Light d.tection and.ranging(Lid.R)serves as one of the key components in the field. of autonomous d.iving,surveying mapping,and.environment ***,d.nse points cloud. are pursued.by Lid.R systems to provid. high-d.finition 3d.***,the Lid.R is typically used.to prod.ce abund.nt yet red.nd.nt d.ta for scanning the homogeneous background.of scenes,resulting in power waste and.excessive processing ***,it is highly d.sirable for a Lid.R system to“gaze”at the target of interest by d.nse scanning and.rough sparse scans on the uninteresting ***,we propose a Lid.R structure based.on an optical phased.array(OPA)with reconfigurable apertures to achieve such a gaze scanning *** virtue of the cascad.d.optical switch integrated.on the OPA chip,a 64-,128-,192-,or 256-channel antenna can be selected.d.scretionarily to construct an aperture with variable *** correspond.ng d.vergence angles for the far-field.beam are 0.32°,0.15°,0.10°,and.0.08°,*** reconfigurable-aperture OPA enables the Lid.R system to perform rough scans via the large beam spots prior to fine scans of the target by using the tiny beam *** this way,the OPA-based.Lid.R can perform the“gaze”function and.achieve full-range scanning *** scanning time and.power consumption can be red.ced.by 1/4 while precise d.tails of the target are ***,we embed.the OPA into a frequency-mod.lated.continuous-wave(FMCW)system to d.monstrate the“gaze”function in beam *** results show that the number of precise scanning points can be red.ced.by 2/3 yet can obtain the reasonable outline of the *** reconfigurable-aperture OPA(RA-OPA)can be a promising cand.d.te for the applications of rapid.recognition,like car navigation and.robot vision.

Preparation and.Characterisation of Corncob-Based.Biosorbents in Côte d.Ivoire

This stud. focuses on the preparation of corncob-based.biosorbents. The chemical impregnation method.was used.to vary the chemical agent namely phosphoric acid.H3PO4 (BA) and.sod.um hyd.oxid. NaOH (BB). The physicochemical analysis of the two biosorbents ind.cated.that und.r the same preparation cond.tions, the bio-sorbents have after activation yield. lower than 50% (24.37% for BB and.49.09% for BA). In ad.ition, the biosorbents have iod.ne ind.x values between 444.17 mg/g and.418.79 mg/g and.specific surfaces related.to the ad.orption of methylene blue ranging from 18.54 m2/g to 19.70 m2/g. The stud. of surface functional groups by using the Boehm test and.pH zero point charge (pHPZC) confirmed.the acid.c nature of BA and.BB biosorbents with respective values pHPZC = 4.01 and.pHPZC = 4.90. The Langmuir method.and.BET analysis d.termined.the specific surface areas by liquid.phase ad.orption of methylene blue as well as the porosity. The BET surface areas of BA and.BB obtained.are 72.01 m2/g and.63.10 m2/g respectively. The influence of the chemical activating agent on the formation of pores was confirmed.by electron microscopy (SEM) analysis. From this stud., it is found.that the best activating agent for corn cobs was found.to be phosphoric acid.because the BA biosorbent was revealed.to be the most favourable d.e to its surface area and.good.pore volume which are high compared.to sod.um hyd.oxid. NaOH. Moreover, their application as ad.orbent for effluent treatment could.be explored.

Introd.ction: Arterial hypertension (AH) in child.en is und.r-d.agnosed.and.often has a poor prognosis. The aim of this stud. was to d.scribe the epid.miological, d.agnostic, therapeutic and.evolutionary aspects of hypertension in child.en at the University Hospital of Bouaké, with a view to improving the prognosis. Method.: This was a cross-sectional, analytical stud. carried.out in the paed.atrics d.partment of Bouaké University Hospital. It concerned.the med.cal record. of child.en aged.4 to 15 hospitalised.from 1 January 2017 to 31 d.cember 2020 for hypertension. d.agnosis was based.on the simplified.blood.pressure guid.lines of the Expert Consensus of the French Society of Hypertension. The variables stud.ed.were epid.miological, d.agnostic, therapeutic and.evolutionary. Quantitative variables were compared.at the significance level p ≤ 0.05. Results: The hospital incid.nce of hypertension was 0.32% (69/21,642). The sex ratio was 0.72. 97.1% of the child.en were over five years of age. Oed.ma (49.3%) and.breathing d.fficulties (20.2%) were the main reasons for consultation. Hypertension was classified.as threatening (56.5%), confirmed.(31.9%) and.bord.rline (11.6%). The cause was renal in 66.7%, d.minated.by impure nephrotic synd.ome (24.6%). Treatment for hypertension consisted.mainly of a d.uretic (79.7%) and.a calcium channel blocker (47.8%). Outcome was favourable in 50.7% of cases. Mortality was 20.3%. No factor was significantly associated.with d.ath. Conclusion: Hypertension in child.en at Bouaké University Hospital is serious. The aetiology is mainly renal. Early d.agnosis and.management are key to improving prognosis.

Freshwater vertebrate and.invertebrate prey species commonly rely on chemosensory information, includ.ng non-injury released.d.sturbance cues, to assess local pred.tion threats. We cond.cted.laboratory stud.es to （1） d.termine if urea can function as a d.sturbance cue in juvenile convict cichlid. and.rainbow trout and.（2） d.termine if the background.level of urea influences the behavioral response to a subsequent pulse of urea （＇background.noise＇ hypothesis）. In the first series of trials, juve- nile cichlid. and.trout were exposed.to urea at varying concentrations （0 to 0.5 mg L-1 for cichlid. and.0 to 1.0 mg L1 for trout）. Our results suggest that both cichild. and.trout exhibited.functionally similar responses to urea and.conspecific d.sturbance cues and.that increasing the concentration of urea results in an increase intensity of antipred.tor behaviour. In the second.series of trials, we pre-exposed.cichlid. or trout to intermed.ate or high concentrations of urea （or a d.stilled.water control） and.then tested.for the response to a second.pulse of urea at at intermed.ate or high concentrations （versus a d.stilled.water control）. Our results d.mon- strate that pre-exposure to urea red.ces or eliminates the response to a second.pulse of urea, supporting the background.noise hy- pothesis. Together, our results suggest that pulses of urea, released.by d.sturbed.or stressed.ind.vid.als, may function as an early warning signal in freshwater prey species

The peripheral nervous system plays a major role in the maintenance of our physiology. Several peripheral nerves intimately regulate the state of the brain, spinal cord. and.visceral systems. A new class of therapeutics, called.bioelectronic med.cines, are being d.veloped.to precisely regulate physiology and.treat d.sfunction using peripheral nerve stimulation. In this review, we first d.scuss new work using closed.loop bioelectronic med.cine to treat upper limb paralysis. In contrast to open-loop bioelectronic med.cines, closed.loop approaches trigger ‘on d.mand. peripheral nerve stimulation d.e to a change in function(e.g., d.ring an upper limb movement or a change in card.opulmonary state). We also outline our perspective on timing rules for closed.oop bioelectronic stimulation, interface features for non-invasively stimulating peripheral nerves, and.machine learning algorithms to recognize d.sease events for closed.loop stimulation control. Although there will be several challenges for this emerging field. we look forward.to future bioelectronic med.cines that can autonomously sense changes in the bod., to provid. closed.loop peripheral nerve stimulation and.treat d.sease.

Outcomes of Hemod.alysis Patients in Public Centres in Abid.an from September 2018 to October 2021: d.ta from the Renal Registry of Cote d.Ivoire

Background. Hemod.alysis is the most wid.ly used.renal replacement therapy in d.veloping countries such as Cote d.Ivoire. Objective: To stud. the outcome of chronic hemod.alysis patients in public centres in Abid.an using d.ta from the Renal Registry of Cote d.Ivoire (2RCI). Method. This was a prospective analytical cohort stud. of End.Stage Kid.ey d.sease (ESKd. patients und.rgoing iterative hemod.alysis in the network of public hemod.alysis centres in Abid.an and.who had.been registered.in the 2RCI register by September 2018. Results: Our stud. involved.363 cases out of 379 patients registered.in the 2RCI registry d.tabase in 2018. The mean age of the patients was 47.3 ± 12.1 years, with a male pred.minance (sex ratio 1.97). In 70.24% of cases, they had.no health insurance. The average d.ration of d.alysis for our patients was 6.94 ± 4.1 years, with extremes of 2 and.28 years. This d.ration was less than 5 years in 44.3% of cases, between 6 and.10 years in 42.9% and.more than 10 years in 12.6% of cases. The comorbid.ties found.were hypertension in 95.6% of cases, d.abetes in 7.8% and.HIV in 4.6%. Anemia was found.in 68% of cases and.stroke in 8.6%. d.ring the stud. period. 161 d.aths were observed. representing a mortality rate of 44.35%. Acute lung oed.ma (29.8%), stroke (6.8%) and.other card.ovascular d.seases (19.3%) were the main causes of d.ath. In multivariate analysis, factors such as age ≥ 65 years (HR = 3.66;CI 95% = 1.55 - 8.67;p = 0.003), “married.coupled. status (HR = 2.02;CI 95% = 1.24 - 3.31;p = 0.005) and.normal weight at the start of d.alysis (OR = 9.59, CI95% = 4.19 - 21.95;p = 0.001) were associated.with the risk of d.ath. Conclusion: Hemod.alysis is performed.in Abid.an on young patients. The mortality rate after three years of d.alysis is very high. Hence the need.to pursue the policy of d.centralizing public centres and.optimizing access to d.alysis in terms of quality and.quantity in ord.r to improve patient survival.

Vegetable oils are a source of energy, essential fatty acid., antioxid.nts and.fat-soluble vitamins useful for human health care and.d.velopment. These oils also contribute to organoleptic quality of their prod.cts’ d.rivatives. However, their chemical and.physical properties can be mod.fied.by the mod. of their extraction, storage and.d.stribution. These mod.fications might negatively affect the nutritional quality of the oils. The goals of this stud. were to: sample d.fferent vegetable oils for cosmetic or d.etary use marketed.in Cameroon, and.verify purity and.oxid.tion states of each kind.of oil through d.termination of its acid.ty, iod.ne, peroxid., saponification, refractive ind.xes and.the conformity of the labeling. The carotene content, the level of polar components and.specific absorbance were also d.termined. As the result, six oils namely palm, palm kernel, coconut, black cumin, peanut and.shea butter were collected. Apart from labeling, chemicals and.physicals parameters analyzed.were generally in accord.nce with the Cameroonian and.Cod.x Alimentarius stand.rd. This stud. suggests that vegetable oils sampled.in the Cameroonian market may not expose consumers to lipid.oxid.tion prod.cts generating pathological oxid.tive stress and.inflammation. However, efforts in application of existing stand.rd.need.to be d.ne as far as labeling are concerned.
