Corynespora cassiicola is the causal agent of Corynespora Leaf Fall(CLF)*** is one of the most important fungal d.seases of rubber trees in Asia and.Africa but d.sease outbreaks have not been reported.in South ***,a small cysteine-rich glycoprotein secreted.by the pathogenic *** isolate CCP,was previously id.ntified.as a potential d.sease effector in rubber ***,the cassiicolin-encod.ng gene(Cas1)was characterized.and.shown to be expressed.in the early phase of *** this stud.,we investigated.whether previously und.tected.strains of *** are present in South American rubber plantations by examining the fungal end.phyte population found.in asymptomatic rubber tree *** isolates were id.ntified.as *** encod.ng new forms of the cassiicolin precursor protein(Cas3 and.Cas4)were id.ntified.from these *** of four isolates were able to ind.ce symptoms on the cultivar they were isolated.from in a d.tached.leaf assay,with d.fferent kinetics and.*** isolate had.the same pathogenicity profile as the pathogenic isolate CCP;the other two isolates d.veloped.symptoms late d.ring the course of infection,suggesting saprotrophic ***,no Cas3 or Cas4 transcripts could.be d.tected.upon inoculation with the end.phytic isolates,whereas the reference gene Cas1 was expressed.upon inoculation with the CCP *** work d.monstrated.that *** is present in South America in an end.phytic form and.that it may evolve from an end.phytic to a saprophytic or even potentially pathogenic life style.

Potential Use of a Poultry Manure d.gestate as a Biofertiliser:Evaluation of Soil Properties and.Lactuca sativa Growth

Anaerobic d.gestion is a process that is wid.ly used.for the treatment of organic wastes. The d.gestate can be used.as a soil amend.ent or crop fertiliser. The aims of our work were to evaluate 1) the physicochemical composition and.pathogen content in a d.gestate from poultry manure, accord.ng to international regulations, and.2) the effect of its soil application on the major chemical and.biological soil properties and.on the growth of Lactuca sativa. The experiment consisted.of two groups of pots(with and.without crop). Treatments applied.to each group were as follows: low and.high d.ses of d.gestate and.inorganic fertiliser, and.no application(control)(low d.se: 70 kg nitrogen(N) ha^(-1) and.21 kg phosphorus(P) ha^(-1); high d.se: 210 kg N ha^(-1) and.63 kg P ha^(-1)). Soil samples were taken 7 and.34 d.harvest) after treatment applications. Heavy metal and.pathogen contents in the d.gestate were below the upper limit values. d.spite the high pH and.electrical cond.ctivity values of the d.gestate, both soil parameters presented.acceptable values for crop growth. Although there were no initial increases in total inorganic N and.available P in soil with d.gestate application, an increase in the fresh weight of crop was observed.with the high d.se application. This is probably associated.with the slow nutrient release from the d.gestate d.ring the d.velopment of the crop. Changes in the microbial community were temporary and.occurred.at the initial sampling stage of the experiment.

Loco-regional recurrences and.d.stant metastases represent the main cause of head.and.neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC) mortality. The overexpression of chemokine receptor 4(CXCR4) in HNSCC primary tumors associates with higher risk of d.veloping loco-regional recurrences and.d.stant metastases, thus making CXCR4 an id.al entry pathway for targeted.d.ug d.livery. In this context, our group has generated.the self-assembling protein nanocarrier T22-GFP-H6, d.splaying multiple T22 peptid.c ligand. that specifically target CXCR4. This stud. aimed.to valid.te T22-GFP-H6 as a suitable nanocarrier to selectively d.liver cytotoxic agents to CXCR4^(+)tumors in a HNSCC mod.l. Here we d.monstrate that T22-GFP-H6 selectively internalizes in CXCR4^(+)HNSCC cells, achieving a high accumulation in CXCR4^(+)tumors in vivo, while showing negligible nanocarrier d.stribution in non-tumor bearing organs. Moreover, this T22-empowered.nanocarrier can incorporate bacterial toxin d.mains to generate therapeutic nanotoxins that ind.ce cell d.ath in CXCR4-overexpressing tumors in the absence of histological alterations in normal organs. Altogether, these results show the potential use of this T22-empowered.nanocarrier platform to incorporate polypeptid.c d.mains of choice to selectively eliminate CXCR4^(+)cells in HNSCC. Remarkably, to our knowled.e, this is the first stud. testing targeted.proteinonly nanoparticles in this cancer type, which may represent a novel treatment approach for HNSCC patients.

目前用于心脑血管系统疾病的计算机辅助诊断系统比较少,本研究基于参加欧盟FP7 euHeart项目所做的工作,以对主动脉缩窄的处理为例,介绍一个基于核磁共振成像(MRI)和血流动力学计算的心脑血管疾病计算机辅助诊断系统,对系统的结构、功能和工作流程进行详细描述。该系统以患者病变血管的MRI图像和在颈动脉和股动脉处测得的血压波形为输入信息,通过图像处理模块、生理数据处理模块、计算网格生成模块以及流体动力学计算模块对这些数据进行分析处理,输出跨缩窄段的压差以辅助评估对患者进行干预手术的必要性,并输出病变血管段的流速分布、剪切应力分布等血流状态信息用于估算血流异常对血管内皮以及血细胞造成潜在机械损伤的程度。以一个典型病例的处理结果为例,对所开发的系统进行初步测试,结果表明所开发的系统运行结果准确可靠。本系统对于开发其他心脑血管疾病计算机辅助诊断系统具有借鉴意义。

Physical aging is currently a major obstacle for the commercialization of PIM-1 membranes for gas separation applications.A well-known approach to reversing physical aging effects of PIM-1 membranes at laboratory scale is soaking them in lower alcohols,such as methanol and.***,this proced.re d.es not seem applicable at ind.strial level,and.other strategies must be *** this work,a regeneration method.with alcohol vapors(ethanol or methanol)was d.veloped.to recover permeability of aged.PIM-1 membranes,in comparison with the conventional soaking-in-liquid.*** gas permeability and.separation performance,before and.post the regeneration method.,were assessed.using a binary mixture of CO_(2) and.CH_(4)(1:1,v:v).Our results show that an 8-hour methanol vapor treatment was sufficient to recover the original gas permeability,reaching a CO_(2) permeability>7000 barrer.

Seasonal variability of d.ssolved.and.particulate methylmercury（F-MeHg, P-MeHg） concentrations was stud.ed.in the waters of the Amazon River and.its associated.Curuai flood.lain d.ring hyd.ological year 2005–2006, to und.rstand.the MeHg exchanges between these aquatic systems. In the oxic white water lakes, with neutral pH, high F-MeHg and.P-MeHg concentrations were measured.d.ring the rising water stage（0.70 ± 0.37 pmol/L, n = 26） and.flood.peak（14.19 ± 9.32 pmol/g, n = 7） respectively, when the Amazon River water d.scharge into the lakes was at its maximum. The lowest mean values were reported.d.ring the d.y season（0.18 ± 0.07 pmol/L F-MeHg, n = 10 and.1.35 ± 1.24 pmol/g P-MeHg, n = 8）, when water and.suspend.d.sed.ments were outflowing from the lakes into the River. In these lakes,the MeHg concentrations were associated.to the aluminium and.organic carbon/nitrogen changes. In the black water lakes, with acid.c pH and.red.cing cond.tions, elevated.MeHg concentrations were record.d.0.58 ± 0.32 pmol/L F-MeHg, n = 16 and.19.82 ± 15.13 pmol/g PMeHg, n = 6）, and.correlated.with the organic carbon and.manganese concentrations. Elevated.values of MeHg partition coefficient（4.87 〈 Kd. 5.08 log（L/kg） ind.cate that MeHg is mainly transported.associated.with the particulate phase. The P-MeHg enrichment d.tected.in all lakes suggests autochthonous MeHg inputs from the sed.ments into the water column. The MeHg mass balance showed.that the Curuai flood.lain is not the source of P-MeHg for the Amazon River.
