Optical imaging in the second near-infrared(NIR-Ⅱ; 900–1880 nm) window is currently a popular research topic in the field of biomedical imaging. This study aimed to explore the application value of NIR-Ⅱ fluorescence imaging in foot and ankle surgeries. A lab-established NIR-Ⅱ fluorescence surgical navigation system was developed and used to navigate foot and ankle surgeries which enabled obtaining more high-spatial-frequency information and a higher signal-to-background ratio(SBR) in NIR-Ⅱ fluorescence images compared to NIR-I fluorescence images; our result demonstrates that NIR-Ⅱ imaging could provide higher-contrast and larger-depth images to surgeons. Three types of clinical application scenarios(diabetic foot, calcaneal fracture, and lower extremity trauma) were included in this study. Using the NIR-Ⅱ fluorescence imaging technique, we observed the ischemic region in the diabetic foot before morphological alterations, accurately determined the boundary of the ischemic region in the surgical incision,and fully assessed the blood supply condition of the flap. NIR-Ⅱ fluorescence imaging can help surgeons precisely judge surgical margins, detect ischemic lesions early, and dynamically trace the perfusion process. We believe that portable and reliable NIR-Ⅱ fluorescence imaging equipment and additional functional fluorescent probes can play crucial roles in precision surgery.

The presence of inflammation in dry eye disease(DED)results in increased patient symptomatology,ocular surface damage and worsening tear *** also affects the health of meibomian glands and their secretions which further aggravates ocular surface *** article reviews current knowledge regarding ocular surface inflammation in DED and explores the relationships between the vicious cycles of DED,inflammation and meibomian gland dysfunction(MGD).The clinical evaluation of eyes with such changes,markers that identify the presence of inflammation on the ocular surface and current treatment options are discussed.

AIM: To characterise expression of known E-cadherin repressors; Snail, Slug and Twist in the development of esophageal adenocarcinoma. METHODS: E-cadherin, Slug, Snail and Twist mRNA expression in Barrett's metaplasia and esophageal adenocarcinoma specimens was examined by real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Semi-quantitative immunohistochemistry was used to examine cellular localisation and protein levels. The effect of Slug on epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) markers was examined by transfection of Slug into an adenocarcinoma line ***: Cellular localisation of Slug in Barrett's metaplasia was largely cytoplasmic whilst in adenocarcinoma it was nuclear. Semi-quantitative analysis indicated that Slug was more abundant in adenocarcinoma compared to matched Barrett's metaplastic specimens. Snail and Twist were expressed in adenocarcinoma but were cytoplasmic in location and not induced compared to Barrett's mucosa. These observations were supported by mRNA studies where only Slug mRNA was shown to be over-expressed in adenocarcinoma and inversely correlated to E-cadherin expression. Overexpression of Slug in OE33 mediated E-cadherin repression and induced the mesenchymal markers vimentin and ***: Progression to adenocarcinoma is associated with increased Slug expression and this may represent a mechanism of E-cadherin silencing.

Environmental variables play a crucial role in shaping vegetation structure,mainly in mountainous *** studies have attempted to identify the environment-vegetation relationship of Conifer Dominating Forests(CDF)***,due to differences in local climate and soil composition,different environmental drivers can be *** applying multivariate analysis techniques,this study investigated the vegetation-environment relationship of CDF of Indus Kohistan in northern *** results showed that CDF of Indus Kohistan are distributed in five distinct ecological groups,which are dominated by different trees and understory species.A total of 7 trees and 71 understory species were recorded from the sampling *** deodara was the leading species among four groups,having the highest importance value(IV),density and basal *** I was dominated by Pinus wallichiana with the second highest importance value,density and basal *** addition,elevation,slope,maximum water holding capacity(MWHC),soil moisture(SM),total organic matter(TOM),sodium,phosphorus and nickel showed highly significant influence on composition and distribution pattern of Indus Kohistan ***,this study shows a new evidence of vegetation-environment relationship,pointing out specific drivers of vegetation structure in CDF of Indus Kohistan region in northern Pakistan.

In the present case, we have studied the effect of magnetic field-dependent viscosity (MFD) along with porosity on the revolving Axi-symmetric steady ferrofluid flow with rotating disk by solving the boundary layer equations using Neuringer-Rosensweig (NR) model. Here, we have calculated the velocity components and pressure for different values of MFD viscosity (k) and porosity (ε) with the variation of Karman’s dimensionless parameter α. Also, we have calculated the displacement thickness of the boundary layer and total volume flowing outward the z-axis. The numerical results which are obtained for various flow characteristics are shown graphically.

Thanks to the excellent optoelectronic properties,lead halide perovskites(LHPs)have been widely employed in highperformance optoelectronic devices such as solar cells and lightemitting ***,overcoming their poor stability against water has been one of the biggest challenges for most ***,we report a novel hot-injection method in a Pb-poor environment combined with a well-designed purification process to synthesize water-dispersible CsPbBr_(3) nanocrystals(NCs).The as-prepared NCs sustain their superior photoluminescence(91%quantum yield in water)for more than 200 days in an aqueous environment,which is attributed to a passivation effect induced by excess CsBr *** to the ultra-stability of these LHP NCs,for the first time,we report a new application of LHP NCs,in which they are applied to electrocatalysis of CO_(2) reduction ***,they show significant electrocatalytic activity(faradaic yield:32%for CH4,40%for CO)and operation stability(>350 h).

Electric and magnetic fields in time and frequency domain due to return stroke-lateral corona (RS-LC) system and re- cently discovered red sprites have been calculated. It has been found that the electric and magnetic fields due to return stroke and lateral corona system radiate in the very low frequency (VLF) region while due to sprites radiate in the ex- tremely low frequency (ELF) range. A comparison has been made between the radiations emitted due to RS-LC system and sprites in ELF (0 - 200 Hz) region. It has been found that the electric field i.e. radiation power generated due to sprites dominates in the ELF range and thus it is concluded that the red sprites as compared to the RS-LC system are the prominent source for the excitation of Schumann resonances in the earth-ionosphere waveguide.
