainfall events,resulting in infiltration-excess runoff,is usually considered the dominant process generating runoff on catchments covered with silty ***-excess may also occur and affect their runoff and erosion ***,saturation-excess runoff occurrence and quantification have rarely been performed and is usually not taken into account when modelling runoff and erosion in these ***,a continuous simulation of the Austreberthe catchment(214 km^(2)),located in the European loess belt(Normandy,France),was conducted with the new Water and Sediment(WaterSed)model over 12 years,corresponding to more than 780 individual rainfall events,at a 25 m spatial *** inter-annual variability of runoff and erosion was closely linked to the number of intense events per year and their distribution through the *** model was properly calibrated over a representative set of 35 rainfall events,considering either infiltration-excess and/or saturation-excess *** was also able to reproduce the measured runoff volume for most of the monitoring ***,the three years with most rainfall were adequately modelled only including saturation-excess *** analysis performed at the seasonal scale revealed that saturation was modelled in the catchment during almost all of the modelling period,suggesting the importance of this often overlooked process in current modelling attempts.

Hemispheric asymmetries can be seen as one of the evolutionary adaptations that allowed the human brain to muster more complex cognitive processes than other *** this vein,the study published by Cheng et al.[1]presents a pivotal investigation of both the regional and connectional asymmetries within the inferior parietal lobule(IPL)in human,chimpanzee,and *** investigating 4 sub-divisions of the IPL across the three species,Cheng and colleagues showed that the macroanatomical and connectional architecture of the IPL became more asymmetric throughout the primate *** macaques show little to no structural asymmetries,chimpanzees display a more asymmetric architecture but with both leftward and rightward asymmetries in various *** contrast,the human IPL displayed the highest number of asymmetries among the three species with a clear tendency towards more *** evolutionary trend towards a more lateralized organization of the IPL may have accompanied an improved command of tool-use,stronger forelimb asymmetries,and the increasing complexity of communicative behavior.

This paper describes an experimental investigation on the flow characteristics within a rotating cylinder containing a rolling bed of sand. The axis of the cylinder was horizontal and there was no axial bulk flow of particles. The velocity field of the gas flowing through the cylinder was measured by hot-wire anemometry. The measurements indicate that the velocity field is asymmetric with respect to a diameter perpendicular to the granular bed. CFD calculations confirm this finding. The gas velocity profiles are crucial in determining heat transfer from gas to solid.

The aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness of plasma-activated water(PAW)for inactivating Escherichia coli(***)and retention of key quality factors for *** plasma discharge times(1,2,3,4,5,and 10 min)and different exposure times(2,4,6,8,10,and 15 min)were used to investigate the inactivation effect of *** spot-inoculated on *** influence of different exposure times on the pH,hardness and color of kale was studied *** addition,the effects of PAW on the shelf-life of kale over 12 d of storage at 4℃ were *** results showed that after the treatment of 5-PAW-8(8 min treatment by PAW generated by 5 min plasma discharge),the population of *** on kale was reduced by approximately 1.55 log colony-forming units(CFU)/g and the changes in pH,hardness and color of kale were not significant(P>0.05).During the storage period after 5-PAW-8 treatment,the hardness,weight loss,color,surface morphology and ascorbic acid were found to be better than those of the two control groups(P0.05).It is indicated that PAW treatment is a promising methodfor improving microbiological safety and extending the shelf-life of kale.
