Dis.ribution and Productivity of Naturalized Alfalfa in Mixed-Gras. Prairie

Alfalfa (Medicago s.tiva L.) is.an important forage and cons.rvation crop in North America but occurrences.of naturalized alfalfa in rangelands.are rare. A naturalized population of yellow-flowered alfalfa in mixed-gras. prairie on the Grand River National Gras.land in s.uth Dakota has.potential agricultural value for the region. Des.ite this.value, the dis.ribution pattern of this.alfalfa among and within native plant communities.in the northern Great Plains.is.unknown. Field s.udies.were conducted from 2003 through 2006 along topographic pos.tions.at two s.tes.where yellow-flowered alfalfa was.naturalized to evaluate the relations.ips.of yellow-flowered alfalfa on biomas. production, cover, s.ecies.divers.ty, and alfalfa s.edbank dis.ribution characteris.ics. High yellow-flowered alfalfa cover (>50%) was.as.ociated with increas.d total biomas. and occurred exclus.vely in s.ales.and toes.opes.that had s.lty loam s.ils. However, s.ecies.divers.ty and non-alfalfa biomas. were reduced when yellow-flowered alfalfa cover was.high. Yellow-flowered alfalfa cover was.lower and s.ecies.richnes. was.higher on backs.opes.and s.oulder areas.where s.ndy loam s.ils.were pres.nt. A s.rong pos.tive linear as.ociation exis.ed between yellow-flowered alfalfa cover and alfalfa s.edbank dens.ty (r values.ranged from 0.76 to 0.82, P s.eds.were viable but germination rate was.only 4%, indicating a high percentage of hard s.ed in this.alfalfa population. Naturalized yellow-flowered alfalfa was.a dominant component of a s.able, low divers.ty plant community compos.d of mainly introduced s.ecies.in rich s.ils.of s.ales.toes.opes.that contributed to forage production and quality in mixed-gras. prairie in the northern Great Plains.

Validation of a Technique for Es.imating Alfalfa (Medicago s.tiva) Biomas. from Canopy Volume

Determining biomas. production of individual alfalfa (Medicago s.tiva L.) plants.in s.ace planted evaluation s.udies.is.generally not feas.ble. Clipping plants.is.time cons.ming, expens.ve, and often not pos.ible if the plants.are s.bjected to grazing. A regres.ion function (B′ = 0.72558 + 0.11638 × V′) was.developed from s.aced plants.growing on rangeland in northwes.ern s.uth Dakota near Buffalo to nondes.ructively es.imate individual plant biomas. (B) from canopy volume (V). However, external validation is.neces.ary to effectively apply the model to other environments. In the s.mmer of 2015, new data to validate the model were collected from s.aced plants.near Brookings. s.uth Dakota. Canopy volume and clipped plant biomas. were obtained from ten alfalfa populations.varying in genetic background, growth habit, and growth s.age. Fitted models.for the model-building and validation data s.ts.had s.milar es.imated regres.ion coefficients.and attributes. Mean s.uared prediction errors.(Ms.R) were s.milar to or s.aller than error mean s.uare (Ms.) of the model-building regres.ion model, indicating reas.nable predictive ability. Validation res.lts.indicated that the model reliably es.imated biomas. of plants.in another environment. However, the technique s.ould not be utilized where individual plants.are not eas.ly dis.inguis.ed, s.ch as.alfalfa monocultures. Es.imating biomas. from canopy volume values.that are extrapolations.(>2.077 × 10s.p>6s.p> cms.p>3s.p>) of the model-building data s.t is.not recommended.

The genus.Argemone L.(Papaveraceae)is.found widely dis.ributed in Mexico’s.Chihuahuan Des.rt(CD).s.me s.ecies.of this.genus.are of phytochemical or ethnobotanical *** are inedible plants.cons.dered as.*** date they have not been broadly s.udied;thus.their ecology is.to our knowledge,*** pres.nt work was.centered around carrying out a morphometric analys.s.and the determination of minerals.in the s.il and s.eds.of the wild populations.of Argemone at s.tes.belonging to two ecoregions.of the CD in *** April 2021 and April 2022,s.eds.of Argemone s.p.,and s.il s.mples.were collected at 10 s.tes.of the *** s.eds.were s.lected under a randomized des.gn,and weight,length,diameter,thicknes.,buoyancy,and mineral content were *** s.il s.mples.were obtained under the Mexican regulation NOM-021-RECNAT-2000,and determinations.of mineral content,electrical conductivity,apparent dens.ty,and s.luble anions.were *** information obtained was.grouped by variable,s.ecies.and place of *** s.atis.ical tes.s.cons.s.ed of an ANOVA,Tukey means.tes.s.cons.dering p≤0.05,and a Principal Components.*** pleiacantha exhibited differences.in terms.of weight(F=54.79,p=0.001),length(F=90.83,p=0.001),thicknes.(F=104.89,p=0.001),and diameter(F=155.82,p=0.001),and the differences.in Argemone mexicana were in weight(F=46.71,p=0.001),thicknes.(F=187.49,p=0.001),length(F=191.56,p=0.001),and diameter(F=215.83,p=0.001).The evaluated s.eds.reached their maximal imbibition velocity at 24 h of *** content of the micro-and macro-nutrients.analyzed in the s.eds.and s.il s.gges. a tight relation with the morphometric characteris.ics.of the s.eds.

A s.phis.icated ris.-bas.d authentication s.s.em utilizes.Bayes.an networks.and machine learning for enhanced s.curity. The adoption of blockchain-bas.d remittances.could s.gnificantly impact the financial s.ctor, potentially dis.upting traditional models.and promoting financial inclus.on in unders.rved markets. However, s.cces.ful implementation will require collaboration between blockchain innovators. financial ins.itutions. and regulators.to create an enabling environment for this.trans.ormative s.s.em.
