A new theoretical thermomechanical explanation of the uneven transverse temperature distribution, along the width for thin and wide hot rolled strip was proposed. In particular, starting from the irregular pressure and friction distribution which led to an uneven heat generation, a 2D mathematical model of calculating the transverse termperature distribution was presented. A physical explanation for this problem was given and the model was used as an essential basis to build a corresponding FEM simulation model, in which heat loss and generation were considered. Deformation and friction heat were described in details. For a clearer and more logical analysis, the heat generation problem was split into two parts： one for the strip centre, and one for the sides, in correspondence with the temperature peak points at 100 mm from the strip edge. Finally, the result shows that how thenew theoretical model can lead to the exact interpretation of the measured uneven temperature distribution.

Morphometric variation ofPelophylax saharicus was analysed using univariate and multivariate statistics, with both traditional and geometric morphometrics, based on 148 specimens from four different geographical localities in Tunisia and Algeria. The results show the existence of three morphotypes in Tunisia and one in Algeria, and indicate a significant degree of variation in morphometric characters between regions. Specimens from the southernmost region have the smallest body size and the greatest morphometrie divergence from other populations. This pattern of morphometric variation probably results from phenotypic plasticity in response to local environmental factors. The results of our chromosomal study （C-, Ag-NOR-, endonuclease digestion, DAPI, CMA3 and Q-banding） reveal this species to exhibit the plesiomorphic Pelophylax karyotype of 2n=26 biarmed chromosomes and NORs on the eleventh pair. Similarities and differences of the North African green frog are discussed in relation to the different forms of data collected （chromosomal, morphometric, ecological） [Current Zoology 56 （6）： 678~586, 2010].

Based on communications presented at the international symposium‘West of Japan/East of Europe’,hosted by the Department of Architecture at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in concomitance with the exhibition‘Bruno Taut’s Hyuga Villa in Atami,Japan’,this text discusses the question of cultural translation in architecture departing from the example of Hyuga Villa,realised by Taut in *** the inherently immobile status of architecture,architectural ideas travel widely,as well as their conceivers,the *** cultural passage implicit to translation is never flawless,*** Villa offers a good case in point,since it was conceived by an architect who had only a partial grasp of local culture and who tried to integrate elements of both Western and Japanese *** what are the implications of‘translating’architecture?Can we translate not only words but also images,details,building conventions,even aesthetic sensitivities?And is everything translatable?Applied to an artifact recognised today as an important testimony to the encounter between Western and Eastern design cultures,these questions relate to issues that are central to the debate on both architectural history and built heritage,proposing an alternative approach in terms of method and scope.

Saltwater intrusion along rivers is a complex process controlled by multiple factors and thus fluctuates with a highly nonlinear nature and time-varying *** is challenging to monitor saltwater *** objective of this study was to clarify the spatial-temporal variation of saltwater intrusion and its potential impact on agriculture in the Po River Delta(Italy).2006 was the most severe year of saltwater intrusion in the period we considered.2022 was even worse,but the data are still under *** this study,the Hilbert-Huang transform(HHT)and rescaled range(R/S)were used to identify the multi-time scales and change trends of the salinity and discharge in *** that,the time-dependent intrinsic correlation(TDIC)was used to depict intrinsic relationships between salinity and discharge at different time *** results showed that discharge and salinity exhibited behav-iours of positive long-range correlation during different *** temporal series of salinity and discharge was decomposed into six intrinsic mode functions(IMF)and residuals based on the ensemble empirical mode decomposition(EEMD).The sum of variance contribution rates of IMF1(4 days),IMF2(10 days),and IMF3(12.1 days)of salinity was more than 75%.All measured TDICs have highlighted strong correlations between salinity and ***,we used spatial interpolation tech-niques to map salinity data along *** allowed the investigation of dynamic changes in saltwater intrusion patterns during periods of severe *** show a significant negative correlation between salinity and normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI),indicating that the study area's agricultural greening was affected by saltwater intrusion.

Metabolomics characterization of colostrum in three sow breeds and its influences on piglets' survival and litter growth rates

Background: Colostrum is the first secretion produced by mammary glands during the hours immediately preceding and succeeding parturition. This secretion differs from milk and represents an essential vehicle of passive immunity,prebiotic compounds and growth factors involved in intestinal development. Most of the literature concerning colostrum composition refers mainly to human and cow; and little is known about pig colostrum metabolome and how it varies between pig breeds and different farrowing parity. Thus, the aim of the present research is to provide new information about pig colostrum composition and the associations between metabolites, the sows' breed and the survival and growth rates of their ***: Colostrum samples were gathered from 58 parturitions of sows belonging to three different breeds chosen for their importance in Italian heavy pig production: 31 Large White, 15 Landrace and 12 Duroc respectively. The defatted and ultrafiltered colostrum samples were analysed using1 H–NMR spectroscopy. Principal Components Analysis(PCA) was assessed on the obtained spectra. In addition, using a Stepwise Regression and a Linear Regression analyses the metabolites named after the signals assignment were tested for their associations with piglets' ***-five metabolites were identified, comprehending monosaccharides, disaccharides(such as lactose), organic acids(lactate, citrate, acetate and formate), nitrogenous organic acids(such as creatine) and other compounds,including nucleotides. PCA results evidence a clustering due to breed and season effects. Lactose was the main compound determining the assignment of the samples into different clusters according to the sow breed. Furthermore, some metabolites showed to be associated with piglets' performance and survival traits: acetate and taurine were positively related to litter weight gain and piglets' survival rate, respectively, while dimethylamine and cis-aconitate were linked to new-borns'

Interferon(IFN) therapy has been reported to decrease the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and improve survival by preventing liver-related deaths in patients with chronic hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection, while the role of IFN therapy on the natural history of hepatitis C related cirrhosis is still under debate. The ideal goal of therapy is to prevent the progression into end-stage disease. The use of IFN in patients with HCV compensated cirrhosis reduces the negative clinical evolution independently of the type of laboratoristic and virological response. In our experience, IFN therapy in HCV compensated cirrhosis is barely useful in prevention of HCC, as cirrhosis itself represents a risk of *** authors noted that IFN treatment reduces the risk of HCC independently of the virological response. It would probably be interesting to evaluate the efficacy of weekly low-dose pegylated(PEG)-IFN therapy in patients with HCV cirrhosis and to assess potential benefits of long-term PEG-IFN plus Ribavirin treatment.

This experimental study investigates the friction and wear of three coatings commonly used in industrial applications,particularly in hydrodynamic *** three materials under investigation were Babbitt,polyether ether ketone(PEEK)reinforced with 15%carbon fibers,and PEEK reinforced with 20%carbon *** first polymer material was extruded,while the other was produced by fused deposition modelling(FDM).The materials were subjected to sliding tests in a pin-on-disc configuration,with a steel ball serving as the counter *** tests were conducted at room temperature,with a load of 10 N and under three different lubrication conditions:dry,grease,and *** linear speed was set at 0.3 m/s for the dry and semi-solid lubrication tests,while for the oil tests,the speed was set at 0.25 m/*** greases used had consistency grades of NGLI 000 and NGLI *** ISO VG 68 circulation oil was used for the oil lubrication ***,thermodynamic analyses were performed under the most severe conditions(i.e.,dry)to investigate the steel-Babbitt and steel-PEEK contact.
