Prognosis Factors of Urinary Quality of Life in Parkinson Disease

Introduction: Quality of life in Parkinson disease is not necessary linked to motor symptoms. It’s correlated of overactive bladders and prostatic symptoms. Prognosis factors of urinary quality of life are unknown. Objectives: Our study aims to find prognosis factors of quality of life associated specifically of urinary disorders in PD. Patients and methods: We conducted a transversal, analytic and descriptive study in Physical Medicine, and Neurology departments, Fann Teaching Hospital, Dakar and included patients followed for treatment of PD. Urinary disorders, quality of life and functional autonomy were assessed respectively by Urinary Symptoms Profile (USP), Qualiven Short Form, Schwab and England Scale. Results: 38 patients presented PD, with a mean age of 60.89 ± 13.6 years and sex-ratio of 2.45. Mean duration of PD was 3.1 ± 2.9 years. Urinary disorders were found in 47.36% and dominated by incontinence (88.88%) and overactive bladders (88.88%) which were minor in more than 55%. Quality of life was impaired in 88.88% of cases. Minor forms (43.75%) were predominant and constraint dimension (50%) was the most severely altered. Prognosis factors for quality of life of urinary disorders were PD stages (0.046) and functional autonomy (0.042). Discussion and conclusion: Urinary disorders in PD are common, impaired quality of life, especially the constraint dimension, depends on stage of evolution of PD and functional autonomy of patients.

In these last decades,the awareness that soil is a very important resource for humans has noticeably *** actions and initiatives to promote soil governance,aiming at sustainable soil manage-ment and soil security have been undertaken by several national and international institutions and in many *** of the changes of soil perception over the centuries allows highlighting a perfect harmony between the evolution of soil awareness and the level of knowledge and technology achieved by humans during their history and *** these many achievements,soils continue to be scarcely considered in politics and *** suggest some thoughts and reflections that could lead to an up-to-date and effective definition of soil that directly focuses the public attention on its economic *** our opinion,soil economic value could be the only aspect that truly attracts the attention of politicians and administrators,which could increase soil awareness and encourage soil sustainability,security and Sustainable Development Goals and finally promote soil governance.

Soil genetic erosion: New conceptual developments in soil security

In the last decades,in some Mediterranean areas,pedodiversity decreased mainly due to pedotechnique application in large-scale farming that transformed original soils into *** the consideration that soils can be considered as living systems,the original concept of'soil genetic erosion'is ***,extrapolated and modeled from a Soil Information System in a study case representative of a Mediterranean landscape,predicted that most of the soil types would disappear in few years leading to a decrease of the soil diversity and originating soil genetic *** circumstance is intentionally here told in form of a story where the fairy tale characters are some roils facing extinction in the *** genetic erosion could result in a negative impact on the environment because it reduces the soil's security through a drastic reduction of the soil ecosystem services with a decrease of the immaterial benefit for the *** conviction that soils,as well as animals and plants,are living bodies,and pedodiversity is equally important as biodiversity in maintaining sustainability and ecosystem services,might truly attract the attention of the public ***,focussing more on the soil economic dimension and strengthening the assignation of'economic value'to the soil ecosystem services,also politicians and administrators could increase their interest in soil security.

Features of selected benchmark soils along an elevational transect of the northeastern part of the Moldavian Plateau (Romania)

Soil morphological, physical and chemical properties are described at four locations along an elevational transect in the northeastern part of the Moldavian Plateau (Romania). These data contribute to the knowledge of the soils of this area and to their classification according to the USDA-Soil Taxonomy, FAOWRB and the SRTS-Romanian System. The soils were classified as Inceptisols, Alfisols and Mollisols, according to the USDA-Soil Taxonomy;Gleysol, Chernozem and Luvisol, according to the FAO-WRB and Gleiosol, Cernoziom, Preluvosol, Luvosol, according to the SRTS-Romanian System. The selected soils have a range of properties that represent the soilscape of the Moldavian subcarpathian plateau, characterised by a natural forest with oak as the dominant species. The selected soil parameters decreased with increasing elevation;calcium carbonate and clay leaching and accumulation are the main soil formation processes.

Taxonomic and environmental implication of pedotechnique in large scale farming

Human activities that involve deep modifications of the soils and a substantial deterioration of their features are numerous and very *** activities are considered as pedotechniques and,in largescale farming,are used only under the boost of significant economic *** these last decades,the pedotechniques used to tailor soils suitable for table vine cultivation in the Acate valley(Sicily,Italy),not only led to objective difficulties in the classification of these deeply transformed soils but also,to several environmental *** this work after considering the pedotechniques used in tailoring suitable soil for table vine cultivation,we propose to introduce Anthrosols as a new taxonomic soil Order in Soil Taxonomy stressing that a correct soil classification of these deeply modified soils allow for a correct understanding of their features and of the environmental hazards that their management could originate.

The“genetic erosion”of the soil ecosystem

This paper takes into consideration the influence of human activities on the loss of pedodiversity in a Mediterranean area due to large scale *** particular it examines the quantitative and qualitative soil changes in a period of 53 years(from 1955 to 2008)evaluating the loss of soil diversity at soil subgroups level of the USDA Soil Taxonomy *** following indices were used:richness;Shannon’s diversity index;Simpson diversity index;Shannon’s evenness index;Simpson’s evenness *** this case study,considering what we observed in time,the human intervention in soil transformation could increase the diversity in the landscape in an initial phase,but forwarding by large scale farming the result is a huge loss of pedodiversity in time,as diversity indices remarkably have *** analysis enabled identification of disappeared soil types,with their unique history of *** our opinion this strongly reflects a sort of“genetic erosion”of the soil types,resulting in a substantial weakening of the whole pedo-ecosystem.

Management and Outcome of Ureteropelvic Junction Obstruction in Senegalese Children

Introduction: The ureteropelvic junction obstruction is a rare congenital malformation of the upper urinary tract. We report its management and outcome at Senegal’s main pediatric surgical department. Patients and Methods: We conducted a descriptive review of all patients managed in our pediatric surgical department at Albert Royer National Children’s Hospital Centre from January 1st, 2013 to December 31st, 2017. Results: Thirty patients were included in our study. The mean age was three years. Males were more affected (sex ratio of 2.75). The prenatal diagnosis was made in 23% of cases using prenatal ultrasonography. An abdominal mass was the circumstance of discovery in 36% of cases, and lumbar contact and renal sloshing were found in 66% of cases. There was no renal function impairment in 93% of cases. Urinary tract infection occurred in 50% of cases. Ultrasonography (100%) and urinary computed tomography (56%) were used to diagnose. A temporary nephrostomy was performed in 23% of cases, and as definitive treatment, an open Anderson-Hynes procedure was performed in 96% as a nephrectomy was made in a patient. Early postoperative complications were encountered in 56% of cases: urinary tract infection (36%), surgical site infection and anastomotic stenosis (6% both), and urinoma and textiloma (both in 3%). A patient died from sepsis. After a mean follow-up of 12 months, no additional complication was reported. Conclusion: Ureteropelvic junction obstruction was frequently diagnosed late, and its management carried unneglectable morbidity in our environment. A laparoscopic approach would be a solution to improve its outcome.

Grain Size Influence on the Compaction Aptitude and the Bearing Strength of the Gravel Lateritic Soils

This study is carried out to appreciate the coarse elements influence of the gravel lateritic soils on the pavement behavior. The material involves not only the 0/20 mm granular particles considered in the specifications and on the laboratory tests, but also all of the material that is actually used in the construction sites. Geotechnical characterization was leaned on five differentiated granular classes of 0/20;0/25;0/31.5;0/40 and 0/63 mm diameters. The sample of 0/40 mm gets the best compaction aptitude, while that of 0/31.5 mm reaches the greatest bearing strength and a good Optimum Moisture Content. According to the requirements and its bearing strengths, the material is usable up to subbase layer and its behavior depends on the grain size.

Synthesis, Spectroscopic Studies and X-Ray Diffraction of Heptacoordinated Mn(II) and Co(II) Complexes with Ligands Derived from Carbonohydrazide

The ligand 1-(1-(pyridin-2-yl)ethylidene)carbonohydrazide (H4L1) and 1-(pyridin-2-ylmethylene)carbonohydrazide (H4L2) were prepared by reaction of carbonohydrazide with 2-acetylpyridine or pyridine carbaldehyde respectively in a reflux methanol solution. The complexes are prepared by reaction of the ligand with the appropriate metal salt. These complexes are well characterized by elemental analysis, IR and UV spectroscopies and their structure were determined by single X-ray diffraction technic. In the crystal of the dinuclear complex [Mn2(H4L1)2(H2O)4]·Cl4, 1) each Mn(II) center is seven coordinated by two nitrogen atom and one carbonyl atom of the one ligand and one nitrogen atom and one carbonyl oxygen atom of another ligand molecule. The coordination sphere is completed by two water molecules. Each of the carbonyl oxygen atom acts as bridge between the two Mn(II) centers. In the mononuclear complex [Co(H4L2)(NO3)(H2O)2]·(NO3);2) the Co(II) center is heptacoordinated. The ligand acts in tridentate fashion through two nitrogen atoms and one carbonyl oxygen atom. Two water molecules lie in the apical positions. One nitrate group acts in bidentate manner while the other nitrate group remains uncoordinated. In both complexes the coordination polyhedral are best described as a pentagonal bipyramid. The molecules are linked together in each case by multiple hydrogen bond interaction resulting in a three-dimensional network. The crystallographic data has been deposited in Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre [CCDC No. 1944387 (complex 1) and 1944386 (complex 2)].
