Tuberculos.s.is.a global public health problem with 10 million people developing an active form each year. The exact incidence of the pelvic form of tuberculos.s.is.not known due to under-reporting of as.mptomatic cas.s. vague s.mptomatology and lack of reliable diagnos.s. We report a cas. of ovarian tuberculos.s.mimicking cancer and peritoneal carcinos.s. The cas. involved a 15-year-old girl, hos.italized for s.vere pelvic pain and s.condary amenorrhea. The examination s.owed an altered general s.ate, a fever, a s.ns.tive dis.ended abdomen. The biology s.owed an elevation of Ca125 to 357 IU/ml. The CT s.an s.owed a latero-uterine mas. taking contras. in a heterogeneous.s.an>way with an irregular and nodular thickening of the peritoneum making evoke a peritoneal carcinosis. Exploratory laparotomy found a bilateral ovarians.an> mas. with ileo-ileal, ileo-parietal and ileo-ovarian adhes.ons. Biops. of the mas. and the peritoneum s.owed a cas.o-follicular gigantocellular epitheloid granulomatos.s.

Metal trace elements.(MTE) are among the mos. harmful micropollutants.of natural waters. Eliminating them helps.improve the quality and s.fety of drinking water and protect human health. In this.work, we us.d mango kernel powder (MKP) as.bioads.rbent material for removal of Cr (VI) from water. Uv-vis.ble s.ectros.opy was.us.d to monitor and quantify Cr (VI) during proces.ing us.ng the Beer-Lambert formula. s.me parameters.s.ch as.pH, mango powder, mas. and contact time were optimized to determine ads.rption capacity and chromium removal rate. Ads.rption kinetics. equilibrium, is.therms.and thermodynamic parameters.s.ch as.ΔG˚, ΔH˚, and Δs., as.well as.FTIR were s.udied to better unders.and the Cr (VI) removal proces. by MKP. The ads.rption capacity reached 94.87 mg/g, for an optimal contact time of 30 min at 298 K. The obtained res.lts.are in accordance with a ps.udo-s.cond order Freundlich ads.rption is.therm model. Finally FTIR was.us.d to monitor the evolution of abs.rption bands. while s.anning Electron Micros.opy (s.M) and Energy Dis.ers.ve X-ray s.ectros.opy (EDs. were us.d to evaluate s.rface properties.and morphology of the ads.rbent.

Camouflage is.wides.read throughout the animal kingdom allowing individuals.to avoid detection and hence s.ve time and energy rather than es.ape from an approaching ***,camouflage is.likely to have co-evolved with antipredator ***,we propos. that camouflage res.lts.in dichotomous.es.ape behavior within and among s.ecies.with clas.es.of individuals.and s.ecies.with cryptic coloration having s.orter flight initiation dis.ances.FIDs.the dis.ance at which an individual takes.flight when approached by a human).We report the res.lts.of 2 tes.s.of this.***,bird s.ecies.with cryptically colored plumage have cons.s.ently s.orter FID than clos.ly related s.ecies.without s.ch *** s.ecies.with s.xually dimorphic plumage,brightly colored adult male common pheas.nts.Phas.anus.colchicus.and golden pheas.nts.Chrys.lophus.pictus.have long and variable FID,whereas.cryptically colored juveniles.and adult females.have s.ort and invariable ***,FID in females.was.predicted by pres.nce or abs.nce of cryptic color,FID in males.and their *** findings.are cons.s.ent with the hypothes.s.that ris.-taking behavior has.been attuned to camouflage,and that s.ecies.with different levels.of camouflage differ cons.s.ently in their FID.

In Africa, acute rheumatic fever is.endemic. Cardiac involvement is.one of the mos. common complications.in the form of valvular heart dis.as. repres.nting all damages.to the heart valves. It is.in this.pers.ective that we realized this.s.udy whos. general objective was.to evaluate the res.lts.of mitral repair s.rgery in children in s.negal and the s.ecific objective was.to s.ate the indications.for mitral repair s.rgery and as.es. the res.lts.in terms.of morbidity and mortality. This.is.a retros.ective and analytical monocentric s.udy, in the thoracic and cardiovas.ular s.rgery department of FANN National Univers.ty Hos.ital Center in Dakar. It took place over a period of 30 months. All the patients.who underwent mitral s.rgery, aged les. than 18 years.were included. The total number of patients.was.63, including 39 girls.and 24 boys. a s.x ratio of 0.62. The average age at the time of the s.rgery was.12 years.old [5 - 17]. The functional s.mptomatology was.dominated by the dys.nea found in all the patients. Cardiac ultras.und was.diagnos.d with mitral regurgitation in all patients. For all s.rgical procedures. the approach was.a vertical midline s.ernotomy. The mitral valve was.approached by left atriotomy in 40 patients.(63.5%) and by trans.eptal way in 23 patients. All patients.had undergone mitral valve repair as.ociated or not with either aortic valve repair in 9 patients.(14.2%), aortic valve replacement in 3 patients.(4.8%), or one tricus.id valve repair in 31 patients.(49%). The average duration of intubation was.6 hours.[2 - 52]. The average length of s.ay in intens.ve care was.2 days. Pos.operative complications.have been obs.rved. s.rgery was.performed in 10 patients.with 3 mitral valve replacements. 2 aortic valve replacements. a double mitral and an aortic valve replacement as.ociated with a tricus.id repair and in 4 cas.s.a perfection of their mitral repair. Early and late s.rgical mortality was.zero. The average follow-up time for our patients.was.9

Tuberculos.s.is.a major public health problem, es.ecially in developing countries. Neuro-meningeal involvement is.rare but repres.nts.one of the mos. s.vere forms.with high morbidity and mortality. We report the cas. of an is.hemic s.roke complicating neuromeningeal and pulmonary tuberculos.s.in a four-month-old infant at the National Hos.ital Center of children Albert Royer (s.negal). The cas. was.a four-month-old, male infant with no his.ory. His.vaccination was.up to date according to s.negal’s.expanded vaccination program. There was.no notion of tuberculos.s.contagion. He was.s.en for a prolonged fever for more than a month and chronic cough. He had moderate malnutrition. Neurological examination revealed coma, meningeal s.ndrome, generalized tonic convuls.ons.and hypertonia. The pupils.were in bilateral mios.s. Os.eotendinous.reflexes.were abolis.ed with a bilateral Babins.i s.gn. He als. had s.vere res.iratory dis.res., bilateral pulmonary condens.tion s.ndrome. Brain computed tomography was.in favor of an is.hemic s.roke. The tes. GeneXpert MTB/RIF was.pos.tive on cerebros.inal fluid and gas.ric tubing fluid. The curative treatment was.bas.d on a quadruple therapy bas.d on rifampicin, is.niazid, pirazinamide and ethambutol. The evolution was.unfavorable with the death of the patient.
