Mulberry thrips Pseudodendrothrips mori (niwa, 1908) is a major pest of mulberry trees recorded from different sericultural regions of the world. The thrips infestation affects the qualitative and quantitative characters of mulberry leaf, by direct feeding damage to leaves and the ingestion of sap, which in turn affects the silkworm cocoon crop. This is most harmful in dry climates and seasons when heavily attacked plants lose moisture heavily. Under these conditions infestation can seriously deplete yields. The seasonal population fluctuation and the degree of damage caused to the host plant are influenced by various environmental factors including climate, host-plant variety, topography, soil type, and management *** article attempts to review all available documents on mulberry thrips and to discuss the practical approaches for best control of this pest.

In this paper, an efficient technique for optimal design of digital infinite impulse response （IIR） filter with minimum passband error （ep）, minimum stopband error （es）, high stopband attenuation （As）, and also free from limit cycle effect is proposed using cuckoo search （CS） algorithm. In the proposed method, error function, which is multi-model and non-differentiable in the heuristic surface, is constructed as the mean squared difference between the designed and desired response in frequency domain, and is optimized using CS algorithm. Computational efficiency of the proposed technique for exploration in search space is examined, and during exploration, stability of filter is maintained by considering lattice representation of the denominator polynomials, which requires less computational complexity as well as it improves the exploration ability in search space for designing higher filter taps. A comparative study of the proposed method with other algorithms is made, and the obtained results show that 90% reduction in errors is achieved using the proposed method. However, computational complexity in term of CPU time is increased as compared to other existing algorithms.

Transposable element-based molecular markers can be utilized to investigate genetic diversity and to create genetic linkage *** this study,Class I and class II transposons were employed to obtain a comparative account of genetic diversity between wild and cultivated barley *** types of PCR-based techniques were used:IMP(Inter MITE Polymorphism),IRAP(Inter-Retrotransposon Amplified Polymorphism)and REMAP(Retrotransposon-Microsatellite Amplified Polymorphism).Specific primer pairs for IMP,IRAP,and REMAP detected a total of 200 bands with an average of 20 bands per *** mean polymorphic information content(PIC)and discrimination power(D)values in all 47 genotypes from these three types of transposon-based polymorphisms were 0.910 and0.935,*** Pair Group Method with Arithmetic mean(UPGMA)-based cluster analysis classified all 47 genotypes,both wild and cultivated,into separate groups consistent with their geographical *** followed by chromosome location of polymorphic bands enables precise gene introgression from wild gene pool to cultivated *** highly polymorphic nature of these marker systems makes them suitable for use in varietal identification and MAS-based breeding programs in barley and other cereals.

Polymethylmethacrylat-graft-polybisphenol A-carbonate （PMMA-G-PC） with 50% grafting is synthesized. The graft co-polymerization of methyhnethacrylate （0.036 mol. lit-1） onto polybisphenol-A-carbonate （0.5 g） in the presence of a redox couple formed from potassium persulphate （40 mol-lit-1） and thio-urea （30 mmol. lit-1） in aqueous nitric acid （0.18 M, 100 ml） in air at （45±2）℃ for 3.0 h. Condensation of （PMMA-G-PC） with n- [p-（carboxyl phenyl amino acetic acid）] hydrazide （PCPH） affords polybisphenol-A-carbonate-graft-polymethylmethacrylate hydrazide （PCGH）. The photoacoustic （PA） spectra of （PCGH） are recorded in a wavelength range from 200 nm to 800 nm at a modulation frequency of 22 Hz, and compared with those of pure polybisphenol-A-carbonate （PC）, （PMMA-G-PC） and （PCPH）. In the present work, a non-destructive and non-contact analytical method, namely the photoacoustic technique, is successfully implemented for optical and thermal characterization of selected polymeric materials. The indigenous PA spectrometer used in the present study consists of a 300-W xenon arc lamp, a lock-in amplifier, a chopper, a （1/8）-m monochromator controlled by computer and a home-made PA cell.

BiCuTiO(BCTO) ceramic was synthesized by the semi-wet route using metal nitrate solutions and solid TiOpowder in a stoichiometric ratio. Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) study of BCTO precursor powder and calcined ceramic showed the presence of alcoholic functional groups and the stretching band of Ti-O and Cu-O respectively. X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscope(SEM) and energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy(EDX) were employed to characterize the structure, surface morphology and purity of the sintered BCTO ceramic respectively. X-ray diffraction study confirmed the single phase formation of BCTO ceramic at1073 K. The average dimension of grains calculated by SEM and AFM was found to be in the range of 0.73 ±0.2 μm with clear grain boundaries. Magnetic property was investigated over a wide temperature range 2–300 K at a magnetic field of 7 tesla. The Curie temperature was calculated by zero field cooled(M) and field cooled(M) magnetization at 100 Oe applied field which was found to be 125 K. The sintered BCTO ceramic shows high dielectric constant(ε’=2.9×10~4) at 323 K and 100 Hz.

Automatic plant classification through plant leaf is a classical problem in Computer *** classification is challenging due to the introduction of new species with a similar pattern and *** efforts are made to automate plant classification using plant leaf,plant flower,bark,or *** much effort,it has been proven that leaf is the most reliable source for plant *** it is challenging to identify a plant with the help of leaf structure because plant leaf shows similarity in morphological variations,like sizes,textures,shapes,and ***,it is required to normalize all plant leaves into the same size to get better *** neural networks(Cnn)provides a fair amount of accuracy when leaves are classified using this *** the performance can be improved by classifying using the traditional approach after applying *** this paper,two approaches,namely Cnn+Support Vector Machine(SVM)and Cnn+K-nearest neighbors(knn)used on 3 datasets,namely LeafSnap dataset,Flavia Dataset,and MalayaKew *** datasets are augmented to take care all the *** assessments and correlations of the predetermined feature extractor models are ***+knn managed to reach maximum accuracy of 99.5%,97.4%,and 80.04%,respectively,in the three datasets.

Rockfall is one of severe natural hazards that are frequently reported in northeast region of India. It carries rock block falling from the cliff with high velocities and energies which can result in damages to vehicles, disruption to transportation, injuries and fatalities. The massive rockfall event which occurred in April 2017 on the highway nH-44 A, near Lengpui Airport, blocked the traffic for 1 d, and fortunately,no casualties were reported as the event occurred in the night. This is the only highway connecting the Aizawl city to the airport and the region is highly prone to rockfall events. Hence assessment of rockfall along this highway is necessary. In the current study, rockfall hazard assessment has been carried out on three locations by rockfall hazard rating system(RHRS). During pre-failure analysis, the result shows that most hazardous slopes have RHRS score of 639. The slopes were found to be vulnerable and later on the rockfall activity occurred. Three-dimensional(3 D) stability analysis has been carried out using 3 DEC software package to analyze the failure behavior and to decide the rockfall-prone zone(unstable blocks)for slope. The total displacement of 2.24 cm and velocity of 2,25 mm/s of the failed block have been observed in the numerical analysis. Further, the rockfall vulnerable zone(unstable blocks) is considered to determine the parameters such as run-out distance, bounce height and energies of the falling rock blocks. The maximum total kinetic energy of 5047 kJ has been observed in the numerical analysis with the maximum run-out distance up to 18 m.

A12.24km long tunnel between Maroshi and Ruparel College is being excavated by tunnel boring machine(TBM)to improve the water supply system of Greater Mumbai,*** this paper,attempt has been made to establish the relationship between various litho-units of Deccan traps,stability of tunnel and TBM performances during the construction of5.83km long tunnel between Maroshi and *** Maroshi–Vakola tunnel passes under the Mumbai Airport and crosses both runways with an overburden cover of *** tunneling work was carried out without disturbance to the *** rock types encountered during excavation arefine compacted basalt,porphyritic basalt,amygdaloidal basalt pyroclastic rocks with layers of red boles and intertrappean beds consisting of various types of shales Relations between rock mass properties,physico-mechanical properties,TBM specifications and the cor responding TBM performance were established.A number of support systems installed in the tunne during excavation were also *** aim of this paper is to establish,with appropriate accuracy the nature of subsurface rock mass condition and to study how it will react to or behave during under ground excavation by *** experiences gained from this project will increase the ability to cope with unexpected ground conditions during tunneling using TBM.
