Background: Happy hypoxia is a new feature found in COVID-19 patients. It consists of the presence of severe hypoxemia but normal breathing rate. Failure to identify this hypoxia may have negative consequences on the survival of the patient. The objective of the present study was to measure the frequency of patients with happy hypoxia and to evaluate their survival at the Kinshasa University Hospital (KUH). Methods: This was a historical cohort of 141 hospitalized patients with COVID-19 at KUH from March 23 to June 15, 2020. Happy hypoxia was defined as oxygen saturation below 90% without dyspnea. Socio-demographic data, co-morbidities, follow up time of hospitalization and outcomes were studied. Survival was assessed using the Kaplan Meier curve. Results: Out of 141 hospitalized patients with COVID-19, 79 (56%) patients were at the severe or critical stage and 9 (6.4%) had a happy hypoxia on admission. Patients who had happy hypoxia on admission were generally older than 60 years of age (55.6%) (p = 0.023). Comparison of survival curves, based on the presence or absence of happy hypoxia, shows a statistically significant difference (p = 0.001). The presence of happy hypoxia reduces survival. Conclusion: The frequency of happy hypoxia among COVID-19 patients was low. Survival was reduced in patients with happy hypoxia. Prehospital pulse oximetry could serve as an early warning signal for the detection of happy hypoxemia in COVID-19 patients.

Petrographic Characteristics and Metalogeny of Zatua Hills BIFs, Haut-Uele Province (DR Congo)

Zatua Hills are located at Haut Uélé Province of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), between northern Bafwasende and southern Paulis (Isiro) Squarred Degrees. Belonging to greenstone belt of Ngayu, that area is identified by the high elevated zone which is remained the witness of stable zone, not affected by the ancienst erosion process. Zatua Hills are in the superior Kibalian formation dated to Neoarchaen, hosted in Upper Congo Granites Massifs of DRC covering a large central zone of NE of DRC, and consisting to dolerite, phyllade, clay rich sediment, poor Banded Iron Formations (BIFs), enriched BIFs, friable hematite, hard hematite, mineralized and unmineralized brechias. Magnetite, martite and hematite are associated to some secondary minerals such as goethite, gibbsite, kaolinite, strengite, variscite and others clay minerals present in BIFs. Petrographic analysis made from the samples collected in situ showed, as well as BIFs and iron ore associated, that magnetite was much abundant oxide mineral which is oxided to martite before to stabilize to hematite during the deposition time. Having about hundred meters of thickness, the rich iron ore of this area content, in the majority less deleterious elements which, are harmful in metallurgic process of iron. These secondary minerals were precipitated at various degrees in the leached cavities of rocks between martite and hematite aggregates to botryoidal texture and, are rich to Al, and are mainly consisting to gibbsite and solid solution series of variscite-strengite (AlPO4·2H2O and FePO4·2H2O). Low degree of metamorphism played when magnetite was converted to martite, with the presence of variscite and anatase like witnesses of this event in which, martite was crystalized to hematite.

目的:证明黄芪多糖对氧化应激皮肤细胞的保护作用。方法:原代培养皮肤成纤维细胞在过氧化氢0.5 mmol/L中,孵育30 min造成急性氧化损伤的模型。MTT法测黄芪多糖的剂量反应,DAPI染色法检测黄芪多糖对细胞死亡的作用;激光共聚焦法检测黄芪多糖对线粒体、线粒体膜电位以及溶酶体稳定性的保护作用。结果:经过黄芪多糖的治疗,能够明显提高细胞存活率,其作用浓度从0.5 mg/L开始,到1 mg/L达最大效果,呈剂量依赖性。而且,黄芪多糖能够抑制线粒体膜电位崩解保护线粒体形态,保护溶酶体膜。结论:这些结果证明了黄芪多糖在线粒体和溶酶体水平存在1个新的调节凋亡的途径。这个途径可以成为一些氧化应激以及溶酶体缺陷疾病的1个新的治疗靶点。
