Thick asphalt pave.e.ts with ope.-grade. friction course.OGFC) are.e.pose. to topdown cracking(TDC), a distre.s consisting of longitudinal cracks that initiate.on the.pave.e.t surface.close.to the.whe.l path and propagate.downwards. The.main obje.tive.of this study is to de.e.op a se.i-e.pirical mode. for the.pre.iction of TDC de.th e.olution for such pave.e.ts. For this purpose. a se.ie. of core. we.e.take. from diffe.e.t Italian motorway pave.e.ts affe.te. by TDC and analyze. in the.laboratory. Cracke. core. take. from the.whe.l path are. we.e.analyze. to de.e.mine.TDC de.th, whe.e.s intact core. take. from the.middle.of the.lane.not affe.te. by traffic loadings) we.e.te.te. to obtain the.volume.ric and me.hanical prope.tie. of the.OGFC mixture. The.propose. mode., de.e.ope. on the.basis of the.re.ults alre.dy available.in lite.ature.and on the.findings of the.laboratory inve.tigation, pre.icts the.e.olution of TDC de.th as a function of the.applie. traffic loadings(in te.ms of 12-ton fatigue.e.uivale.t single.axle.loads, i.e., e.ALs). The.mode. is sigmoidal with a maximum TDC de.th assume. e.ual to 150 mm. The.shape.parame.e. of the.sigmoidal function de.e.ds on the.indire.t te.sile.stre.gth(ITS) of the.OGFC mixture.(which take. into account indire.tly also the.volume.rics and stiffne.s of the.OGFC), whe.e.s the.e.olutive.translation factor de.e.ds on the.age.of the.OGFC mixture. In this work, a ne. proce.s for the.purification of natural gas base. on a low te.pe.ature.distillation has be.n studie., focusing on the.dynamics of the.syste.. The.robustne.s of the.proce.s has be.n studie. by dynamic simulation of an industrial-scale.plant, with particular re.ard to the.pe.formance. whe. ope.ating conditions are.change.. The.re.ults show that the.proce.s can obtain the.me.hane.product with a high purity and avoid the.solidification of carbon dioxide.
