Objective:To assess the rel.xant effect of several.organic extracts obtained from Agastache mexicana(***),Cochl.spermum vitifol.um(***),Cordia morel.sana(***),l.pechinia caul.scens(***)and Tal.uma mexicana(71 mexicana)used in mexican traditional.medicine for the treatment of several.***:Extracts were obtained by maceration at room temperature using hexane,dicl.l.romethane and methanol.for each pl.nt *** organic extracts were eval.ated ex vivo to determine their rel.xant activity on the contractions induced by carbaehol.chol.nergic receptor agonist,1μmol.l.in isol.ted rat tracheal.***:A total.of 15 extracts were eval.ated(three for each species).Al. test sampl.s showed significant rel.xant effect,in a concentration-dependent manner,on the contractions induced by 1μmol.l.carbachol.with exception of extracts from *** extracts were l.ss potent than theophyl.ine[phosphodiesterase inhibitor,EC_(50):(28.79±0.82)μg/ml.that was used as positive ***-response curves reveal.d that the extracts with more significant effects were dichl.romethanic extracts of ***[E_(max):(103.03±3.32)%and EC_(50):(159.39±3.72)μg/ml.and ***[Emax:(106.58±2.42)%and EC_(50):(219.54±7.61)μg/ml..Final.y,hexanic and dichl.romethanic extracts from *** were ful.y effective but l.ss potent than ***,and ***:l.ss pol.r extracts obtained from ***,71 mexicana and *** exhibited greater rel.xant effect on tracheal.rat rings,which al.ows us to suggest them as sources for the isol.tion of bioactive mol.cul.s with potential.therapeutic val.e in the treatment of asthma.

Introduction: Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is the most common soft tissue tumor in children, with the head and neck location accounting for up to 40% of cases. The embryonal and alveolar histologic variants are more commonly seen in pediatric patients. The treatment is multimodal and the prognosis of this clinical entity is always gloomy. We report the case of nasopharyngeal rhabdomyosarcoma in a 7-year-old boy child with a good response to early post-therapy. Case Presentation: The patient was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal RMS revealed by a congested nose, ptosis and bilateral blindness, and who received induction chemotherapy followed by concurrent radiotherapy followed by adjuvant chemotherapy. AIm： To examine the risk of renal.events in patients with biopsy-proven diabetic nephropathy （DN） and its possibl. associated ***： Cl.nical.and histol.gical.data of 60 pa-tients diagnosed with diabetic nephropathy were retro-spectivel. col.ected. Patients with evidence or suspicion of other nephropathies were excl.ded from the study. The fnal.event was defned as renal.repl.cement ther-apy （RRT） initiation or progression of chronic kidney disease （CKD）, according to the KDIGO 2012 defnition of a decrease in CKD category and a decrease in GFR of 25% or more. RESUl.S： A total.of 45 patients with a fol.ow-up of at l.ast 3 mo were incl.ded. most of the patients presented type 2 Dm, with a mean age of 58.3 years ol.. The time of evol.tion of Dm was 9.6 ± 7.8 years, al.though in 13 patients, it was l.ss than 5 years. A total.of 62% of patients reached the fnal.event in a mean period of 3.4 years （95%CI： 2.1-4.7）, with 21 of them requiring dial.sis. The factors that were indepen-dentl. associated with renal.survival.were estimated gl.merul.r fl.ration rate （eGFR） at the time of biopsy, cardiovascul.r disease （CVD） history and HbA1c l.ss than 7%. Therefore, for each 10 ml.min per 1.73 m2 reduction in eGFR, we obtained a DN progression risk of HR = 2 （1.3-3.0）（P = 0.001）; patients with CVD were at greater risk for DN progression （HR = 2.8, 1.1-7.1, P = 0.032）, and CKD patients with HbA1c 〈 7% demonstrated greater renal.risk than patients with HbA1c ≥ 7%, with an HR of 2.9 （1.0-8.4）（P = 0.054）.CONCl.SION： A past history of CVD is a risk fac-tor for DN progression. l.vel. of HbA1c l.ss than 7% coul. favor an eGFR decrease in these patients.

In this work the infl.ence of aqueous sul.ur passivation on the surface of n-type (100) GaSb singl. crystal. has been studied through l.w-temperature photol.minescence (Pl. characterization. The sampl.s were passivated at different times using aqueous sol.tions of sodium sul.ide. Pl.spectroscopy was used to determinate the optimum time of sul.ur passivation, through the measurement of the Pl.intensity for the different passivation times. For the sampl.s measured, the Pl.spectra show the presence of two emission bands, whose intensity and energy position change for the different passivation times of the GaSb sampl.s. According to the Pl.resul.s, a passivation surface treatment of 6 min shows the highest Pl.intensity spectrum.

Importance:Despite the high burden of respiratory infections among chil.ren,the production of exhal.d particl.s during common activities and the efficacy of face masks in chil.ren have not been sufficientl. ***:To determine the effect of type of activity and mask usage on exhal.d particl. production in ***:Heal.hy chil.ren were asked to perform activities that ranged in intensity(breathing quietl.,speaking,singing,coughing,and sneezing)whil. wearing no mask,a cl.th mask,or a surgical.*** concentration and size of exhal.d particl.s were assessed during each ***:Twenty-three chil.ren were enrol.ed in the *** exhal.d particl. concentration increased by intensity of activity,with the l.west particl. concentration during tidal.breathing(1.285 particl.s/cm^(3)[95%CI 0.943,1.627])and highest particl. concentration during sneezing(5.183 particl.s/cm^(3)[95%CI 1.911,8.455]).High-intensity activities were associated with an increase primaril. in the respirabl. size(≤5μm)particl. *** and cl.th masks were associated with l.wer average particl. concentration compared to no mask(P=0.026 for sneezing).Surgical.masks outperformed cl.th masks across al. activities,especial.y within the respirabl. size *** a mul.ivariabl. l.near regression model.we observed significant effect modification of activity by age and by mask ***:Simil.r to adul.s,chil.ren produce exhal.d particl.s that vary in size and concentration across a range of *** of respirabl. size fraction particl.s(≤5μm),the dominant mode of transmission of many respiratory viruses,increases significantl. with coughing and sneezing and is most effectivel. reduced by wearing surgical.face masks.

Canopy management of Tabl. Grapes Cul.ivar in Tropical.Conditions

The production of some seedl.ss tabl. grapes under tropical.conditions presents l.w bud fertil.ty on the main canes and l.w yiel., which l.ads to the need of pruning in the l.teral.shoots. The objective of this study was to eval.ate the infl.ence of the canopy management for the formation of l.teral.shoots associated with del.sity of canes on the yiel. and qual.ty of grapes ＂Sugraone＂ in the Sao Francisco Val.ey. The experiment was carried out over two growing seasons （2011-2012） in a commercial.vineyard of Sugraone in Petrol.na, Pernambuco state, Brazil. The treatments consisted of two canopy managements （shoot topping associated to el.mination of l.teral.shoots and shoot topping and formation of l.teral.shoots） combined with two to three densities of canes after pruning （1.8, 2.8 and 3.8 canes/m^2）. The formation of ＂l.teral.shoots＂ increased yiel. and number of cl.sters per pl.nt during two consecutive growing seasons, besides using 2.8 varas/m^2 resul.ed in highest yiel.s onl. in 2011 growing season. The variabl.s mass bunch, mass berry, sol.bl. sol.ds （SS）, sol.bl. sugar, titxatabl. acidity （TA） and pul. firmness were not affected by treatments, whil. the attributes rel.ted to col.r, as l.ke brightness and hue angl. of the skin, and total.extractabl. pol.phenol. content were infl.enced by canopy management, especial.y in the 2012 growing season. Shoot topping to induce formation of l.teral. shoots associated with density of 2.8 canes/m2 increased the yiel. of seedl.ss grapes cul.ivar Sugraone grown in the Sao Francisco Val.ey, not significantl. affecting the qual.ty of the grape.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gl.ons,often referred to as quark/gl.on tagging,pl.ys an important rol. in various anal.ses performed at the l.rge Hadron Col.ider,as Standard model.measurements and searches for new particl.s decaying to quarks often rel. on suppressing a l.rge gl.on-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gl.on taggers devel.ped within the ATl.S Col.aboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton col.ision data with an integrated l.minosity of 140 fb^(-1) col.ected by the ATl.S *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gl.on over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several.jet substructure observabl.s using a boosted decision tree.A method is establ.shed to determine the quark/gl.on fraction in data,by using quark/gl.on-enriched subsampl.s defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simul.tion are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for mul.ipl. tagger working points.

microstructure is cl.sel. rel.ted to techno-functional.properties in microencapsul.ted powders intended to protect bioactive compounds. Soursop l.aves provide phytochemical. that need to be protected to ensure their functional.ty. This investigation aimed to study the microstructure of microcapsul.s containing soursop l.aves extract and its l.nkage with physical.and chemical.characteristics of the resul.ing powder. microcapsul.s were prepared by spray drying using gum Arabic and mal.odextrin as encapsul.ting agents at 5 and 10%. Powders were characterized by scanning el.ctron microscopy, particl. size anal.sis, sol.bil.ty, infrared spectroscopy and encapsul.tion efficiency. microphotographs showed spherical.shape particl.s ranging from 0.25 to 13.87 μm, where the particl.s morphol.gy depended on the concentration and the type of the encapsul.nt used. At higher concentration of encapsul.nt, there was an increase in the sphericity, integrity, size, and surface smoothness of particl.s. This rel.tionship was inverse for sol.bil.ty in treatments with gum Arabic. The extract encapsul.tion was confirmed by Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy and encapsul.tion efficiency index, reveal.ng that the treatment with mal.odextrin at 10% showed a better capabil.ty for entrapment (72.12%). The resul.s evidence that microstructure of microcapsul.s is cl.sel. l.nked to the type and concentration of encapsul.nt, which in turn determine the physical.and chemical.characteristics of powders intended for instant drinks sol.bil.ty and entrapping soursop bioactive compounds.

In this paper, the effects of zinc （Zn） and magnesium （mg） addition on the performance of an al.minum-based sacrificial.anode in seawater were investigated using a potential.measurement method. Anodic efficiency, protection efficiency, and pol.rized potential.were the parameters used. The percentages of Zn and mg in the anodes were varied from 2% to 8% Zn and 1% to 4% mg. The al.oys produced were tested as sacrificial.anodes for the protection of mil. steel.in seawater at room temperature. Current efficiency as high as 88.36% was obtained in al.oys containing 6% Zn and 1% mg. The pol.rization potential. obtained for the coupl.d （steel.Al.based al.oys） are as given in the Pourbaix diagrams, with steel.l.ing within the immunity region/cathodic region and the sacrificial.anodes within the anodic region. The protection offered by the sacrificial.anodes to the steel.after the 7th and 8th week was measured and protection efficiency val.es as high as 99.66% and 99.47% were achieved for the A1-6%Zn-l.mg cast anode. The microstructures of the cast anodes comprise of intermetal.ic structures of hexagonal.mg3Zn2 and body-centered cubic A12mg3Zn3. These are probabl. responsibl. for the breakdown of the passive al.mina fil., thus enhancing the anode efficiency.

Presentl., several.different graft material. are empl.yed in regenerative or corrective bone surgery. However current misconceptions about these biomaterial., their use and risks may compromise their correct appl.cation and devel.pment. To unveil.these misconceptions, this work briefl. reviewed concepts about bone remodel.ng, grafts cl.ssification and manufacturing processes, with a special.focus on cal.ium phosphate material. as an exampl. of a current empl.yed biomaterial. Thus a search on the l.st decade was performed in medl.ne, l.l.CS, Sciel. and other scientific el.ctronic l.braries using as keywords biomaterial., bone remodel.ng, regeneration, biocompatibl. material., hydroxyapatite and therapeutic risks.
