Flow through submerged rigid vegetation has been studied both analytically and *** Reynolds stress,present in the governing equation,has been modeled using one of the turbulent stress equations,adopted in numerous *** adva ntage of this turbulent stress model is to replace the mixing length non linear term of the stress with a linear relatio n between stress and the velocity *** velocity field and shear stress are obtained by solving the governing force balance equation numerically.A correlation,validated with the experimental results,has been developed for the relevant non-dimensional numbers.

A travel recommendation system based on social media activity provides a customized place of interest to accommodate user-specific needs and preferences. In general, the user’s inclination towards travel destinations is subject to change over time. In this project, we have analyzed users’ twitter data, as well as their friends and followers in a timely fashion to understand recent travel interest. A machine learning classifier identifies tweets relevant to travel. The travel tweets are then used to obtain personalized travel recommendations. Unlike most of the personalized recommendation systems, our proposed model takes into account a user’s most recent interest by incorporating time-sensitive recency weight into the model. Our proposed model has outperformed the existing personalized place of interest recommendation model, and the overall accuracy is 75.23%.

Thirty-six polyurethane foam disk passive air samplers （PUF-PAS） were deployed over a year during January to december, 2009 at three locations, i.e., Imphal （urban site）, Thoubal （rural site） and Waithou （alpine site） of Manipur, to assess the seasonal local atmospheric emission of selected organochlorine pesticides （OCPs）. The average concentration of HCHs monitored at mountain site during hot season （Mar, Apr, and May） and rainy seasons （Jun, Jul, Aug, and Sep） were 403 and 349 pg/m3, respectively. DDTs had a high concentration with 384 pg/m3 at rural site and 379 pg/m3 at urban site during hot seasons. Endosulfans and chlordane were found high in concentration during hot seasons （260 pg/m3） and low during retreating monsoon seasons （44 pg/m3） at rural site. Most of the OCPs concentrations were high during cultivation period. The OCP concentrations of rainy season were highly correlated （p 〈 0.01） with OCPs of hot seasons. Further, positive correlation （p 〈 0.05） was also obtained between cold seasons and retreating monsoon. Principal component analysis showed a significant correlation among the four seasons and distribution pattern of OCPs in air. Back trajectory analysis by using HYPSLIT model showed a long range air transport of OCPs to the present study area. Present OCP levels at Manipur is an outcome of both local emission and also movement of air mass by long range atmospheric transport.

Goblet cell carcinoid is an enigmatic and rare tumor involving the appendix almost exclusively. Since its identification in 1969, understanding of this disease has evolved greatly, but issues regarding its histogenesis, nomenclature and management are still conjectural. The published English language literature from 1966 to 2009 was retrieved via PubMed and reviewed. Various other names have been used for this entity such as adenocarcinoid, mucinous carcinoid, crypt cell carcinoma, and mucin-producing neuroendocrine tumor, although none have been found to be completely satisfactory or universally accepted. The tumor is thought to arise from pluripotent intestinal epithelial crypt-base stem cells by dual neuroendocrine and mucinous differentiation. GCCs present in the fifth to sixth decade and show no definite sex predominance. The most common clinical presentation is acute appendicitis, followed by abdominal pain and a mass. Fifty percent of the female patients present with ovarian metastases. The histologic hallmark of this entity is the presence of clusters of goblet cells in the lamina propria or submucosa stain for various neuroendocrine markers, though the intensity is often patchy. Atypia is usually minimal, but carcinomatous growth patterns may be seen. These may be of signet ring cell type or poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma. Recently molecular studies have shown these tumors to lack the signatures of adenocarcinoma but they have some changes similar to that of ileal carcinoids (allelic loss of chromosome 11q, 16q and 18q). The natural history of GCC is intermediate between carcinoids and adenocarcinomas of the appendix. The 5-year overall survival is 76%. The most important prognostic factor is the stage of disease. Appendectomy and right hemicolectomy are the main modalities of treatment, followed by adjuvant chemotherapy in select cases.
