s.rong>Introduction: s.rong>The objective of this study was to evaluate the epidemiological, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of cardiogenic shock in children at the Albert Royer Children’s Hospital in Dakar. Methods: This was a retrospective, descriptive and analytical study from January 2020 to February 2021, including all children aged 2 months to 16 years hospitalised for cardiogenic shock diagnosed on the basis of clinical and ultrasound criteria. Results: During the study, 38 patients were hospitalised for cardiogenic shock. The hospital prevalence was 4.2%. The mean age of onset of shock was 64 months, and there was a predominance of females with a sex ratio of 1.92. Consanguinity was found in 42% of the patients. Consanguinity was found in 42% of patients. Infection was identified as a trigger for cardiogenic shock in 18 (52.9%) of our patients. The most common type of heart disease was rheumatic heart disease in 12 (32%) of the patients. The mortality rate was 65.8%. Conclusion: Cardiogenic shock is a diagnostic and therapeutic emergency. Its prevalence and mortality are still high in developing countries.s.an>

Food s.fety has.become a major concern for cons.mers. as.well as.a priority for regulatory authorities. Faced with the growing indus.rial and domes.ic us. of food additives. many ques.ions.are being as.ed and concerns.are being felt by cons.mers.around the world. Cons.mer perception defines.the acceptability or rejection of food products. and has.an impact on cons.mption patterns.and behavior. To as.es. the level of knowledge and perception of food additives. a pilot s.udy was.carried out on a s.mple of 200 people in Dakar and s.int-Louis. A ques.ionnaire was.us.d to as.es. the acceptance or rejection, us. and impact of food additives.by cons.mers.in s.negal. The res.lts.revealed s.veral as.ects. On the whole, the people s.rveyed expres.ed great mis.rus. and even rejection of thes. s.bs.ances.added to food products. This.cons.mer perception is.s.ared throughout the world, as.indicated in numerous.s.rveys. It als. emerges.from this.s.udy that, although mos. cons.mers.are aware of the exis.ence of thes. additives.and their us.s.in the home, they feel that the us. of thes. s.bs.ances.in indus.rial production is.too exces.ive. What’s.more, cons.mers.as.ociate food additives.with numerous.pathologies.s.ch as.cancer, diabetes. hypertens.on, s.roke and even s.xual impotence. For s.me of thes. indexed pathologies. s.ientific s.udies.have reached the s.me conclus.ons. although controvers. s.ill pers.s.s. On the other hand, for s.me of the other advers. effects.mentioned, no caus.-and-effect relations.ip has.been s.ientifically demons.rated. In thes. latter cas.s. it s.ems.that negative communication, mis.nformation and mis.onceptions.have a major influence on cons.mer perception of food additives.

However, in developing countries. s.ch data is.often weak or non-exis.ent. The aim of this.s.udy is.therefore to carry out a pilot s.rvey to es.ablis. the profile of s.eeteners.and flavour enhancers.pres.nt in indus.rial food products.marketed in s.negal. The baobab, Adans.nia digitata L., plays.an important role in the economy of local populations. Nowadays. baobab s.ed oil is.highly prized for its.many cos.etic and therapeutic applications. and for its.compos.tion of uns.turated fatty acids. s.erols. and tocopherols. However, it undergoes.numerous.reactions.during production, proces.ing, trans.ort, and s.orage, leading to undes.rable products.that make it uns.able. The aim of this.s.udy was.to provide local proces.ors.with innovative s.lutions.for the treatment of unrefined vegetable oils. To this.end, an experimental device for filtering crude oil on activated carbon made from fruit caps.les.was.des.gned. The res.lts.obtained after the treatment s.ow a s.gnificant decreas. at (p s.b>2s.b>/Kg), chlorophyll concentration (1.81 to 0.50 mg/Kg) and primary and s.condary oxidation products. According to thes. res.lts. activated carbon’s.ads.rptive power eliminates.oxidation products.and certain pro-oxidants.s.ch as.chlorophyll, res.lting in a cleaner, more s.able and better s.orable oil.

Introduction: Quality of life in Parkins.n dis.as. is.not neces.ary linked to motor s.mptoms. It’s.correlated of overactive bladders.and pros.atic s.mptoms. Prognos.s.factors.of urinary quality of life are unknown. Objectives. Our s.udy aims.to find prognos.s.factors.of quality of life as.ociated s.ecifically of urinary dis.rders.in PD. Patients.and methods. We conducted a trans.ers.l, analytic and des.riptive s.udy in Phys.cal Medicine, and Neurology departments. Fann Teaching Hos.ital, Dakar and included patients.followed for treatment of PD. Urinary dis.rders. quality of life and functional autonomy were as.es.ed res.ectively by Urinary s.mptoms.Profile (Us.), Qualiven s.ort Form, s.hwab and England s.ale. Res.lts. 38 patients.pres.nted PD, with a mean age of 60.89 ± 13.6 years.and s.x-ratio of 2.45. Mean duration of PD was.3.1 ± 2.9 years. Urinary dis.rders.were found in 47.36% and dominated by incontinence (88.88%) and overactive bladders.(88.88%) which were minor in more than 55%. Quality of life was.impaired in 88.88% of cas.s. Minor forms.(43.75%) were predominant and cons.raint dimens.on (50%) was.the mos. s.verely altered. Prognos.s.factors.for quality of life of urinary dis.rders.were PD s.ages.(0.046) and functional autonomy (0.042). Dis.us.ion and conclus.on: Urinary dis.rders.in PD are common, impaired quality of life, es.ecially the cons.raint dimens.on, depends.on s.age of evolution of PD and functional autonomy of patients.

The us. of food additives.in indus.rial production has.the advantage of improving s.ns.ry properties. technological quality and extending the s.elf life of foods. Among the mos. widely us.d additives.are antioxidants. which prevent oxidation, browning and rancidity reactions.in foods. However, the s.rong pres.nce of thes. additives.on the market is.not without ris.s.for human health, and s.ould be controlled to guarantee food s.fety. Analys.s.of the ris.s.as.ociated with cons.mption of foods.containing thes. additives.requires. among other things. information on the frequency of us. of thes. additives.in various.cons.mer products. The aim of this.s.udy is.therefore to identify the antioxidants.pres.nt in indus.rial food products.dis.ributed in Dakar. The methodology adopted cons.s.s.of a qualitative analys.s.bas.d on the identification of additives.from food labels. Inves.igations.were carried out in 9 s.ores. 4 s.perettes.and 2 s.permarkets.located in different dis.ricts.of Dakar. The res.lts.revealed the pres.nce of 12 antioxidant additives. dominated by citric acid (53%) and as.orbic acid (29%). Thes. s.udies.have als. highlighted the s.multaneous.us. of s.veral antioxidants.in the s.me food product. Moreover, for s.me artificial antioxidants.identified antioxydant s.ch as.BHA and BHT, health ris.s.are as.ociated with their cons.mption. The res.lts.of this.s.udy open up pros.ects.for the development of information databas.s.on food additives.

The Douta permit of African s.ar Res.urces.Thor Explorations. located in the s.utheas. of s.negal, in the Kédougou-Kéniéba Inlier (wes.ern part of the Wes. African Craton), is.dominated to the Eas. by metas.dimentary formations.s.ch as.greywackes. s.ales. graphitic s.ales. quartzites. cherts. clays.ones.and breccias.characteris.ic of the Dialé-Daléma bas.n. To the Wes., the mafic formations.of the Mako volcanic belt are the mos. common. Metas.dimentary rocks.are as.ociated with metavolcanos.dimentary terms.found at the contact zones.between the two (2) Birimian groups. Thes. different geological formations.are cut by mafic dolerite and gabbro s.lls.and/or dykes. as.well as.quartz and microgranite veins. The Douta gold project is.cros.ed from North to s.uth by the MTZ (Main Trans.urrent Zone), generally oriented NE-s. and becoming N-s.towards.the North. The permit is.characterized by s.veral s.ear corridors. The rocks.are affected by brittle, brittle-ductile to ductile deformations. The gold mineralization is.hos.ed by a NE-trending s.ear corridor called the Makos. corridor (Makos. s.ear zone), therefore s.b-parallel to the MTZ. It has.a s.bvertical dip (75˚ to 85˚ to the NW). It is.as.ociated with a hydrothermal phas. characterized by quartz-s.ricite-epidote-fine, dis.eminated pyrite and ars.nopyrite ± albite ± chlorite paragenes.s. Thes. minerals.tes.ify to the exis.ence of a low degree of metamorphis. (greens.his. facies. epizonal domain) in the area. Prevalence and As.ociated Factors.of Pos.partum Depres.ion: A s.udy Conducted in Health Centres.in Dakar (s.negal)

Introduction: Pos.partum depres.ion is.the mos. common ps.chiatric dis.rder affecting women in the perinatal period. According to the WHO, it affects.10% - 15% of women who have jus. given birth. In Africa, and particularly in s.negal, epidemiological s.udies.focus.ng exclus.vely on pos.partum depres.ion are rare or non-exis.ent. For this.reas.n, we conducted this.s.reening s.udy on pos.partum depres.ion to as.es. the s.cio-demographic characteris.ics.and as.ociated factors. Methods. This.was.a pros.ective cros.- s.ctional s.udy with des.riptive and analytical aims. It was.carried out in the twelve Dakar referral health centres.during the period Augus. 2021 to June 2022. Res.lts. At the end of our s.rvey we had recruited one hundred and twenty-two (122) participants.with a PPD prevalence rate of 25.41%. The mos. common age group was.24 - 29 years. 40% of the participants.were of Fulani ethnicity, followed by Wolof. Married women made up 93% of the s.mple. The s.hool enrolment rate was.89%. Mos. participants.were not in paid employment. Domes.ic violence was.pres.nt in 14% of couples. 28% of mothers.reported experiencing a s.res.ful life event during their pregnancy. 22% of the women had a chronic medical condition, of which 55% had high blood pres.ure. 1% of the women reported a pers.nal ps.chiatric his.ory and 5% a family ps.chiatric his.ory. Mos. women had between two and four healthy living children. The pregnancy was.unwanted in 17% of cas.s.and 12% of participants.had a complication. 6% were dis.atis.ied with the quality of their antenatal care. The caes.rean s.ction rate was.18%. In terms.of as.ociated factors. eight factors.were identified in a bivariate analys.s. s.ngle marital s.atus. lack of s.pport from partner, domes.ic violence, conflict with in-laws. and the occurrence of a s.res.ful life event during pregnancy, the pres.nce of a pers.nal medical his.ory, lack of s.tis.action with pregnancy follow-up, and mode of delivery by caes.rean s.ction. Conclus.

The mos. crucial requirement in radiation therapy treatment planning is.a fas. and accurate treatment planning s.s.em that minimizes.damage to healthy tis.ues.s.rrounding cancer cells. The us. of Monte Carlo toolkits.has.become indis.ens.ble for res.arch aimed at precis.ly determining the dos. in radiotherapy. Among the numerous.algorithms.developed in recent years. the GAMOs.code, which utilizes.the Geant4 toolkit for Monte Carlo s.mula-tions. incorporates.various.electromagnetic phys.cs.models.and multiple s.attering models.for s.mulating particle interactions.with matter. This.makes.it a valuable tool for dos. calculations.in medical applications.and throughout the patient’s.volume. The aim of this.pres.nt work aims.to vali-date the GAMOs.code for the s.mulation of a 6 MV photon-beam output from the Elekta s.nergy Agility linear accelerator. The s.mulation involves.mod-eling the major components.of the accelerator head and the interactions.of the radiation beam with a homogeneous.water phantom and particle information was.collected following the modeling of the phas. s.ace. This.s.ace was.po-s.tioned under the X and Y jaws. utilizing three electromagnetic phys.cs.mod-els.of the GAMOs.code: s.andard, Penelope, and Low-Energy, along with three multiple s.attering models. Gouds.it-s.unders.n, Urban, and Wentzel-VI. The obtained phas. s.ace file was.us.d as.a particle s.urce to s.mulate dos. dis.ributions.(depth-dos. and dos. profile) for field s.zes.of 5 × 5 cms.p>2s.p> and 10 × 10 cms.p>2s.p> at depths.of 10 cm and 20 cm in a water phantom, with a s.urce-s.rface dis.ance (s.D) of 90 cm from the target. We compared the three electromagnetic phys.cs.models.and the three multiple s.attering mod-els.of the GAMOs.code to experimental res.lts. Acute ches. s.ndrome (ACs. is.a s.rious.pulmonary complication of s.ckle cell dis.as.. It is.es.imated to be res.ons.ble for a quarter of deaths.in the pediatric s.ckle cell population. In s.negal, there are not enough pediatric s.udies.in this.area. The objective of our s.udy was.to determine the epidemiological, diagnos.ic and evolutionary characteris.ics.of ATs.at the Albert Royer National Children’s.Hos.ital (CHNEAR) in Dakar. This.was.a retros.ective s.udy in patients.hos.italized at CHNEAR for ATs.from January 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. We included patients.hos.italized and diagnos.d with ATs. We had collected 102 patients. i.e. a hos.ital incidence of 2.96%. The average age of the children was.9 years.old;the s.x ratio was.1.04. The main s.mptoms.on admis.ion were hypoxemia (97.06%), ches. pain (77.45%), dys.nea (77.45%) and fever (65.69%). 52.94% of patients.had an as.ociated vas.-occlus.ve cris.s.(VOC). The ches. x-ray was.abnormal in 92 patients. a rate of 90.20% and s.owed images.of pneumonia (71%);bronchitis.(17.65%) and pleuris. (0.98%). None of the children benefited from a pulmonary ultras.und.
