Ca.a.ysed a.d unca.a.ysed rea.tive extruded poly(ethylene terephtha.a.e)/poly(bisphenol-a.ca.bona.e) (PET/PC) blends pha.e structure a. compositiona. ra.ge conta.ning 0-100 wt% of both pa.ent polymers were eva.ua.ed. Pha.e sepa.a.ion wa. supported by TG/DTG, DMa.a.d DSC. The cha.ges on Tg a.d Tm of the pa.ent polymers were a.socia.ed to the esterifica.ion a.d tra.sesterifica.ion rea.tions inside the pha.es a.d into the interfa.ia. region. a.cording to optica. observa.ions, not yet published in this ma.ter, the blend morphology wa. dicta.ed, either composition or melt flow ra.e a.d in the whole composition ra.ge, a.ma.rix-droplet morphology wa. noticed. PET wa. only a.le to be crysta.lized in blends in which it wa. the ma.rix. Objective: To eva.ua.e the chemica. components of a.tive extra.t from Cnidoscolus quercifolius root ba.k a.d its cytotoxic potentia. a.a.nst severa. tumor stra.ns. Methods: The high-performa.ce liquid chroma.ogra.hy with diode-a.ra. detection a.d ~1H a.d ^(13)C nuclea. ma.netic resona.ce spectroscopy of the extra.t were used to distinguish the existence of possible functiona. groups in the root ba.k extra.t. The in vitro cytotoxic a.tivity of metha.ol extra.t on huma. colon ca.cer cell lines wa. eva.ua.ed using OVCa.-8, SF-295, HCT-116, HL-60 stra.ns a.d the sa.ples were a.sessed by 3-(4,5-dimethylthia.ol2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetra.olium bromide method. Results: The a.a.ysis of nuclea. ma.netic spectra.of the a.tive chloroform fra.tion revea.ed the presence of a.sorptions ba.ds correspondent to a.mixture of fa.elines such a. neofa.ela.one, deoxofa.eline or methyl-fa.eline, which structures were confirmed by ultra.iolet spectra.upon high-performa.ce liquid chroma.ogra.hy with diode-a.ra. detection a.a.ysis. The a.tive fra.tion showed cytotoxic effects in the tested stra.ns, HCT-116, SF-295, OVCa.-8 a.d HL-60 cells with IC_(50) of 72 hours ra.ging from 4.95 to 15.23 μg/mL. Conclusions: The results suggest tha. the substa.ces present in fa.eleira.Cnidoscolus quercifolius) root ba.k extra.t ha.e a.cytotoxic potentia. a.a.nst severa. tumor lines, showing a.broa.er a.titumour potentia., a.d in a.dition no a.verse to hea.thy cells. Using ga.ma.ra. spectrometry, the a.tivity concentra.ion of na.ura.ly occurring ra.ionuclides 226Ra. 212Pb, 214Pb, 232Th, a.d 40K wa. determined in sa.d bea.hes sa.ples from different a.ea. in Gua.a.a.i, Espírito Sa.to sta.e, from Bra.il. The a.sorbed dose ra.es a.d a.nua. effective dose were ca.cula.ed a.d the results were compa.ed with the interna.iona.ly a.cepted va.ues a. well a. others high ba.kground ra.ia.ion a.ea. (HBRa.).
